There's a weird cut at 18:50 because TH-cam decided to copyright me for a 5 second theme that plays which I had 0 control over being able to mute and as a result tried to demonetise my video unless removed or muted. So I had to cut it out. It's incredibly unfortunate that this happened and I'm going to have to start recording on 2 separate audio files so I can cut when needed. I'm not a full time content creator but I would love to be so having my secondary income thrown into question over a GAME SOUNDTRACK is absolutely mind boggling as ad revenue is how I primarily earn on YT. Fingers crossed this doesn't happen again in a crucial scene!
1:24:29: At that point in time, Crime Alley was not a dangerous slum. It was an upscale part of the city known as Park Row. The biggest tragedy behind the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne is that it was just random bad luck. Having billions and billions of dollars did not did not make them bulletproof.
1:42:30 no, Amadeus Arkham's daughter was killed by a criminally insane murderer and that's why he Built the Asylum, Quincy Sharp is the current Warden not the founder.
One tip about the fighting-- if you reach a 8x and the combo meter turns yellow, you can perform an instant takedown with X+Y will will finish a thug in one move. You can also upgrade to have this move unlocked faster at 5x. Keeping an unbroken combo means you're faster and have access to these special takedowns.
Dr. Gretchen and Dr. Cassidy are both fine. You actually met both of them earlier in the game. (Dr Gretchen was the elderly woman near where you first met Zsazz. Dr. Cassidy was the younger red haired doctor in the medical building.
Combat-wise, a good tactic is to try to manage the amount of thugs you knock down. Ideally as soon as you knock one over you want to push the left stick toward a guy stood up and start to attack him on your next tap of the attack button. If you are still holding the stick towards the guy you knocked over, you’ll whiff your next attack and lose your combo. I know you’ve got a hearing issue in one ear, but there’s a little sound cue when you lose your combo you might not be able to pick up on. If you get those combos up to 8x you get access to instant takedowns, which I think aren’t interruptable by enemy attacks (like the ground pound is). Keep bopping those thugs on the noggin! 😊😊😊
You can only use the grapnel gun to grab trophies in Batman Arkham City and beyond. You got to use the line launcher to grab trophies out of reach in Asylum. And you got to hold down the scan button to scan the armadeus tombstones 🪦. And the toilets you went into there is a riddle in the one with the mirror. Just walk up to the mirror and scan it. Riddle solved
Great job Anything that seems to stand out -- scan it. It's a high probability that it's the answer to a riddle. You have a doctorate in literature? Cool! So we can call you "Doctor".
@sophidarling ur figuring it out trust me everyone gets lost playing the arkham games the first time but here's a tip the riddlers some of them r invisible, n plan sight u have to use detective mode to find
There's a hidden Easter Egg room in the Mansion where Zasaz had Dr Young (where the safe exploded). If you walk in through the archway and turn left on the wall, spray 3 explosive gel in a specific way and explode it (kinda finicky to get right), it'll reveal a room that teased Rocksteady's next Arkham game (Arkham City). Its soooo well hidden though, and im certain it was a dev secret that had to be revealed publicly because no one would've found it normally 😂😂 but its cool they put it there 2 years in advance before City.
Honestly? Considering you're picking up story beats way better than most people do (certainly better than I, a hardcore Batman fan when I first played this in 2009), I would definitely recommenced you complete the Spirit of Arkham sidequest in this game (Hold LT to scan those tombstone things) and you'll solve the big mystery. Also, if you wanna play the next game (Arkham City), there's actually prequel comic that will fill you in on events that leads into the next game.
You have a PHD in literature? Well that explains it. I was wondering how did you went from "This guy wear undies on his costume?" to picking up WAY more stuff about the lore and tone more so than the average player, especially about the sympathetic villains or the horror-esque atmosphere. Understated horror plays a huge aspect in the trilogy, and it's played out in various way I won't spoil but you can expect a lot of that in all 3 games. As for Batman, he seems to be embodying stoicism in these games, he feels a lot but keeps it inside and it's conveyed to the subtle choices he makes in these games. If you want a damn good movie that explores the psyche of Batman starring the same Batman and Joker from this game, check out "Batman Mask of the Phantasm".
Oh I love analysing narrative and I'm really enjoying the humanising aspect this game has on villain and hero. The ones we are supposed to support aren't always the good guys like Quincy, whereas the ones we genuinely do feel and care for are the villains like Bane and Riddler etc!
Batman don't kill because back in the day there were censorship codes that didn't allow comic book characters to kill each other. So Batman went from killing people with guns to just beating them up, and a bunch of gadgets were developed over time. When those codes were revoked Batman didn't revert to killing people.
Joker soon becomes Hulk we almost got to see Tytan Batman here and if a large mutated person doesn't get you then Croc will feed on anyone it could be an experiment gone ugly and no gaurds want to go down in the sewers looking for that animal .
I'm commenting early so I don't forget, so if you figure it out later in the video, then my bad For the amadeus arkham stories, you need to use the camera part of the scanner, which I think you use by holding the button down (its been a while since I last played so the controls aren't super fresh in my memory. Just whichever option behaves like taking a picture)
Haha if I was younger - maybe I would but I quite like my natural hair colour these days! Took me forever to get it back to normal after being a red head!
Are you planning on doing all the riddler challenges? At the very least I think you should try and get all the actual riddles, there's some really good lore associated with them and most riddles have a character bio attached to them.
@@frenchynoob I didn't forget - my focus was the story and I was enjoying it enough to want to keep progressing rather than running round to figure out the riddles :)
That's fair but my focus has been the story progression as it sucked me in enough that I wanted to keep going to find out what Joker was up to, rather than running around figuring out riddles :)
@@drsophiedarling Oh no, absolutely play how you want to and focus on the story and enjoy it. I more so meant in the sense of coming back and completing the riddles, sorry for the confusion!
This is 100% me jumping the gun, HOWEVER, if you do end up wanting to continue the series, Arkham City and Arkham Knight are both so good. The fourth game, Arkham Origins, was made by a different studio and I at least think it's just. Extremely disappointing, on the whole lol. You can play it if you like, and there are some bits that I did enjoy, and I feel like they actually did do the detective portions very well but I so not think the quality measures up to the others.
I'll probably play them all so I can have an opinion on them all! It was a bit like that with Dark Souls 2. A lot of people advised me to skip it but I wanted to form my own opinion on it :) Plus I already own Origins!
@@NeverOhVer lol I mostly meant that by way of 'i do not know if you're even planning on youtubing the later entries/when you are planning to record them' but also Origins *is* made by a different company. I'm happy that you like it though!
