Triss might be black, hell, she might be a Witcher too. Have fun playing this garbage, AND paying them to do it again. This is why we can't have nice things.
It's interesting that in this video they even mention that Witchers are boys and not girls. Curious to see the reasoning they come up with that Ciri underwent the trials in the first place... and then how she managed to survive them. Imagining that it is something like the events at the end of the last game stripped her of her powers or something shortly thereafter did. Perhaps it is even killing her and she has to try the trial just to survive... and it's only her blood that permits her to live. Maybe she was even meant to die and her survival brings back the threat of the frost or something like that.
The Witcher schools are basically almost all dead / destroyed during the Witcher 3 timeline. There are NO more schools, no teachers - Every witcher in the Witcher 3 is, in effect, the LAST witcher living or likely to ever live (Witchers had already been dying as a group since Witcher 1 as the schools were already almost all wiped out by then). Ciri becoming a witcher is not a secret, she clearly underwent the trials with Geralt, not a school. There are side quests in the Witcher 1, 2 and 3 where Geralt finds some of the secrets behind the process of the mutations, so he likely pieces it all together to help Ciri undergo it. Done.
@@Hathur This is a lazy explanation that isn't up to CDPR's standards. 1. If she has her original powers the idea of her undergoing the trials makes her significantly weaker. If her goal is to slay monsters and save people - it would be better for her to just stay who she was. At the end of The Witcher 3 she was SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful than Geralt, Yen, Triss, etc. If she was still who she was then in this trailer, that monster wouldn't have even touched her. She would have just obliterated it. 2. In the books they do not want to give her these things because they are convinced it will kill her. So they need a motive to want to give it to her in the first place (like maybe to save her life or something along those lines) and then they need an explanation as to how she survived... because not only is she female and not male - but the trials are done on younger and more resilient individuals in the first place. The only thing I can think of to solve this is her blood permits it to happen. 3. If the explanation is "She just wants to be a Witcher because it is cool and her adopted Dad was a Witcher... so she pumps herself full of stuff that could kill her when she doesn't need to"... then that is just a horrendous way to kick off a new trilogy. CDPR can pull this off. But it has to be explained WAY better than some slop they just throw against the wall and hope it sticks.
Still sooooo many questions need to be answered, Like she'd a Child of Elder blood and the Lady of space and time why does she need/want to go through the mutations it's not like it's a simple thing. Has she lost that power hence why she wants to be enhanced through mutations and why on earth would Geralt sit by and let her do that after what it done to him and what Ciri saw it do to him?
So many people are asking the wrong why. She always hated her power that power will only make her a target for the rest of her life without it she's more free.
Basically just a retcon so a female witcher makes sense. She was already a superhero, the most powerful in the entire universe, this way they can keep the witcher title and get around the pesky lore and source material parts they don't like.
She never wanted that power. She'd trade it any day, if she could. And books never stated women can't pass the trials. Only that according to Vesemir and Triss, they don't know how she'd react, as _they_ never heard about women witchers. But we have good reasons to believe this was done by Cat school (especially in the CDPR game-lore) and straight up know this happened in the table-top RPG (CDPR approved tabletop game).
@@mcw-lg2dm You dont seem to know the lore very well. It really was obvious that people will question Ciri finally being mutated and a witcher. Ciri has consistently proven she’s far beyond traditional definitions of what a Witcher can be. With her Elder Blood powers, extensive training, and survival against overwhelming odds, she’s more than earned the title. Gatekeeping based on outdated or even false/ not entirely true criteria only limits the incredible possibilities that her story can explore. Let’s trust CDPR to deliver something extraordinary and embrace the evolution of the series. Poeple need to try to not to be so stubborn and embrace the direction the story is taking, Ciri’s journey is a natural evolution, not a betrayal of the series. From the beginning, Ciri expressed a strong desire to become a Witcher and worked hard to gain her strength and skills. Overcoming challenges, it's natural for her character to eventually become what she always aspired to be like Geralt. Moreover, Yennefer's attempt to help women undergo the Trial of the Grasses, as mentioned in The Last Wish, shows that the concept of women becoming Witchers has already been explored in the lore. While Yennefer’s efforts were unsuccessful, Ciri’s unique abilities, especially her Elder Blood, make her success in becoming a Witcher plausible. Especially now where she is way more capable to control her power than in the time where she couldnt. Therefore, Ciri becoming a Witcher fits within the established lore, aligning with themes already hinted at in the series. The fact is that the possibility of a female Witcher was always part of the story. End of discussion. Oh and its fantasy theres always a way it just needs to be written well enough.
@@dawoodoo8913 in the books it's plainly stated that like 60% of the young healthy males die during the trial, so the number of females that would die, due to biology, would be much higher than that. So its never worth the risk of even trying. My point is that the only reason they wrote ciri going through the trials was to have a female character who is officially a witcher. She didn't need to as she was already basically a superhero stronger than literally everyone else
Cian is a walking red flag for this project. He's literally wrong about "witcher" referring to ciri, but go on "lore master" Given his defense of netflix Witcher, I would hope he wouldn't be with 100 feet of the project, let alone a writing role.
As a Serbian, I loved that the devs took inspiration from our mythology and I was even more thrilled to hear that the monster Ciri slays is non other than "Bauk". Btw, "au" should be spelled as "ow" in "meow," not as "o".
Fun fact: the lore master, Cian Maher, has only worked for cdpr for a few years and he was a journalist for The Gamer. His X posts highlight his far left beliefs and yes, you should be weary for whatever special lore modifications they are planning to make
I can kind of understand why Ciri underwent the trial of the grasses. She survived the White Frost; there are none as powerful as her, so she's an exception. As to why she'd want to undergo it in the first place... Maybe she knew it would replace the powers she can't control/ elven blood (which she has always hated, as they make her feel used) with the mutations of a Witcher (which is what she wants to become).
Here is my speculation lol. The Trial of Grasses makes you infertile, and if your child has a 50/50 chance to either destroy or save the world, probably the best decision would be not to take these chances and avoid having children altogether.
@@infjelphabasupporter8416 she physically can’t pass the trial because the female body isn’t built for the Trial of Grasses. These are not the same people that made The Witcher 3
