Is MitoQ Really Better than CoQ10 and Ubiquinol?

  • This was an interesting question from our Instagram Stories Q&A. MitoQ is marketed as being up to 1000x more effective at getting into the mitochondria than CoQ10. Let's dig into this and see if we can figure out where this number comes from and how it stacks up to CoQ10 and Ubiquinol.

    Thanks for taking the time to thoroughly research and share your findings. I too was debating on whether to continue supplementing with Mito Q. I have used the recommended dosage for Mito Q for 3 months and 1.5x the dosage for a further 3 months. Similarly, I used the high quality supplement by Pharma Nord, Bio-Quinone Active Q10 Gold, 200mg for the same duration and found no difference in terms of overall energy levels. I am aged 65 yrs and participate in long distance running and wanted additional support during my marathon training.

    Interesting video. Here’s what I can say about my own experience. MitoQ seems far more effective at supporting cardiovascular health than COQ10. It has literally stopped chest pains for me. The only thing that compares is liposomal coq10.

      haha! funny that it's easier to find this video than to find the supplement facts on their website! 😄 In case you're still interested in seeing the ingredients, the active ingredient is 10mg of MitoQ (mitoquinol mesylate) and then the inactive ingredients are Tapioca starch, Microcrystalline cellulose, Hypromellose, Silica - colloidal anhydrous, Purified water.

    1. What is the ONE supplement you think everyone should have

    3. What is the best supplement or thing to incorporate for a healthy heart

      @addictivewellness  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      1. There's so many different people out there, I think no one supplement is going to work for 100% of people. But if I had to recommend 1 supplement and 1 herb to a wide audience, it would probably be Magnesium Glycinate and Astragalus.
      2. It depends what stage of life... in your 20s as you said in your other comment, I would say blue butterfly flower or tremella mushroom.
      3. Ubiquinol will of course be very good for heart health, but I would also focus on blood sugar management as I mentioned in the other comment.

    Hi, what in your opinion is the best supplement for healthy arteries? I am in my 20s but worried about my heart health and have already developed a blood clot. Its so hard to find a single supplemt that I can easily incorporate to diet changes. I know diet/lifestyle is everything but I would feel better having a supplement I can take that will be more therapeutcic.

    • @addictivewellness
      @addictivewellness  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it was me, I would focus on healthy blood sugar balance to avoid arterial issues. So for that, I'd say berberine would be my #1. But it's tough to just say that, because there's so much that can be done from a diet and lifestyle perspective. And for clot prevention, I would think about systemic enzymes like serrapeptase.

    • @theancientsancients1769

A 2022 study that looked at adult human kidney after one dose, found no problems. Longer studies not focused on kidney health haven't reported any kidney issues to my knowledge. 1. What do you think about Nicotinamide Mononucleotide, Resveratrol, Metformin, and Rapamycin?
    2. With there being so many anti-aging products. As much as possible, how do we reduce redundancy?

    • @addictivewellness
      @addictivewellness  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Great topics for future videos! In brief, I definitely look forward to seeing more research on all of these, but based on what we know now, I'm a big fan of NMN and have seen some pretty amazing results in people using this in liposomal form in combination with resveratrol. (Such as my partner being able to get off of bioidentical hormones because she started making enough of her own again.) The potential synergistic effects of NMN and resveratrol are very exciting. I'm more hesitant with metformin due to some concerns with it's interference with B12 absorption and blocking of hormetic benefits of exercise and I think a lot of the benefits could be more naturally obtained via berberine. I am admittedly undereducated of rapamycin, but I am concerned about liver and kidney toxicity and immune suppression... I would want to see more substantiation and safety data before trying this myself.
      To your second question, I would say first make sure you're doing all the basic practices for healthy living first (clean eating, quality sleep, exercise, etc.) then try to understand a bit about the methods of action of each of the supplements you're considering... i.e. are they working on mitochondria, perhaps acting on certain genes, etc. and just avoid possibly taking 2 different supplements that already have very similar methods of action. (Unless of course some research shows them to be synergistic in some way, then maybe stack them after all!) 😄

      In my experience with nootropics, before elevating the mind, one must have the body ready for it, that is good sleep, exercising often, and eating well. Now I'm new to anti-aging supplements, but I would assume to get the best out of it, those 3 things I mentioned earlier are also needed.
      Another thing I learned from nootropics is to take breaks for the body to heal and clean any toxins from the nootropics, I wonder if that's good practice for all other supplements.
      A nootropics expert recommended to me "N-Acetyl L-Cysteine" to protect the liver from nootropics, I wonder if you have something of the kind for all the things you take (this should also be a great topic for a video).
      Passed down in my family is aloe vera, this has healed my body from things doctors have said I would have for the rest of my life. I get the crystal part of an entire plant, and mix it with orange juice to negate the bad taste. I take these for 3 days, and phenomenal healing takes place.
      I would see how I can get NMN and resveratrol. Any recommendation on where to buy them?
      One final note, I would love to see a video of your journey into how you reached to the supplements you're taking today. In my opinion, if you can also rank them in terms of effectivity and whether the benefits are something that working out alone won't do.
      PS: I expect great things from you. Blessing to you and the lady. Pura Vida!

      @@npc-drew Very cool that you're so deep into the aloe- it's a magical plant indeed! I like to blend the contents of a large leaf with fermented coconut water, lemon, stevia, turmeric and schizandra.
      N-Acetyl Cysteine is great as a glutathione precursor, but harder to obtain these days since the FDA is trying to make it accessible by prescription only. You can also cut to the chase and take liposomal glutathione.
      For NMN, check out the Lipo Gel from Renue By Science. The formulation isn't quite as pure as I'd love it to be in the ideal world, but the benefits of the NMN you're getting should drastically outweigh any small negatives from the other ingredients. They put a little resveratrol in there too, but just a small dose. They do sell pure 99% pure resveratrol powder at a reasonably affordable price. Bulk Supplements has it less expensive but 98% pure. I haven't used either of these for resveratrol though, so I can't speak from experience.

      A few things have changed since then, like not taking the Pendulum probiotics anymore, but most is still the same.
      Thank you so much for the video ideas, these are super helpful! I'm always trying to come up with new video concepts, so I always appreciate suggestions!
      Thanks for all the good vibes! Pura Vida! (I spent a lot of time in Costa Rica from age 14-20, so those words mean a lot to me!) 😄🙏🏼

      @@npc-drew Oh yeah, Dr. Sinclair is great! Such a wealth of knowledge. I think I can cut his 1 hr talks down to 10 minutes if I just remove all the disclaimers about not giving health advice, needing to see further research and not being people's personal doctor! 😅 haha! But of course I totally respect and understand why he needs to put all those in there, especially in the position that he's in. In all seriousness, this is a great idea for me to look into doing, thank you!

    Don't waste your money on Ubiquinol. Its oxidized to the cheaper Ubiquinone before being absorbed. Plenty of research out there.

      Hi Terry! In the case of young and healthy people, I agree with you! But one’s conversion ability can vary depending on age, health and genetics. So I'd say the older and less healthy one is, the more likely he or she is to be better off taking Ubiquinol. But even if we don't have the same exact view on this, I'm sure we'd agree on 99.9% of things! 🙌🏼

    All the ubiqunnol supplements also have seed oi in them. MitoQ doesn't. I take MitoQ for that reason
