Yours is the deepest renovation I’ve seen in You Tube so far. It’s very impressive.
I would really like to know how you guys acquired the skills and knowledge to do all this, and what would be the fastest way you would recommend to learn all that (maybe an RV technician education?).
Thanks for sharing❤️
nice work subbed
New here. Wow, you two have taken a big project. Will try to keep up with your projects and watch as you go on your journey.
Many blessings.
Thank you!
I admire your courage too. How long did you lengthen the drive shaft? Also which truck did you get the donor trans from!
I really admire your courage, and thank you so much making the time to do this. I bought a 83 Sunrader a year ago, and it has been sitting there. So I am going to ask a lot of questions while watch you guys progressing with yours. Again, Thanks
Thank you! So happy we can help!
You should put an aluminum radiator in it...
To get more views you should put pics for before and after that would help because you are 😎 cool
We're working on a before and after video :)
Should of painted the padle assembly 🤔
Do you have a complete parts list for the 5 spd swap? And how much did the drive shaft cost? Would love to do this to mine! Thanks.
So just off the top of my head to swap in a w56 you will need,
Manual Trans including the trans mount that attaches to the crossmember (very important)
Clutch hard-line going from clutch Master cylinder to the soft line going to the slave cylinder. (I got both from a parts truck)
Clutch Master cylinder
Clutch slave cylinder
Clutch kit including pressure plate, clutch disk and throw out bearing
Clutch pedal assembly from manual version of your truck or similar years
Whatever shifter boot setup you want to go with, I barely had to trim the factory auto opening in the floor.
And lastly the custom driveshaft. The original is about 2inches too short and you can't just extend the original, you need a whole new tube cut and new carrier bearing and slip yoke installed. There was only one shop around that made driveshafts and it ended up costing us about $650 bucks. So if you do go through with the swap, I encourage you to shop around and tell the shop exactly what it's for.
Hope that helps a bit! Feel free to ask any more questions. There are little things you might come across that I could guide you through. Good luck!
Major Impressed by the whole project in general! Props to you both.
What mpg have you been getting since the swap?
I have a 80s chev step van that had a 6.2 rear end and now swapping in a 14 bolt 3.73 rear axle. Maybe I'll hit 12mpg instead of 5mpg!!
Actually bought the van in Minot,ND haha.
Gonna browse the cabinet video too for my build.
Good luck to you both.
Hey thanks! We average about 15mpg sometimes 12 other times 18 or so. Just depends on the driving conditions. Congrats on your purchase! Regearing will definitely help you out.
@@WilsonsAdrift that's not bad at all..
Definitely seemed like it was well worth the effort. Happy Adventuring