@marcsutton1751 the fact that they aren't the same people is a problem... But I don't think the female body is in regards to the trial. I mean, a female (or male) body isn't built to survive the White Frost either, and she did it anyways.
@@infjelphabasupporter8416 she’s a descendant of one of the most powerful eldars in history. She was destined to fight the White Frost. She was never referred to as a witcher in the books except by Bonart and that was in jest usually calling her "witcher girl." Lore master my a**! Going through the Trial of the Grasses as an adult is certain death. The Elder Blood makes her resistant to magic not alchemical potions. Her becoming an actual witcher is basically impossible. The stretching here to make her a witcher is beyond extreme.
There's also an experimental second round of mutations that results in certain death in all cases save for one. Geralt. Why are you cool with that but not Ciri's mutations?
But Ciri never went through the Trial of the Grasses and from my understanding the knowledge for performing it has been lost so how does she have witcher mutations in this new game? P.S I guess it means she's also sterile now.
A big part of the “good endings” in W3 is letting her make her own choices, for better or worse. They may not like it, but they have to let her live her own life and make her own choices and mistakes
@@mel_0104 A big part of being a parent or guardian, is not always letting your "child" have their way (especially when you know better), even after they've outgrown childhood. You sound very immature.
If Ciri's mutations are the exact same as the witchers' that came before her, then she no longer needs to worry about the prophesy around her bloodline. She's sterile now, so there's no risk of her having any prophesy babies.
Yes, I'm guessing that's why she did it. To try and prevent "destiny", I'm betting she's still gonna end up being the mother figure of a child - bingo bongo, prophecy still on track.
Honestly I think she was trying to get back control of her life. Everyone and their dog wanted to impregnate her when she was literally just a child, including her bio dad 🤢 and besides throughout the books. Ciri never wanted to get married or have children. All she ever wanted in life was be a Witcher
I kind of hope they break the "Swallow" sword and it be a moment at the beginning of the game. Having an OP sword from your extremely rich (by that point) adoptive witcher dad would make it really odd to get better swords from random quests and blacksmiths throughout the world. maybe in the introduction she loses it or it breaks or something along those lines...but while using it - it's super OP & Badass. Just a minor worry though... I guess it's fine ignoring this, just creates verisimilitude if they treat that weapon as a max lvl weapon that is lost/broken and needs to be recovered/repaired to get again. Then again, maybe it could be a throw away line that "Geralt gave me Swallow, and that turned out to be no better than a novice's blade when I thought it was from some legendary blacksmith. . . him and his jokes."
Friendly reminder to keep your expectations in check: the game director and key lead members of Witcher 2 and 3 left CDPR several years ago, and CDPR pledged their loyalty to the cult of ESG after their Cyberpunk launch debacle nearly bankrupted the company.
Phantom Liberty is good so i wouldn't worry, individuals are not irreplaceable, W3 is great because of entire team, not because of two or three people. The only way it can fail if it's going to have buggy launch, and false advertising like CP2077.
Why would the lady of space and time with all her superpowers need to be a witcher to kill some monsters? They need to explain how and why she lost her powers
The entire book series is about her hating her powers and her wanting to be a Witcher like Geralt. Geralt retired in Witcher 3, him running a school makes sense.
''Lore master'' at 6:28 mentions an event from the book, which event this is exactly referred to, I read the books but don't remember that particular situation?.
This twink probably can't read fast enough to get through all the books since he was out of diapers. The only slim connection between "trial of grasses" Ciri with the books is in "blood of elves" where Ciri is at Kaer Morhen and the Witchers teach her to fight because they don't know anything else to do with her, and it will come in handy in the real world. Also Ciri gets herbs and juices that keep her fit but interfere with her periods. So Triss put a stop to it. And these people BS-ing about Ciri being of the elder blood so she is able to survive clearly haven't read the books. A large part of Ciri's problems is her inability to control her powers.
Problem with Ciri going through the ToG is it clearly stated several times that everyone who knew how to conduct the trials died long ago!!! How could she go through the trials is there is no one who knows what it entailed?
@@bretmannix304 I'm sure that will be explained. Maybe she's travelled to other witcher schools, maybe she and Geralt did some searching and found lost knowledge, or maybe they've built up a new set of Trials which are safer by using newer ingredients/technology. Lots of potential options, all with compelling parts to them.
Perhaps there was an enclave of Witchers like Kaer Mohren except a different school because if memory serves me correct, there was the Cat, Wolf, Bear and Snake. So I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some hidden enclave that survived somewhere - also didn’t Yennefer perform the first stage of the ToG on Uma? So there is a possibility of the ToG being performed albeit not “properly” perhaps?
I'm convinced the haters have never played Witcher 3. The obviously canon ending based on all of the lore has Geralt retire with Yen and probably start a witcher school and Ciri going off to become a Witcher.
@Vandelgard Correct, if they actually played the 3rd game they'd know that the group learned how to make witchers again. That was Yens whole thing and it caused some drama concerning the morals behind creating more.
I'm actually pretty excited about Ciri being the main protagonist because the combat in Witcher 4 will no doubt be way more fun to play given how easy it was for her to completely delete everyone in her path near the end of Witcher 3! Lol
I really hope CD isn’t planning to fully strip Ciri of her elder powers. I get not wanting a super OP character, but taking away what made her so special seems…wasteful. Plus, I don’t want the gameplay to feel too similar to the original trilogy. Here’s hoping to a God of War-like reboot transition for Witcher 4.
Ciri has always hated her Elder Powers and despises the concept of destiny, she only uses them when she needs to. Ciri has always wanted to be a Witcher like Geralt.
I would hope they release a trailer or reveal of her transition to be a full mutant. Its a fence post that either they release it and explain it and generate more sales or they keep it for you to see for yourself and lose sales due to people thinking its click bait and they just desecrate the lore for her to become a mutant.
I thought the information about the trial of the grasses was lost. How tf can she drink a Witcher potion. It doesn’t make sense. I also I’m disappointed they didn’t go the cyberpunk route to create our own Witcher.
Creating your own Witcher has the same problem. Vesemir said Ciri's elder blood is the key to making new Witchers. Maybe the first 10 hours of the game is rediscoving ToG and becoming a proper Witcher with Geralt as the trainer.
Yea idk I love ciri but still wish they would’ve went with creating our own. They could have had her as a major character but still coulda went with her and geralt creating and training new witchers and take the story from there. Idk I’m just not a fan of this choice.

