      It sounds like you need a reline of your denture. I'm currently working a similar case, I'm making an immediate denture that will be a snap in denture. Once the patient heals after the extractions (in 6 months or so) I'll make a new overdenture with a metal framework as a "final overdenture". Your dentist should have explained the details of the procedure to you.

    I have bottom snap in dentures since 2008 and I am very glad I had the work done. They usually snap in place and I had no problems at all. I go to the dentist every six months for a cleaning and they sometimes change the rings in the part on the denture. Lately the denture pops out when I am eating something dry and food gets stuck at the end of the denture and under the denture. This is unusual. Do you think my bottom jaw has changed and I need a new fitting and denture? I was also wondering can you change the snap in dentures be changed to the screw in type?

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the snaps are new but your snap in denture keeps coming loose, it may need a reline. Talk to your dentist about why it pops loose. As to changing over to the screw in type, it depends on how many implants you have and where they are placed in your jaw. Sometimes it can be done easily, sometimes it takes a lot of work. Thank you very much for watching.

    Hi, I have had my new bottom snap one for 3 months, and the metal is starting to come thru the gum and my teeth look like they are already ground down , my inserts look like they already need replacing, I’m having a hard time biting into food, plus my gums and under my chin are really sore. I know I need to go back to the dentist, but I’m tired of complaining to them it took 8 times to get my dentures right that was just for the fittings. I’m really kinda bummed, but tired of dealing with it. My teeth are acrylic, should I have maybe asked for something better? Thanks.

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, definitely go back for some adjustments and tell your dentist your concerns with the metal and the look of the teeth. Sometimes the metal framework is made in such a way that it is at the surface of the overdenture rather than embedded into the acrylic. Make sure you are inserting the denture properly. Sometimes that can wear the snaps prematurely. Let me know how it goes.

    I have two implants in my lower dentures. I was told I needed new lower dentures because i had bone loss after 2 years of getting/wearing them. They never even mentioned anything about re-lining them or that the top of the implants had worn down as another reason they aren't fitting correctly. I don't the lowers as much because they hurt my gums which is causing a divot in the teeth of my upper dentures due to the two implants digging into them. I'd have been better off without getting implants and spending 16k. I got them at Affordable dentures and implants

    I had a lower permanent implant with overdenture over 20 years ago. Do you know roughly the cost of replacing just that lower overdenture? The implants are good and the overdenture has a metal frame. Would it be less expensive to have the new one built over the original metal? If so how long does that take to make? In other words how long would I have to hide in my house without teeth? Thank you!

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental

      Hi, costs will vary from office to office. I made a video about overdenture costs that you might find interesting, th-cam.com/video/XncG8ApzcMk/w-d-xo.html
      Do you still have your lower overdenture? You may be able to keep using it while a new overdenture is being made. If it's 20 years old, I'd recommend a new overdenture rather than an overhaul of your existing overdenture. Also, the posts on your implants may need to be replaced due to wear and tear.
      Do you know what type of snaps you have? I've had a couple of patients over the years who had snaps by companies that no longer exist and replacement parts weren't available.

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, usually all on 4 teeth need more room than a snap in denture. What that means is if you have a snap in denture, there may not be enough space to convert to an all on 4. If that's the case, the implants would need to be removed, the bone cut down, and new implants placed for an all on 4.

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, is the implant a single tooth or a snap in for a denture? For a snap in, the implant consists of 2 parts, the actual implant in the jaw and the snap in post that is screwed into the top of the implant. If just the post is loose, it may be able to be retightened to the proper torque. If the implant itself is loose, then it will need to be removed. For a single tooth implant, it usually consists of the implant, a post that screws into the implant, and a tooth attached to the post. Usually in those situations, the post comes loose from the implant but the tooth stays attached to the post. Either way, see your dentist as soon as possible. Worst case would be if the post is loose in the implant and it causes the top on the implant to crack. Then the implant would need to be removed.

      Hi Bechay, it depends on how your temporary denture was made. Denture teeth come in different styles, from anatomic (looks like a real tooth on the biting surface) to flat plane (the biting surface is flat) and some in between. They also come is different qualities. You're dentist may have used flat plane teeth to make it easier to adjust (for both you and your dentist).

      Also bear in mind, your chewing efficiency with regular dentures is going to be only about 10% of your chewing efficiency with your natural teeth. Snap in dentures (once they are secured with implants) have a much higher chewing efficiency.

    I am miserable with my overdenture. I started this process in 2021 thinking I was going to have permanent teeth via dental implants. 2/4 implants failed even with bone graphs. I was fitted with a temporary traditional denture. My dentist told me since there was nowhere to place another implant, I'd have to go with an overdenture which I was fitted with today. He was able to snap it in and remove it. I couldn't do it myself and he said I'd have to practice taking it out and putting it back in at home. Hès ordering a tool that he said would make it easier to take them out. I tried eating a sub sandwich and it was very uncomfortable. I could feel them slip up and down and cannot get them to snap in place securely. The bite is not right. Finally, after trying to eat something soft, I finally was able to pry the over denture out and replaced it with my temporary denture so I could eat. I can't imagine having to live like this the rest of my life. I should have never believed those stupid TV commercials about dental implants.

    I had four implants in the top. The right side were placed incorrectly, one was in the front left other further back and crooked. The front, as it was the only one snapped out eating grilled cheese. The other was constantly infected and had to be drilled out. This all caused divets and bone loss which i was trying to prevent. The two on the right are almost on top of each other and all i have left. The dentist just put healing cap back on and my tissue has not grown over. Now when i eat my denture constand slided arount on the metal. I am afraid to use them to snap in as there are none on other side. Im afraid when i eat since it would only be anchored on the one side it would cause issues and or cause them to fail because there isnt anything on the other side to prevent movement. I am heart broken and this is causing further bone loss because they move so much even after relign. I lost my teeth due to health issues. This has caused physical and mental/emotional issues. I used to be beautiful, (not trying to brag) but i am loosing more and more bone and all this has literally drained my funds. Is there any specialist out there that ever takes on a probono case. I have trouble eating and chewing, the movement causes pain and more bone loss. Emotionally i am just drained.
