This makes you respect the pilots of JAL 123 for being able to keep their 747 in the air for over 30 minutes!
The fact that everyone tried to fly in that situation and failed show's how skillful they're
@@Randomly_Browsing Ye, shows the skill but also how powerful adrenaline is you know
Everyone talking about AA587 and JAL 123 but no one talking about DHL 611
@@0w3nn First of all, the plane was right next to the airport, secondly, the plane was easier to control as you only have to monitor 2 engines, and thirdly the vertical stabilizer was there so the plane wouldn’t just go be dumb but you are correct they were the first to land with 0 hydraulics.
@@juanleon3875 dude that’s not the flight I’m talking about how about you go and google dhl 611 before posting something like that

I’d like to see the stabilizer move left/right around the body of the plane just to see how it would affect things.

True
Car drifting: ❌️
AIRCRAFT DRIFTING: ✅️
In airliners, they do kinda need all the vertical stabilizer to fly properly, but with Military planes, some can fly pretty well even without some of the vertical stablizer, for example in 1964, a B-52 bomber managed to land safely while missing most of its vertical stabilizer
But with the b52 it has 8 engines, to counteract any instability.
@@zarimations7735 and even then it landed with difficulty
@@0w3nn yeah, even with 4 engines like the 747, which would counteract insability better than a twin jet. The rudder would still be necessary, a case study I can think of is jal 123. Not sure if the b52 crew also lost hydraulic power
F-15 with ripped off wing in the corner 😆
The fact that not only jal 123 lost most of its vertical stabiliser all hydraulic system was completely destroyed make it impossible to control. But the crew still managed to “fly” it about 30 minutes is crazy.

Swiss was about to change planes forever but science said nah 💀
the center of drag will also move forward, further destabilizing the plane
Did you try to controln it by adding more thrust on the engines that are on the side opposite to the direction of yaw?
37 seconds! Love ur vids btw
20 seconds
As such a critical component for flight, I’m surprised there isn’t a very small backup vertical stabilizer with a rudder that can be extended from the fuselage possibly from the bottom
AA587 was caused by The Pilot Who Put Too Much Input on the rudder which ripped off the tail and JAL123 was caused by a faulty tail repair after a Tailstrike while landing in 1978 (I Think)
You know a video is GOOD, when the title says something about how much we ACTUALLY need (something) component in the plane.
Let's get Swiss to 1m subs by the end of the year!

Can you use differential thrust to save yourself?
U should see what happens if you make the horizontal stabilizer and wings bigger lol

You should try with the autopilot on. I wanna see if it can control heading by using thrust differential.

I mean it is an interesting topic for sure considering how it happened back then
maybe airplane makers can take notes from this and make a certain part of the vertical stabilizer 100% stable so that we don't repeat history

I'm surprised with how long you held up. All pilots who tried a JAL 123 Simulator didn't make it as long as the pilots did. The pilots held on for 32 minutes.
no bro he held up for a total of 20 seconds
Sir Swiss001 you always forgot set flaps before take off
What flight sim does he use?
Probably x-plane 12
"a ground collision with a...ninja" ☠
Differential thrust left the chat-
hm yeah I wonder if the airplane could at least be controllable with differential thrust. But differential thrust definitely won't help if the airplane is already in a deep spin so it's up to the pilot to immediately change the throttles within the first five seconds to prevent a spin which is pretty unlikely
Can't this be corrected/compensated with the engines spinning asymmetrically?
7:33 me flying the plane that I just made in Drawbricks:
