Just to clarify: No - the primary did not need to be taken apart in this case to re-install the mid shifter arm - it comes in two pieces and can be inserted through the primary and then reconnected behind it with a long allen driver. We did it this way in this case to make the install walkthrough a little more universal - the assumption was that many people installing mids would be doing it on a bike that came with forwards - and in that case it does all need to be taken apart. Also, on other bikes - like Dynas - you would always need to pull the primary to install the shifter arm because it is one solid piece. Sorry to those who were offended... just trying to show the worst/hardest case scenario rather than the easiest!
Yeh some people just don’t get that these types of videos are tutorials for multiple models not just the one your working on!! Love from Australia mate keep the vids coming👌🤙
I’m 82 years old and have st with forward controls , I’ve ridden a lot of bikes ( with mid control ) sport bike , dirt bike , low riders etc . Also I have put a S&S 132 , trash air cleaner , thrashin pipe , manifold etc. also forward controls will not work with bung king bar , I tried it . I also have a Road glide with a 128 .
I'll tell you now, that HD mustache guard saved my Low Rider ST when I went down, preventing any further damage. Only damage to the coach bar was scratches at the point of contact with the road. Maybe I'm the exception?
Every hd bolt i take out i try to replace with 12 pt stainless arp’s, the stainless actually aren’t too expensive like plated ones are & look better and are stronger than oe bolts 😂😅
agree on the mid controls.. just curious as to why the stock headers with slip ons are sub par? I have one with a so called "proper" exhaust (thunderheader 2 into 1) and one set up just like this one- the slip ons actually provide better torque.. have you dyno the two setups to know one is superior to the other?
I have always had bikes with floorboards or forwards, but I absolutely love the mids on my ‘21 FXLRS. I also have the BK crash bar if I need to stretch out on a long ride.
This is the reason I hate buying used modified bikes. I always ask if they have the original parts still. If not I usually pass if it’ll cost more than it’s worth to change it.

I was actually glad you did it this way. I will be needing this info to fix a shift shaft leak. Thanks !

Still Great to see the process & any hang ups - it helps others out that may need to drop the whole primary out.

🎉Awesome. I’m 59 and can only hope I can still ride as long as you have. Salute!

Shorter klockwerks looks good, and they work, I have had both on 2022 FXLRST clear view and klockwerks. I am running 8” klockwerks
Excellent, very informative video. Highest quality

I’m in central Indiana and when I get more fun money, I will definitely be giving you a call to take my fun money! 😂

Appreciate the attention to detail love your work brother🍻🔥
you dont need to remove the primary to take the mid shifter rod and lever off. I dont see why you would to put it in.
I remember when you made a fxrt fairing build. You really nailed that one! This one looks good too, though I thought the one you made was cooler.
Very good content well explained real smooth and organized.
Should have suggested some 1275 clutch springs.
Most of the videos I see people complain about the mid controls on that bike pushing thier knees into thier chests

⚡️Amazing Video⚡️
Ahhh working on Harleys is always an exercise in WTF!!!😤🤣🤣🤣
thanks for posting agaIn. keep it up. but who the hell puts forwards on a lowrider st? just buy a rg boomer.
Exactly I don’t understand, run some mini floor boards and a crash bar..
if you are over 6" 2
its not comfy to ride it with mid controls
Who the hell puts forwards on an ST? Tall people - duh. If you a short little guy, and your knees aren’t above your hips with mids, you’ll be fine.
