Raising the Bar: Bowhunting Giant Alaskan Brown Bear

  • Bowhunting Giant Alaskan Brown Bear.
Pursuing the world’s largest land predator with a bow is quite possibly the pinnacle of big game hunting in North America. Few get the opportunity and even fewer are successful. Giant Brown bears taken cleanly with an arrow are rare. One trip to the unforgiving Alaskan Peninsula is usually enough to satisfy the thirst for adventure, bad weather, and isolation. Very few hunters ever return for a second go around.
Go along with Brendan Burns and Lance Kronberger to the Alaskan Peninsula as they battle the elements and a ticking clock in pursuit a singular goal.

If these guys were really so tough they would not have any firearms as backup. Make the hunt a fair one. Leave the guns behind. True test of what? ..that you were afraid to hunt a bear just with a bow? Pathetic. Anybody can try to kill a bear with whatever weapon such as spear, or a bowie knife but if they bring a high power rifle with them for protection then its just stupid posturing. A real skilled hunter should possess a real hunting skill and have such confidence in his/her skill that no additional weapon (firearm) would be needed. This video showed it wasn’t the case.

In a time of this planet where massive land mammals are basically becoming wiped out, why are you feeling the need to kill them? what you are doing is basically ensuring that these beautiful creatures become extinct. Have you not learnt from what our ancestors have done and the species they've caused to go extinct? You could have quite easily followed this beast with cameras and enjoyed watching them live and how they live in their ecosystem. Alaska is virtually the last place on this overpopulated planet that they can exist. Be a man lay down your weapons and enjoy watching these creatures in their habitat. One day they will be gone forever so you can either stop now and actively protect them or be the cause of why they disappear for no future generations to see.

Can I ask a few questions? I don't want to draw hate. I am not a vegan and I acknowledge the wild is a savage place. The life cycle is real and we (and other animals) eat meat. I am under no illusions surrounding where we get our food from. So I am not one of those guys.
But does this hunt serve a purpose beyond fun? Are the bears a nuisance or pose a problem that they need to be culled every now and again?
I would also like to ask about the specs on the bow. Brand, poundage, and arrow weight and speed with that arrow weight if possible ( I can calculate energy and momentum from that)
That is a big bear, and I know the shot has to be clean, but I just wanted to get a gauge on what kind of weapon you would need to take down a creature that big assuming you make a clean strike of course.

    • @alecplate4000

in some areas there is too many predators so taking a few will increase the population of other animals like deer or moose. But also in general in most places there is enough bears that yes you can just hunt them for enjoyment and a pretty massive carpet or whatever you want to do with the fur.

    • @TavernSideGuides
      @TavernSideGuides 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

The Alaska Fish and Game set limits for all big game based on what they think will keep the predator/pray life in balance alongside the right for the native tribes and residents of Alaska that use these animals as a main source of food. Brown and black bears in particular like moose and caribou... a lot. I think it is between 40-60% of all caribou/moose calves die due to bears and wolves, so it is important to keep the predator population in check so that hunting does not tip the balance in either way.
That's the entire point of these hunts being available to those that don't live inside the state of Alaska.

Been looking into Kuiu camo for hunting. Also looked at Sitka for years although i think both are way over priced as many companies are in the field.
Not sure about Kuiu yet but it does seem Sitka has a good fit and more warmth with less weight than regular hunting clothes. Also like the camo patterns on Sitka and Kuiu.
Not going to lie i been just as successful with Walmart realtree/Mossy Oak camo clothes than with high end camo companies. These companies are turning hunting into a rich man game. These hunting Clothes are worth half of what they charge. $800 for a jacket lol…..gtfo. That jacket better come with a personal dragger for the animal i take for that price.

Would be truly brave if they weren’t backed up by a guy with an elephant gun. Indigenous hunters were considered almost like a God if they took down a grizzly.

Once again always the last day on the last hours of the hunt to get a shot on target animal. Is there any hunting shows that doesn’t say it’s the last day when it finally happens .

That's a low percentage shot, but hey you can't make a shot you don't take.
