Last year, Harley-Davidson launched its limited-edition Icons Collection, which revisits classic models or design themes and reimagines them using contemporary platforms, with the stunning Electra Glide Revival. The Motor Company has unveiled the second model in the collection, new harley icon el diablo. It will be a limited one-time build of only 1,500 serialized bikes. The Lowrider El Diablo is based on the popular Low Rider ST that mimics the characteristic style of the 1983 FXRT.

I mean a paint job like that is worth $5,000 in general so the price tag makes sense and it’s accurate.. Also a 1998 Dyna convertible was $14,580 in 1998 also that article from the FXR 2, & 3 were $18,000 a piece in 1999 so the price is actually pretty reasonable for todays standards with inflation you take that FXDS-CONV and price it based on inflation from 1998-2022 it’s $26,491.86 just a word of wisdom to people with price

I hate that paint job! Then again I hate red ! They should have other color options. Gun metal grey. Black. Blue. Hell even White. Anything but red!!

Perfume on a pig! Another way for HD to take the same old bike. Dress it in a modern dress. And call it something new. A 30k+ Softail. And they will sell all of them. Because there is a sucker born every minute.

The reason for the price difference is more then paint. It has the 117 motor not the 114. An it has other differences also. An the paint job isn't your standard paint job either. It's a numbered bike an will only b x amount of them so it will make it hold its value better over time. Harley does it alot. They got the radical paint program they pick a few certain models an make a small run. I got a newer wide glide an it has the radical paint program an only a hundred made. It's sometimes worth it to b different an have something that majority of ppl don't

For 6K you can have a darn great paint job done outside the dealer
But when I get a kawasaki that's super reliable and cheap I need to get a "real bike". And I don't want to buy a 1500 dollar iPhone I'm a "broke boy". Lol thank God I don't give a shit what other people think

It’s a beautiful bike but I much prefer that blue, revival, Electra glide from last year. That’s a true icon.
With these ridiculous prices I see absolutely no reason to trade in my older paid-for Harley. If they think these new bikes are supposed to tempt me trade in, let it be known it's doing exactly the opposite.

Definitely keep the older bike. A Harley is a Harley and what suits you won’t necessarily suit others (and vice-versa). Make it your own and ride the shit outta it. 👌🤘

I hear you brother. In 2006, I purchased my low miles 1997 H-D sporty evo with cash, rode it off the lot, and I am still riding the same bike to this day. If and when the engine/gearbox gives up the ghost, I'll pull it, rebuild it, put it back together, install it, and get on down the road.

I did the "upgrade" to a twin cam 88 from a Evo Sportster and ever since I've been wanting another Evo Sportster.
@@jamessouthworth1699 The twin cam was garbage until the bugs were worked out of it, and it still isn't near as good as the evo. The evo, regardless if it was in a Sporty or the larger bikes, is the best engine H-D built and their worst mistake. I say it was their worst mistake because it is damned near bullet proof and holds together under the most brutal operating conditions. But when the evo expires, it does so in a violent manor, as evo racers very well know. I know a biker gal who owns a 1994 H-D Lowrider (a daily rider) who religiously serviced her bike until she had to rebuild it after 500,000 plus documented miles. If that doesn't say bullet proof and longevity, i don't know what does.

@@freebehindbars8654 Actually, I have a friend that is doing just that. Bought a straight ST and is dropping about $1800 on a custom paint job. Much cheaper than El Mucho Dinero.
@@m.f.m.67 But it won’t have the resell or draw of a factory limited bike. I’d rather customize it myself and actually get a little more power, better running motor for less than a “special” HD paint schemes. It does look good though, just can’t justify the price unless you buy it to eventually resell.

LOL it's funny, this had to have been done before the release of the bike, cause they hit the showrooms and no one bought them, and some dealers cut the insane prices they were asking and some sold, As far as Iconic this to me was a FLOP !! i worked for Harley in dealerships from 73 to 2010 and i remember the FXRT and how we couldn't give them away, the FXR however sold much better i owned 2 of them and FXR Superglide and an FXLR Lowrider custom, Now when my local dealers got theirs in a didn't look that closely, so i could be wrong here, but i didn't see and sound system, and i think the new fairing is uglier than the FXRT fairing and that was and is butt ugly LOL
I would never pay over 30 grand for a motorcycle, that's insane especially for a new, modern one. I won't even spend over 8-9grand, too many good models you can get for 7-8grand. A motorcycle should never cost as much or more than a car...two wheels and motor compared to four with a roof and doors ...get out of here

I'm old now and my '99 Heritage stock Springer is fine with me. I was always into vintage bikes. My '99 is the newest bike I've ever owned. I'm low and slow.

I do not get why the Low Rider ST does not have the same round speedometer the cheaper S has. Instead, it has that tiny cheap LED speedometer that looks like the screen of a 80s digital watch.

Ridiculous. They should’ve made limited edition FXR’s, not a Softail with the FXR name. The price tag is ridiculous. Remember when HD was a brand that catered to working class American People?

Put in the 150 hp motor from the Pan America, fix the god-awful rear suspension, and come out with something that's actually DIFFERENT.
Custom paint job - $5000
Rockford Fosgate Audio - $1000
Limited run serialized bike - Value increases as time passes

If Harley returned to building FXR's & Dyna's I could get interested in them again. Too many gimmicks &electronics. I rode to get away from the noise & air my brain out!
A brand new M109R is more than 10,000$ less.... If it was the same price that would make sense to me.

They should have added the 131 kit to this bike and painted it in red . Then you could of called it by its name.
Something besides looks. But remember who we’re talking about. The customer could always pay the $28k sticker, $34,500 with markup and OTD cost. Then turn around and put another $5-6k to make it as powerful as an Indian. 😢 But it’ll hold it’s value! It’ll be worth $27k for a couple years.

I had a 1987 Low Rider Sport FXRS-SP silver and blue paint job. What a beautiful bike. Trying to find one but I haven't had good luck. I just don't like the fat windscreens/saddlebags/stereo systems on motorcycles. Might as well get a 70's Cadillac convertible.

And your 100 % rights stereo system doesn t belong on a motorcycle or a Harley you should be listening to that motor not a stereo and the newer Harley’s you can t even hear them till the are right on your side I ride a 98 eg I stripped down add ape hangers Got a evo and you can hear my bike coming from 3 blocks away that’s a Harley I don t like. Much bikes made after2010 no fuel injection s on a Harley should be a carb
@paul sroczynski I totally agree. The eco engines were bulletproof & easy to hot rod. If Harley wanted to move into the “future” why not use the bridge engine? They spent all that money to develop it. Look at Triumph & their line of bikes. I don’t get it!!!

@paul sroczynski Yeah your right they should have kept carbs on bikes instead adding fuel injector one of guys a ride with took his older bike with a carb on it to a Harley dealer to get some work done to his bike they turned him way cause the younger guys don t know how to tune a carburetor and I also saw couple videos on TH-cam guys saying the same thing messed up
The way i see it, the H-D El Diablo is a factory made frankenbike, and it looks great. If you think about it, the El Diablo is an H-D Lowrider with Sport Glide bags and an FXRT style fairing. If this combination doesn't scream frankenbike, i don't know what does.
It's a Low Rider ST with a sound system and fancy paint job added. Knowing how easy it is on a bagger to get your bags scratched by some other yahoo parked side by side next to you at a get together, I'd just get a LRST in Black, forget about the radio run by your smart phone, and get a Cardo PackTalk Edge instead for my helmet and listening to some music. I think I'm gonna die with my 2018 Sport Glide in Twisted Cherry Red. It has the bags, it has the forward pegs, I can add the 56mm rear mono shock for the same travel in the rear. I can live with the M8 107 CI and the single disc up front, it's a Cruiser or light touring bike for 1 up riding. Near enough for me to an El Diablo, especially when you have longer legs or you're tall.
That's an ugly bike guys especially for 30+ lol no freakin way. This is just one if the reasons we quit riding Harley yrs ago.

