Should be able to. At your own risk, of course. I think that the Maestro units are compatible with that year Accord now. If they had it available when I did this, I would have gone that route. Less of a headache.
I know you stated below you wouldn’t attempt this again but I only want to replace my head unit for CarPlay and not touch my sound system or anything else complicated, so do you think that part is easy to do by a non-professional?
It would be about the same as what I did in the video. I have a few links in the description that show how they did it as well. I believe one of them only upgraded the head unit to CarPlay like you’re asking about. There’s another link for a harness that you can get on eBay to achieve what I’ve done in the video. Personally, I’d check with Crutchfield and see if the Maestro interface is compatible with that generation of Accord yet. That would probably be you’re best bet, and you shouldn’t have to take apart and bury the factory radio like I did.
It's such a shame how builds start with all the right intentions and keeping it completely reversable, then you're stuck with a car half-assembled and a problem that seems to ruin the whole project from being worth it. Next thing you know you've got the metal snips out. It's really a shame about that clock setting issue too. I guess if you're in a state that's moved past that stupid system it's no big deal at least, but ouch for everyone else. The kit costs 400 dollars on crutchfield, I think it should come with a fully functional harness personally. Would be interested to see how that one mentioned by defcon one is able to solve all of the issues you encountered here.
I’ve read that you can disable the clock, but I haven’t gotten around to doing that yet. But I agree totally about that kit. Being aftermarket, you’d think it would be better than the factory equipment. But those are the issues with car audio systems these days with all the extras that come with cars.
I didn’t run into those issues. That’s what I did though. Everything is plugged back in the factory radio. Just power going to the new head unit. Only issue I had was with the Bluetooth buttons on the steering wheel not working. I’d probably start just making sure all the connectors are in. There’re so many back there that it’d be easy to miss one.
I had to take the plastic panel off below the steering wheel and ran the wire down there, around to the side, up the a-pillar, then tucked the wire along the headliner.
Realy they don't make a button you can plug into it and mount it some place.. hold up did you get a harness for it or did you skip buying the 350 harness
It’s the only way to do it because the controls for the upper screen run through the factory radio. But it doesn’t always happen when needed, so the time is usually wrong anyway 🤣
@@ThePaleBean Nothing had to be stripped for the camera. It was just the process of taking the factory radio apart that was a pain. The interface I used in the other video worked fine, but the picture quality was bad for the backup camera.
I’m pretty sure you can. The factory USB is still connected, but behind the dash with the old radio. I can give you a definite answer later on since I have to do a little work to the car soon.
A little bit of both. I didn’t want to put too much of an electrical load on the factory ACC wire. The ACC wire of the factory harness turns on the factory unit and triggers the relay. The relay closes the circuit of the wire that becomes the ACC wire for the aftermarket unit.

@@AyyJayy02 I just want CarPlay and my car's normal features.
Are you using Premiere or Final Cut or . . . ?
@@jeramybearamy8539 I just finished my 2015 Accord Install with the Maestro RR2, HO2 harness & Kenwood DMX907S - Everything works great, except the imid screen is _blank_ (backup camera etc. display on the Kenwood) ... If Anyone can help me figure out how to get the imid back with the RR2, that would be awesome!
I see you "know how to"
Do you know how to make tail lights always ON(day and night) when light switch is in "auto" position? (accord 2015)
I’d imagine you’d be able to do it with a relay or two somehow connected to the DRL. Only issue I see is that if the DRL is a dimmed high beam, it doesn’t put out enough voltage to trigger a 12V relay. That’s how it was in my 09 Civic Si. I can’t really give you a full answer since I’ve never tried that before though.
Any info on doing this to an Accord EX-L? Only info I can find is that it’s complex.
Got a link in the description in the “useful links” section. It’s a pretty detailed thread
Do you know why the engine light comes on
degbdsognnfjj it’s not on in the video. The seatbelt light is on. No trouble lights at all.
@@AyyJayy02 What I mean is I took it to a company to install then my engine light came on. When I took the aftermarket radio out and put the factory radio back in it when off. Thanks for answering so fast
I’m not sure. I don’t know what’s connected to the radio that could cause the check engine light to come on. I’m sure they could fix it for you.
Am I able to do this with the Honda Accord 2017 Sport?
Should be able to. At your own risk, of course. I think that the Maestro units are compatible with that year Accord now. If they had it available when I did this, I would have gone that route. Less of a headache.