@@chancellorgowron8992there’s no thing like “women can’t be witchers” they did try though and they did take little girls to schools however neither of them survived the trials. Is Ciri a simple girl? No. Would she survive the trials as a child? Probably yes, her blood would keep her alive. What inclusion are you talking about? She has the strongest powers both in the books and Witcher 3. That’s why everybody used to hunt for her.
@@chancellorgowron8992 you have to remember that the games are a separate entity to the books, while they do take heavily from them they aren’t canon to the books and are considered a seperate canon so girls being able to be witchers isn’t really a major stretch. Ciri becoming a witcher makes sense for her character, even in the books, and is an ending in W3. Having her undergo the trial of grasses and lose her elder blood magic is most likely a retcon for practicality reasons in terms of gameplay, not for “inclusion and equity”. Also, I’m fairly certain (although I may be wrong) that the books don’t directly state that girls CANNOT be witchers, just that girls DO NOT and have never been trained to be, however Ciri was trained to be one and I believe it’s even stated in the books that she’s destined to be one
I wanna see how and why she decided to become a Witcher ! I thought vesemir was the last person known that knew how to perform the trial of the grasses ?? Anyways really excited!! Fell in love with the lore and world.
Ciri with passing the field of grass trial becoming a full mutated witcher and her elden blood is a deadly combo for her to take on powerful monsters and utilizing her magic and teleportation to masterful levels of power.
Ciri's childhood was spent a lot under Vesemir, Geralt, and Yennefer guidance. She admired them as a part of family, So, I'm not surprised if she chose to pick their legacy to do Witcher's job. As her power, her Elder blood power is very dangerous and having huge risk to others if she lost control of it. Moreover, it can also attract another bad villain such as Wild Hunt to kidnap and use her again. So, there's a possibility she doesn't want to use it a lot, unless it's really necessary. She wants to depend on her own skills and magic through her training times with Witchers and Yen. As her eyes become like a Witcher especially when drink a potion, it's probably because of the side effect of her training. Witcher potion is very lethal to normal human. But, since Ciri is not a "normal" because of her bloodline, maybe she can endure it, or she mixed the potion to ease the pain. So, it's not because of Ciri also did genetic mutation trial such as a Witcher, since they knew the trial has very low survival chance to keep you alive. Ciri is also showing emotion in this trailer. If she underwent the trial and became a "real" Witcher, she won't give a reaction like this when she was being confronted with people. Mostly, she just shrug it off or saying F words a lot. Just my theory. 😁
Geralt retired as a millionaire to his villa with Yenn. Ciri as Empress was never going to be canon, the entire book series is about Ciri chosing to not be a god and chosing to become a Witcher.
Right because after telling Emyr the last time she saw him "I'll rip your throat out with my teeth." Totally makes since for her to want to be around him as empress
I see the guys have read the books a lot and understand the lore. But people disliked it simply because the game hasn’t been released yet, and they don’t want to see an explanation for Ciri’s transformation. This is quite strange and biased, maybe I’m wrong
Its just the usual culture war BS which the right wing incels want to inject into absolutely everything to divide people and destroy people's safe spaces where they go to escape the stresses of life. These days I can't look at anything online without some tw@t trying to bring politics into it. It could be anything. There's always some POS troll trying to bring the culture war to it. Its absolutely pathetic. I miss the 90s and 2000s so much because we never had any of this crap back then.
I think the core reason is simply her transformation, as that in itself is a major lore break from the books and something that made Ciri her character. As someone else pointed out: "It was always an interesting part of her character that she was extremely powerful, yet hated the source of her power, and that she always wanted to be a Witcher but never could become it. She was destined and trained to survive the white frost, but no matter what she did becoming a Witcher was something unachievable. By making her a fully mutated Witcher they not only broke the lore and butcher cannon but also resolved one of the interesting dilemas of the character. Also there is no way in hell, Geralt would risk losing Ciri, he wouldn't ever allow her to go thought the Witcher trials. Ciri was always powerful enough as herself, she didn't need to become a Witcher."
They disliked it because it goes directly against the lore of the books. I find your comment strange, biased, and judgmental towards this basic logical assessment, making assumptions about people while ignoring the clear reality of the situation. Maybe I'm wrong.
Some people in the comments are hilarious. Yes, only boys are made into witchers, but I don't know where it says that women can't be witchers. They just aren't chosen to be witchers because women are generally weaker than men and would still be weaker after the mutations. Also their rate of survival for the Trials of the Grasses would be lower, so you would obviously make it a rule that only boys can be witchers. It's just logical. However Ciri is special, she is a child of the Elder Blood. If any woman has the vitality to survive witcher mutations it would be her. She might have even given up her Elder Blood powers for witcher powers. Perhaps the mutations took them away and then she was able to use normal magic which she was taught by Yennefer. My point is that wait for the game to explain this before you criticize.
It’s insane. People need ANY reason to hate something. They will all buy it, love it and be singing its praises post release. The internet and specifically comment sections are typically filled with the negative vocal minority. It’s sad. But there is plenty of positive vibes going around in regards to this trailer! I for one, cannot wait! But I’m sure we r 2-3 years away
Nah kid you just to chicken brained to get simple things . Boys wanna play boy characters because they can associate and save women that’s classic and that works. A
I think because many are tired of the strong and independent female protagonist because 9/10 is written so badly and turned into the usual unbearable authoritarian figure. Others are afraid that the plot has been put aside to promote political ideas (you can't blame them because lately it happens everywhere...) I personally have no problem with Ciri as a protagonist, as long as they don't ruin her entire development as a character. As for her becoming a witcher I don't know what to think, let's wait for more information... Some say that the manticore school also has female witchers but I don't know the reliability of the source.
But the problem is according to books, Geralt only gave her physical training, and not a single witcher ever wanted her to get through all those Trials. So I am a bit sceptical about her using elixirs in this trailer and also about how will they tackle her inherent powers.
Why did she need to be a Mutant like the Actual witcher if she is already powerful? Geralt would have not make her take the trial cause he cared soooo much for her and the mortality rate for taking the trial was high and he would not have risk her life for it and i remember they mentioning the secrets to make witcher was lost. Many questions to answer.
@@krasmasov6852 Who else can make her a Witcher? And Her power was much more better than a Witcher Powers. They should have expanded her power rather than use witcher powers which was weaker compared to her. She could go into different dimension.
@krasmasov6852 yes she hated it but it was because of what it had cause her and that was the wild hunt and now the wild hut is no more unfortunately it makes her weaker than she was before. She seem to like her powers in witcher 3 teleporting and moving as fast as the flash.

