Happy New Year, everyone!!
We got an FTX Outlaw, each and we are very excited! OK, they were released over a year before this video was made, but still...
I've used my FTX Outlaw before... once... on road. It was good fun, but off-road is where this thing belongs! In this video, I take it out on the (frozen) mud and jumps, to see how it fares.
We did find (Matthew and I), that the brushed motor went into thermal shutdown, when running it on the road. This meant the RC would stop dead... in-between driving slowly! Yep, the brushed Outlaw is SLOOOOOW!!
Would it happen again? Would everything be fine? Watch and find out!

man alive , mine arrived and out of the box it made a weird noise , so i stripped off the front diff and low and behold there was a berring missing , as a result it had stripped the cogs , from brand new mind .
Contact the shop and either get a replacement truck, or get them to replace your diff gears and the bearing for free. That's totally unacceptable! It has to be said, FTX quality control isn't the best. Good luck.
I’ve had an FTX Edge brushless buggy for several years and it’s been great. Pretty fast and no issues with the electronics, touch wood! Those Outlaws look pretty cool. Cheers.
That's good to know! I think the problem with this one is that it's using the same electronics as a few of the much lighter FTX models. Once sorted, I reckon it'll be a blast.
The servo sound is when the trim is not set correctly. It is like it is ‘fighting’ the ground. Hold it in the air and re trim using the transmitter. Hope it works

Just some tips: If the battery comes out of its compartment STOP THE TRUCK! If not it will start to spark or worse. If you drive it through thick snow prepare for it to short circuit and be ready to run as sometimes if the battery is low it will not steer. Also, EVERYTHING is replaceable, even the chassis! Also. Don't drive through water higher than the bottom of the chassis only do this is everything is sealed and protected from water damage. Have fun ya'll.

I’ve got the brushless one and it’s great, just the few odd parts which need upgrading to aluminium as they have a habit to break. I put a much heavier weight shock oil in too. Great video and keep on bashing man :)

I own a outlaw too there great the only thing what keeps breaking is rhe drive shafted but iv upgrade that to a metal one but I'm in the process of upgrading my plastic to aluminium

Of course, full size desert racers often have solid rear axles, trophy trucks definitely do.
Would you recommend this or the comet truggy for a starter model
Hmmm... tough one. I wouldn't honestly fully recommend either, because they are both let down by the electronics. However, between the two, I'd probably go Outlaw. Personally, for a first time RC, I'd have a look at the current Maverick Strada XT, XB, or MT. They're really nice, for the money. However, there are stock issues, at the moment. What with HPI being bought-over.

yeh the electrics on this truck are crap but as soon you put a brusheless system this thing becomes a beast.

How did you get it all to work.
It should be working out of the box. If it isn't, you need to return it as faulty. Mine came back to life, but I quickly got rid of it, as the standard electronics are cheap and nasty.

Yeah, it is good for the money. Very hit-and-miss electrics... some work, some don't. Go brushless and all is well!
For the price it's a pretty good rc car (I got the brushed version for Chrimbo lookin to transition to brushless for that bit more oomph and increased response) gonna add a little weight to the front end which should keep the nose down in the corners. Never had any overheating or electronics problems even though I run it for pretty much an hour solid only stopping long enough to change batteries. It's not a patch on my Zombie but then you're talking nearly £200 - £250 difference a completely different animal altogether. I'll get some videos uploaded soon
Me and my brother had the same issues when driving on the street it would wobble and just turn randomly

8 years ago my first Rc was a FTX outrage , nitro and it was horrible. I had about 15 drives with it about 50% ended in run aways ... and it broke with the smallest hit😂😂😂

No, it should be calibrated from the factory. If it isn't, you can try calibration, but you should get a replacement from the shop.

I thought yo said that the brush less one had better electronics. Then you said buy the brushed one because they are the same.

The brushless one has better electronics. The reason I said to buy the brushed one is that both cars are exactly the same _except_ for the electronics. So the brushless one doesn't have any stronger gearbox, driveshafts etc. The price difference is £100, whereas you can buy a brushless system and fit it to the brushed model for about £60. Hence why I said buy brushed.

The electronics are naff, the supplied battery is naff, the supplied charger is naff. Does anyone have a business brain at FTX? Give us the option to buy without battery, charger, motor and ESC for a discount. It would sell amazingly. Why should we pay for naff stuff that is only good for the bin?
I guess it's to bring in new hobbyists? I do agree, though; 3 versions: brushless, brushed and without electronics!