Does your right camera and back camera work?
It only has the rear backup camera on the Sport. It works perfectly though.
? You left all plugs plugged in to back of factory radio ? And just run of power to new deck? Correct???
I didn’t run into those issues. That’s what I did though. Everything is plugged back in the factory radio. Just power going to the new head unit. Only issue I had was with the Bluetooth buttons on the steering wheel not working. I’d probably start just making sure all the connectors are in. There’re so many back there that it’d be easy to miss one.
Hey there. How did you route the Bluetooth microphone up into the top?
I had to take the plastic panel off below the steering wheel and ran the wire down there, around to the side, up the a-pillar, then tucked the wire along the headliner.
Thanks! Will be attempting a double din install on my car soon.
Realy they don't make a button you can plug into it and mount it some place.. hold up did you get a harness for it or did you skip buying the 350 harness
This was done after I had already bought the interface with the dash kit. The interface was garbage though. The backup camera looked horrible on it.
@@AyyJayy02 you mean on the aftermarket radio? So it's do this complicated process or have shity backup camera 😂
@@esmokebaby Pretty much. Other option is to get a maestro unit, but I hear that it disables the top screen completely and it’s just blank.
@@AyyJayy02 as long as I get tpms oil reset ect I wouldn't mind
Take your radio out just to change time why?
It’s the only way to do it because the controls for the upper screen run through the factory radio. But it doesn’t always happen when needed, so the time is usually wrong anyway 🤣
Quick question where did u get your rugs from?
I think it was hondapartscheap.com. That’s where I get most of my OEM parts from.
Did the factory back up cam work?
It did. I wouldn’t do this again to another vehicle though. It was a pain.
@@AyyJayy02 sounds like it would haha did you have to strip any wiring? Or was it more technical
@@ThePaleBean Nothing had to be stripped for the camera. It was just the process of taking the factory radio apart that was a pain. The interface I used in the other video worked fine, but the picture quality was bad for the backup camera.
@@AyyJayy02 oh ok so you just have to keep the factory head unit in the back to used the factory cam?
Yeah, that’s where all of the top screen stuff runs through, unfortunately.
Jayy, If I wanted you to do this installation on my 2015 Honda Accord coupe, would you consider it? Let me know so we can swap info.
Sorry man, It’s too much of a liability. I don’t think I’ll ever do it again.
How well did the radio hold up
Still going strong.
@@AyyJayy02 do you still have tpms and other settings from factory available
Just the fuel mileage stuff is accessible using the steering wheel buttons. I don’t think it had a full readout of the TPMS. Could be wrong though.
This seem like a huge pain in the ass... no wonder they told me I needed a "dsr1"
It was. I think audio processors are the way to go with all the extra stuff added with cars now.
Quick question. Are you still able to import images into iMid to change background wallpaper?
I’m pretty sure you can. The factory USB is still connected, but behind the dash with the old radio. I can give you a definite answer later on since I have to do a little work to the car soon.
Can you do installs on my car?
I just do it as a hobby. For now, I only have time for my own projects and stuff for family and close friends.
What did you use the hdmi for?
I just have a connector port in case I want to plug something into it.
@@AyyJayy02 also man what did you use the relay for? For the aftermarket to turn on or to add some more juice for both systems to be running?
A little bit of both. I didn’t want to put too much of an electrical load on the factory ACC wire. The ACC wire of the factory harness turns on the factory unit and triggers the relay. The relay closes the circuit of the wire that becomes the ACC wire for the aftermarket unit.
@@AyyJayy02 can you send me every part or the parts you bought to make the relay? I just installed an Pioneer AVH 2500nex but I need to bury the headunit like you did to get the factory back up camera and factory gas mileage etc...
12V Automotive Relay with Socket Harness (5-Pack)
www.amazon.com/dp/B01M74X0ZK/
Terminal Strip (5-Pack)
www.amazon.com/dp/B074DDL68Y/
I used 16 Gauge stranded wire that I bought from Lowe’s. You can get the connectors there too. I attached the terminal strip and relay to a scrap piece of ABS that I had. That should be all you’ll need.
What size is that
7” touchscreen
I can’t find anyone that will do it
Wow that was a huge job
Yeah, I’ll never do it again.
Yea back up camera still works perfect
Did you upgrade your factory speakers ?
I did. Got some lower end Rockford Fosgates in there. May upgrade again eventually.