I wouldn't say that Geralt was a Witcher who remained neutral and was strictly a monster mercenary. There are 8 books and 3 games that would refute him being a mercenary.
I couldn't disagree more, the same people that worked in Witcher from 1 to 3 are most likely not involved in Witcher 4. They destroyed cannon, and broke lore straight up by making Ciri go through the Witcher mutation. She doesn't even need it, Ciri is powerful enough as herself. Ciri always wanted to become a Witcher but never could, even if she could survive the trials because of her uniqueness, Geralt wouldn't ever allow Ciri to try to go thought the Witcher trials, he wouldn't ever taken the risk of losing her. This game already makes no sense.
It's known that witchers can't have kids. Now that Ciri went through the trials of the grasses, how can she fulfill the prophecy of having a child that will save or destroy the world when she can't even get pregnant anymore? I'm interested to see how they go around that plot hole.
@@neville2308 7:19 The lore designer himself said: "There are various interpretations of the prophecy but essentially they believe that Ciri's child will either be the savior of the world or the avenger who destroys it." I didn't read the books myself. PS. Even if it's not her child, how can she have heirs who will inherit it if she can't reproduce? Perhaps her elder blood will prevent her from becoming infertile after the mutagenic process.
Maybe that's the point? Ciri spent her entire life running away from people who want to use her as a breeding stock either because of her titles or the power of the elder blood. By becoming sterile she could make that pointless, which would allow her to live in relative peace (though that might not be the right word to describe a witcher's life). She may also want to make sure that the prophecy does not come to pass and she won't give birth to someone who destroys the world.
Ciri despises destiny and hates her elder blood. Ciri would absolutely go through the trials to make it impossible to continue prophecy. She hates prophecy.

