      French 3 stars cuisine is unfortunately not very profitable, compared to the amount of work that is put in.
      My theory is that Bernard Loiseau committed suicide over it, as despite relentless work for 35 years, he could barely reach profitability, so when he was slightly degraded by the Gault and Millau, that was the straw that unfortunately broke the camel's back.

    Considering how expensive my local Diner is now, $25 for cheeseburger / french fries (when you factor in tax and tip). This Le Louis XV Alain Ducasse Restairamt is a bargain at $450. I used to order out at least a few times a week from a restaurant, but now I just stopped going to restaurants all together because of the prices. I would rather just save my money and then once or twice a year go to a really nice upscale restaurant for a celebration.

    It's funny how many people would prefer a burger from a fast food restaurant over this menu and had the urge to write this in the comments. It's pretty obvious that there are two worlds. If someone pays 414 Euros for a menu, it's not about 100 Euros more or less, it's a lifestyle dedicated to the extraordinaire. I personally prefer other things for that money but I see the beauty of having these gourmet experiences a few times in a lifetime. If people are so fond of their cheap foods, one has just to look at obesity rates in certain countries. There was always a certain pretentiousness about the French cuisine. A fast food shop is found everywhere in the world and street food can be extremely yummi too. Nobody said, that eating at Ducasse prevents a person to try out cheaper and simpler food in the beautiful towns and cities at the French riviera. Non industrial food in France is just heaven on earth.

    • @MonteCarloGaz
      @MonteCarloGaz ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ve lived on the Riviera (Côte d’Azur) for the last 10 and a half years and can tell you the food is bang average here. You’re right, French food is pretentious and expensive but doesn’t deliver on taste like when I visit Asian restaurants in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Bangkok etc. Plus all the waiters bowing their heads and being subservient, I hate that. Nah, French food isn’t the best food in the world, it isn’t even the best food in Western Europe. Go to Spain and Italy for that at a fraction of the price.

    One special thing about places on this category is that the level of detail service is so high that they infuse the sense of gift on every plate and gesture, so despite the fact that the bill pays for all they offer you, you still feel they are giving you a lot: every plate has abundance in detail, there are palate cleanser and other perks between courses, they chef gives you something to snack before you order, they give you something to take home. A wonderful sense of love for you, for good service and for the magic of food.

    The Michelin 3-star is not only about the food, it is every tiny detail from the greeting to the cutlery to the service, the decor, the space between tables, and of course the food. Usually they are very quiet, I am surprised by the level of noise here, cutlery clanking, chairs scraping on the floor, loud voices. That would put me off this one. 🇦🇺

They'd all just taste the same. I dunno. If you offered me a free meal here I'd be jazzed about it but it hardly seems worth the price point, especially with that dirty tablecloth and crazy noise level. You gotta realize it's not just about the food, you're paying for the experience. That's why the presentation, service, ingredients are all extraordinary because the experience is what people pay for. I can watch football at home, and get better views, and play by play commentary, cheaper beer and food, but I go to the stadium for the experience which is why I'm willing to pay $400 for a ticket and $15 beers. I'm buying an experience. But because this is geared towards the wealthy people feel the need to hate on it, as if they are somehow above it. If you wouldn't want to experience this meal service at least once in your life there's something wrong with you lol. And this is coming from a country boy in the midwest ha. This looks incredible!

    I’ve been to over a handful of Michelin star restaurants (always 2-3 stars). And let me tell you guys, the food isn’t worth the money EVERYTIME. It’s all pretentious and made for the people who have so much money that they don’t know what to spend it on. People who claim that these food are for people with finer pallet are lying to themselves, too.

    • @justaguy328
      @justaguy328 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You don't go to a restaurant like this simply for good tasting food, it's for the experience. You've been to more 2-3 star michelin restaurants than 99% of people on Earth, yet I doubt you have so much money you don't know what to do with it. Some people will spend a few hundred dollars on sports tickets a few times a year, and some people will go to a restaurant that offers an incredible experience like this a few times a year. You don't need to be a billionaire to afford a $450 meal every now and again, just like you don't need to be a billionaire to afford football tickets that cost $450 a few times a year. This is an incredible level of service, presentation, ingredients, etc. I've never been to a michelin restaurant, but I can appreciate something like this because it's extraordinary and I don't have to hate on it because it's geared towards the wealthy.

    as someone looking to get into the chef trade, not knowing much about cooking or who Alain Ducasse is... this surprised me. you're paying for the experience more than anything. not my type of thing, personally, but i respect the creativity. the steamed fish especially, very cool. i dont think i'd ever pay to visit such a place but its nice to have a glimpse into all that and how food can be a sort of fine-art. that slice of bread with butter and oil made me laugh, so simple, the food equivalent of modern art i suppose! if i worked there i'd serve a fancy beans on toast!

      Try doing a bit or research and reading up a bit about the culinary field. Background included, it’ll help you lots in school. By the time you’re done you’ll know about a lot of famous chefs. And you’ll even aspire to work for some. Fine Dining is about so much more but the experience makes up the better part of it. I doubt anyone goes there for beans on toast, regardless of how fancy.
