@Jackson Dawson I might be wrong but I think I remember reading that a lot of the recurring extras are all actual firefighters from CFD. So I assume if they see things being handled wrong they would tell the producer. Not to mention the ex-firefighters they have on staff to help the writers.

Water would boil them alive because to put out a fire they need hot water or the cold water would evaporate. Not sure about fire extinguishers tho.