Aaaaaa I’m so excited, I was hoping Ciri would be the protagonist of the new saga!! But is it actually confirmed she went through the trial of grass or is this just an assumption due to her eyes? Idk, she was already so powerful on Witcher 3 that I don’t see how she’d need to be mutated in order to work as a witcher (even if that way she wouldn’t be a “witcher” witcher, but that doesn’t matter if she’s working as one anyway). Or maybe she went through it but ended up being imune to multiple parts of it in order to like fit the rest of the lore? Or maybe she like selectively chose the mutations she wanted, if that’s even possible? Idk, tho personally I’d rather if she just didn’t went through the mutations and we got to experience all her elder blood power instead. (also, I wouldn’t want her to go emotionless and stuff)
Only thing I didn’t like was that Ciri isn’t going to be neutral What does that mean when it comes to story choices or am I going to be forced to lean a certain way?
Witchers being boys only isn't a biological or nature-thing. It's the same amount of sexism that plagues the world of the Witcher in it's entirety that acts as a backdrop for every single female character's rise to power. The Lodge of Sorceresses rule the world from the shadows because nobody expects women to be powerful in this world. Philipa is arguably the strongest human in the series. (After Ciri) Kids weren't chosen to be witchers because of some "The trials don't work on non-kids!!". Kids were chosen to undergo the trials because witcher training had to start when the person was young. Young people have no wordly attachments. No identity. Especially those that are orphans or child surprises. Ciri wants to be free of her destiny. She says so at the end of Witcher 3. "As long as the elder blood flows through me, people will be after me. I will never be free." She breaks free of her prophecy by undergoing the trials. The trials aren't a big, unknown secret. It's actually very well known to us, within witcher 3. Yennefer learns how to actually do the trials when she breaks Uma's curse. And In BaW, the mutation-doctor quest explains everything there is to know about the mutagens used to make more witchers. Put the two together, wham bam. New Witchers can be made. The mystery is who did it to Ciri and how did it change her. Did she keep some of her elder blood power? All of them? None of them? Did she even keep them at the end of Witcher 3, or did defeating the white frost burn through them?
Nobody is after her for her child. Nobody is gonna look to put a mutant on a throne, so her cintra & nilfgaardian royal status is meaningless now. Her blood can never burn the world. She is free. Being a witcher was how Geralts destiny came to be. It facilitated his entire life. Becoming a witcher is how Ciri breaks free of her destiny.
Damn, how well you presented it. I didn’t think about it in that way. But it seems to me there will be something more to make it easier for the player to believe in what is happening. At the expense of her power, Ciri draws water and makes electricity in the trailer, gives the circuit fire, but at the same time she uses a shield. As I understand it, she doesn’t have much power left, but she has magic and signs. From the point of view of character development, it should be interesting.
If you look at the actual lore (instead of just making up your own) There are obvious biological reasons for it to have to be male children!! I am for one not against making changes to existing lore if it is done with respekt and valid reasoning. Furthermore major lore changes needs to be told in game with a credible lore based story in game there brings the players up to date. Not just ohh by the way this major change is how the world works now and we wont bother explaining it.
@@thomasjensen2285 What biological reasons? Name one instance where it's made clear it's a biological fact that women can't become witchers. It's only ever stated, as far as I can recall, that women _aren't_ turned into witchers. Not that they _can't_. There's also the component of women being useful in society in a different way than say, a spare son or an orphan is. An orphan boy in the witcher is never gonna become very much of anything. An orphan girl could marry or bear offsprings, etc. Again, the underappreciation of women's power is an essential theme in the witcher books & story, lol. "and making up my own lore" Are you high? @@nestr4521 Yeah! I think it's clear that Ciri will be a different kind of witcher from Geralt. Both in abilities and in terms of personality, and I think that's the point. It's very exciting stuff!
Also worth noting that Yennefer and Geralt both acquire the two halves to make an improved version of the trials in Witcher 3. Yennefer perfects the mechanics of the trial. Geralt finds the most advanced mutagenic research in the world in BaW, which further mutates himself. There's no reason to believe Yenn and Geralt wouldn't be able to create a way for Ciri to undergo the trials that's completely safe, and more powerful than the mutations most witchers went through. Even if Ciri would be more than willing to take the gamble of 1/3.
Its wild how weak Geralt is in the beginning. Getting his ass handed to him by tavern scum. Even if you dont lose they are straight up knocking the filth out of him.

Personally I don't mind Ciri being a Witcher I believe it's one of many interesting directions they could of gone with. As readers and gamers we only know what we've seen, this universe is expanding and lots can change and happen. Hardcore fans in almost every fandom will hook onto a sentence or like a paragraph in a previous book and become very defensive if something doesn't follow exactly what they read previously. Until we learn more though, speculation and ofc in this point of time finger pointing of Wokeness. In the end though it's a fantasy world of magic and a shit ton of weird who knows what can be done. Also if I remember correctly CD Project Red has only tried to respect the books but also telling a story of their own meaning they aren't going to be 100% lore accurate.
Funny that they mention Yeneffer teaching Ciri magic but omit important bit that Ciri lost typical magic used by mages in desert arc. So she should be left only with elder blood one which was supposed to not be removable by any means. Meanwhile it looks like the opposite from trailer since she draws power from water (normal magic) and doesn't use space-time one from elder blood. Other part is that witcher by lore were made from young boys while she's adult women at the end of witcher 3 with no mutations. And that is not even mentioning that knowledge of mutations was lost to time. Even if there would be way of doing so all known witchers so far were much against trying to make new witchers from anybody, even to try part of trial of grasses to remove the curse (UMA). Survival rate was also like 1/10. Wonder how they will explain Ciri undergoing them while knowing all that even if she would find a way. All in all looks like they wanted known female protagonist and didn't care much for lore cohesion. Didn't explain any changes too. Trailer quality much worse than the Witcher 3 ones.
Read the books. It was stated that Ciri would be the key to creating a new and improved method of creating Witchers, so she might not even had to undergo the trial of grasses.
@@NarTVipeR Yeah, people like you are the issue. Claiming to deny something without factchecking yourself and not posting any evidence either. It's due to majority being ignorants fantasy related games and films are going more and more to shit. I guess you didn't read the books and didn't even bother player wither 1 and 2. If you spent any effort whatsoever you would know that you are just stating bullshit. I'll spare you some time searching, here are quotes from books: Dialogue Ciri with unicorn in time of contempt: "But the being has the Power. Should it wish to make use of it… It will not be able to use it. Never. It relinquished it. It relinquished the Power. Utterly. The Power disappeared. It is most curious…" Dialogue Ciri with Lady of the lake: "And I once renounced my power,’ said Ciri slowly, still kneeling on the blood-soaked cobbles. ‘Had I not renounced it I would have saved him now. I would have healed him, I know it. But it’s too late. I renounced it and now I can’t do anything. It’s as though I’ve killed him.’" As for witcher schools there is not one single mention neither in books nor games for women to be able to become one. And since witchers existed for vastly long time there has to be a reason for it, it wouldn't make sense for people not to try it so it had to fail every time.

