- Over the course of Counter-Strike’s history a number of maps have been immortalized for their tried-and-tested ability to be fair, enjoyable and sustainably competitive. Iconic combat zones like Inferno, Mirage, and of course Dust II.
And yet, for nearly two decades there has been a map held in far lesser regard. One that has been demonized above all others for the anxiety, frustration and controversy it has provoked - Nuke.

Alot of teams in 1.6 loved nuke. Nuke was one of my old teams best map. I wonder why so many ppl don't like it in go
throughout cs's history, in css nuke became the map that most bhoppers got on. In esea back then, all you needed was a few good hops to rotate from marshmello to either A or Secret, or with a runboost you could get to catwalk instantly.
After in CS:GO, bhopping was slightly nerfed but nuke was still the same, until the 2 redesigns in 2016 and 2018 that made movement much easier and led it back to being a more CT sided map like in 1.6. if you want to see in terms of how bhoppers took advantage of nuke, check out FranzJ.

The only thing that annoys me with nuke is that you're spending 1/3 of the match just walking from spawn to the sites.. So stupid that they're positioned so far away.

A 1050 TI runs Nuke well. If you have a gaming PC worth more than £500 you should have no trouble running it. If you can't run Nuke then presumably you can't run Subzero and if you can't then that means you won't be able to run the new Cache either.
I can run any map 150fps on a work laptop lmao, any pc should run all maps at 60fps in low settings at 600*800

I remember in a random server figuring out how to rush B through vents by using the orange door. Got the whole team to do it, and we just wrecked the CT's. Never seen it done in a pro game but with a clever smoke I think you could pull it off. Nuke is just so quirky it's great.

Perhaps there's a reason why pros don't do it :)
You're still gonna get bottlenecked at the door and at the vent, and I'm pretty sure CTs will get there first even if you rush it. Only time this will work in the pros is when the other team fails to anticipate it. Astralis actually did something similar a few times at the recent ESL tournament. It worked out for a few rounds.

The old nuke was fresh because it was so heavlily CT-sided, that it was really intense for T's to play, and if you got 4-5 rounds you could win the game, really interesting to have so much stakes on strats and executions. i miss old nuke
I remember back in 2013, Nuke was the only map you could win 14 rounds on CT, and the whole time your team would rage because it was a guaranteed loss 14-16.
Personally nuke is my favorite. I always thought of cobblestone as the ugly step-child.

Honestly as someone who doesn't play CS but does enjoy the pro scene Nuke is my favourite map to watch. I like the quick rotations and the vertical elements. Kinda unique in those regards. It seems more tactical than most maps. The classic maps people love seem a little more mechanical over tactical.

You thought that the bomb was on A but actually its on B but u don't know, but the minimap is showing A and 10secs left then you realized that it was on B and lastly everyone on CT side kicks you.
Italy was one of the most famous back in the early 2000's. I still remember its layout almost perfectly. Even Pool.

@@bones6978 it was very CT sided, but after the new inferno came out, it is now a pretty balanced map. Only thing now is, if you don't have any utility at all, you're going to have a very "lovely" time. No side discrimination.
I think inferno is pretty balanced. Both teams give a tough competition to each other.(most of the time.)

nuke has a geiger counter sound that you can hear specially on bombsite b, a small detail that i absolutely love
Nuke used to be the only map me and my friends played (I checked on csgostats, ~90% of our rounds won were on Nuke), but we stopped playing when they remastered it. It was fun to play the old version because you would never play the same round twice, and the major advantage CTs had was fine - because if you won 4 rounds at halftime (11-4) starting as T you could quite easily secure a win. As for not knowing if the bomb was A or B, it was common to have the player on ramp check it.
I've had two fav maps in CS history, prodigy and nuke.

Nuke is my favorite map idk why, the map is just so much different from the others maps that I usually play like Inferno, Mirage, D2 and Vertigo, but Nuke is different in a positive way, seems like Nuke is just way more fun than the other maps

I always loved nuke. Yes in the early days T side was a joke, but that map really leys players be creative when taking sites. Its really fun to just confuse the crap out of people.
i recently played csgo again and the first map was nuke, i never hated nuke, just disliked being on it. but i had a really fun time. i had teammates who very encouraging and helped me get back into csgo and because of just the fun i had on it. nuke makes a little happy because i think of the awesome dudes who were nice and patient with me even if i did accidentally shoot them multiple times cause i forgot how to turn on my hud

Wow. How the times have changed. Now Nuke is probably the most liked map by the community in CS2.
I have always loved Nuke. I was IGL for my teams throughout 1.6 for Cal-o, Cal-im, and Cal-m. We ALWAYS dominated on maps where strategy is key. Nuke was a map where the other team was always confused when they played against us. I remember we scrimmed against Rival right after they played SK in CPL, the Mill match in triple overtime, and we actually BEAT Rival. I know it's not a competitive match and it was just a scrim, but it was important to my team. We were only cal-im at the time and beat one of the best teams in the world in a dominant fashion.
I HATE playing nuke in Pugs, but when we had our team I loved it. Our team had a core 3 players that always played together and we just flowed.
Nuke, Train, Mill, Fire, Aztec, Cbble, Comrade 3rd Route we ALWAYS dominated on. Dust2 and Inferno were the maps that were unpredictable for us always. We did play against TAG when they got demoted to cal-im from cal-p for using ringers. We won 16-14 and they disputed us, saying we cheated and that was one of the toughest matches we ever played.
Man I loved CS. I just got GO about a week ago, hadn't played any games since 2006. I really like cs go..

I absolutely love Nuke, I feel bad because I often subject my friends to play it. If you know the map and how to actually play you know where people go when you can get really nice plays, it also helps that people don’t know nuke so you can take advantage of that

Vertigo? I'd rather watch a Vertigo match rather than taking mid control simulator. Mirage is the one that's bad,it's overplayed. Tactically speaking,Mirage is the best but the map is boring in any way. There's no new strats. It's just taking mid control simulator.
I actually started with nuke. It was and is my favorite map because I know it. There who don't know the map, don't like it.

Old nuke was 1 my favourite map. I hated the new nuke when it came out but now they've balanced it and its almost like the old nuke,but i still prefer that old darkish look of old nuke.