Hey fast lane. That so called 83 fxrt you showed was actually a late 84 model. The early 84s were shovel an tge late 84s were evo engines. Harley brought the evo out in the 2nd half of 84. All 83 bikes an the 1st half of the 84 production were shovel motors. I had a late 84 fxrt an they were a damn good bike
Right from 82 to 94 I would take any one of the FXRs over those shitbox Dynas they stuck us with. Gotta love those rubber mount babies!!!
Owned an 89 FXRT. Great bike. I'd still be riding it if not for a lady pulling out in front of me on my way back from Sturgis Bike Week. "Sturgis 99...I wrecked mine!"
Pretty easy to find them sitting gathering dust in several MN dealerships. With fees, and surcharges and taxes, its over $32k for a softail. Nope. Personally, I’m not at all impressed with the paint. It’s way to busy looking, like they are trying too hard.

The El Diablo has a 117 ci Milwaukee 8 engine. The Pan America has the 1250cc Revolution engine. They are two different beasts.

The rims look 'off' to me. They should be black. Having seen this in person, the rims and pin-striping aren't the the same colour. The pin-striping is more gold, and the rims bronze. There isn't enough of this bike to make it command the high price tag.

Trying to bring back the disappointed dyna riders. My 2000 FXDX looks better but has become unreliable. Switched to KTM 1290 SA. More fun, way more performance and power yet I feel safer on this bike. I only miss the sound of the FXDX.

@@vincentbeijing6926 on specs alone it's a safe bet the 2019 Superadventure runs rings around the "El Diablo" as well. It looks cool and I'm sure the stereo system appeals to a certain breed of biker. To some of us it's about what the bike can do that other bikes and cars can't do that makes it more fun to ride. Reliability? Time will tell.

@@chrisvarva9847 i ride a Harley 1200 roadster and other more modern bikes, love them for different reasons, although the Harley’s handling is much better than the brand’s reputation. I don’t see why comparing them. The Harley is slower than my Japanese and Italian bikes, but the engine is endearing and the bike demands more effort through the twisties, which is as well on public roads, the fun starts at lower speeds.
I don’t doubt your ktm is excellent. I rented the previous 1290 GT and was impressed, a different animal, very powerful engine and controlled chassis, without filtering the feel of speed as much as a GS for example. By comparison to the Harley, the engine still wakes up later and at very illegal speeds. Lovely, very different, still can’t find a point of comparing them.
About stereo on a bike, I never understood the point, especially with headsets in the helmet.

Beautiful bike. Love it. 700 for USA. Rest for worldwide audience. Sucks that USA dealers seem to crank the prices. My friend says one sold for $45k. They are selling in uk for retail and have sold out already.
20 down under ( Australia ) which are all pre orders. 13 for New Zealand.
If u ask me that replica 69 electra glide was a better deal now l see those popping up for resale at rediculous prices. But it just depends on what u want. I would never pay those prices.

I still prefer my '98 FXDL with that exact same factory paint scheme. It's no FXR unfortunately, but it's still an Evo Dyna.
The El Diablo LOOKS good, but IMO it's not truly worthy of an *ICON* series.
They knocked the Electra Glide Revival out of the park last year, but this was a let down and felt like a huge money grab..
While I love the ST and the El Diablo paint I’ve already told my dealer I’m not paying a penny over MSRP. Lol. Told him I’d be back this winter to see if he was more willing to discuss the price. Yes I’d love more HP but there needs to be a bump between 117 & 131.

Wrong time for this bike especially since the low rider st was just released a few months ago. IMO they should have done an ICON Sportster since the Evo sporty is gone after this year or a fatboy