In the first game one of the female mutant you fight is pretty much a female version of the witcher.
It's called retcon, prepare yourself for more.
@@lexalexa3604I highly doubt the author of the original books wasn’t involved. I wouldn’t be too concerned.
So, CDPR have a "Lore masters" who're not actually experts in original Lore. What a surprise

I thought the prophecy was done when she ended the White Frost.
Honestly I think she was trying to get back control of her life. Everyone and their dog wanted to impregnate her when she was literally just a child, including her bio dad 🤢 and besides throughout the books. Ciri never wanted to get married or have children. All she ever wanted in life was be a Witcher
Aside from the whole part where every piece of lore from the books and last 3 games say she cant be witcher.....

With all due respect i never could get into the Witcher and i have tried it on numerous systems .. i feel weird almost because everyone seems to love it on the internet ; and despite me not being able to like it as much, i still can see why people would like it because it has many qualities .. 😅
People did not like Final Fantasy 16 but i did, some people could not get into Vampyr and it is one of my favourite games ..
I am not into medieval setting but i enjoyed the small part of Kingdom Come Deliverance i played years ago ..
I dont know whenever the witcher 3 is being spoken of, i really would like to feel the same but i am more attracted to the universe/ambiance of Cyberpunk 2077 despite not being able to play through the prologue because i played it on Ps4 slim in 2022 and i am actually thinking about getting it again ..
I am even more interested into other Lores that might be boring for the majority or just not as many players ( Banishers, Vampyr, Vampire The Masquerade Swansong, Final Fantasy 16, Kingdom Come Deliverance etc etc ..
I even enjoyed some lore on Star Wars Jedi Survivor more than Fallen Order ).
Ps : Despite it all, i would like to give The Witcher 3 and see if i can get into it 😅 , i like the Vampires, Werewolf, Ghosts and other monsters in it.
What playes who played Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 preferes ? 😊
I love how the team at project red actually use and reference the source materials of the Witcher and use it to enhance the stories instead of tossing it aside like Netflix did since they can clearly write a better story. That’s why their show is doing so well.

The books specifically State females cannot be witchers.. but let's change the lore for inclusion and equity
@@chancellorgowron8992 Ok, so according to the books, just cancel Witcher 1, 2 and 3, they shouldn't exist.
@@chancellorgowron8992 REEEEEEEEEE!!!

I want more Geralt. Ciri in my mind became empress lol.
Geralt retired as a millionaire to his villa with Yenn.
Ciri as Empress was never going to be canon, the entire book series is about Ciri chosing to not be a god and chosing to become a Witcher.
Then wait for the Witcher 1 remake because it's next after this releasing
Geralt's journey is over. Let the wolf rest already.
Right because after telling Emyr the last time she saw him "I'll rip your throat out with my teeth." Totally makes since for her to want to be around him as empress
I’m excited! The only issue I have is that I thought they lost the secrets to make witchers..but other than that I think it looks great 😄
I see the guys have read the books a lot and understand the lore.
The gaming community has become infested with incels who cannot stand a female having any other role but eye candy.
Anybody else a lil disappointed that we aren’t getting a new storyline ?

I think because many are tired of the strong and independent female protagonist because 9/10 is written so badly and turned into the usual unbearable authoritarian figure.
Others are afraid that the plot has been put aside to promote political ideas (you can't blame them because lately it happens everywhere...)
I personally have no problem with Ciri as a protagonist, as long as they don't ruin her entire development as a character.
Looking forward to this. I’ve tried playing the other 3 games but couldn’t get into them. I just couldn’t click with Geralt, dunno why.
God i can't wait Ciri is one of my favorite characters in tw3
Why did she need to be a Mutant like the Actual witcher if she is already powerful? Geralt would have not make her take the trial cause he cared soooo much for her and the mortality rate for taking the trial was high and he would not have risk her life for it and i remember they mentioning the secrets to make witcher was lost. Many questions to answer.
It's not up to Geralt.

CDPR gave us better Witcher content than Netflix and the author himself. We're in good hands because *fate cannot be changed.*
From Witcher 1 to 3, this new one is highly debatable ...
I'm so hipped for this game!!
It's known that witchers can't have kids. Now that Ciri went through the trials of the grasses, how can she fulfill the prophecy of having a child that will save or destroy the world when she can't even get pregnant anymore? I'm interested to see how they go around that plot hole.
I thought it just said a child of the elder blood. Not Ciri’s kid specifically?
@@neville2308 7:19 The lore designer himself said: "There are various interpretations of the prophecy but essentially they believe that Ciri's child will either be the savior of the world or the avenger who destroys it." I didn't read the books myself.
PS. Even if it's not her child, how can she have heirs who will inherit it if she can't reproduce? Perhaps her elder blood will prevent her from becoming infertile after the mutagenic process.
Also maybe mutagens affect women differently than men? Witchers are typically male could only sterilize men.
So excited to see post dimensional travel Ciri with mantis arms and sandevistan cyberware

It doesn't actually. Example- Lambert is a goddamn prick who laughs at Geralt and Geralt laughs with him too. Also the Kaer Morhen drinking sequence when all the brothers are clearly happy and in a goofy mood. Its just the trauma of the trials getting in their way and supressing their emotions

(After Ciri)
Kids weren't chosen to be witchers because of some "The trials don't work on non-kids!!".
I will never be free."
She breaks free of her prophecy by undergoing the trials.
Everything I brought up is at most interpretation of events in the story without any clear endings. I made clear arguments for why it's reasonable. Redo your lessons on litterature. learn how to do a thematic analysis before you talk.

Hardcore fans in almost every fandom will hook onto a sentence or like a paragraph in a previous book and become very defensive if something doesn't follow exactly what they read previously.

Dialogue Ciri with unicorn in time of contempt:
"But the being has the Power. Should it wish to make use of it…
It will not be able to use it. Never. It relinquished it. It relinquished the Power. Utterly. The Power disappeared. It is most curious…"
Dialogue Ciri with Lady of the lake:
"And I once renounced my power,’ said Ciri slowly, still kneeling on the blood-soaked cobbles. ‘Had I not renounced it I would have saved him now. I would have healed him, I know it. But it’s too late. I renounced it and now I can’t do anything. It’s as though I’ve killed him.’"
As for witcher schools there is not one single mention neither in books nor games for women to be able to become one. And since witchers existed for vastly long time there has to be a reason for it, it wouldn't make sense for people not to try it so it had to fail every time.
