It’s retarded. An actual whammy bar would be easier to use. Not to mention you could use a whammy pedal and not have to cut it up and stick it in the side of your guitar body.
RAZOR RAMOAN you don’t know much about guitar do you. Wammy bars can’t handle such low tubings like the ones he’s in plus they are a pain to tune. Not to mention that when you break a string it throws out the whole guitars tuning. They’re a pain to use. That peddle is 10x easier
"Now I know there is whammy pedals and this pedal is self also works with feet, but I wanted to make it kind of inconvenient and difficult for my self." Lol what's life without challenge
I think everything you do on the guitar is pretty cool, luv the ffdp style.....before I rip my dirt bike at the track always ffdp before throttle time......
Not a fan of FFDP but this guitar is sick, having a pedal built in is his personal preference and I love the idea, reminds me of Devo, they duct-taped pedals onto their guitars which ended up being bulky and could easily drop to the floor and break. What Jason Hook has done is very innovative, I want to find a way to do that to my Flying V
What boss pedal is he using here? Name? I can’t find one and I’ve had the pitchfork but I’d prefer not to have to use the damn expression pedal with it
Jacob Vance yeah I thought the same thing but then as I looked at it on the video...the peddal had no writing on it so he painted it gray instead of blue...
Why cut a big hole in your guitar for a tremolo that'll neatly cover said hole when you could instead hack one out of the edge of the body to put a pedal that poorly emulates having a tremolo? I mean, other than common sense, obviously...
Why cut that space for the pedal when you can put the circuit inside and have a neat control mechanism on the body? I love Explorers and this bloke seems OK but I'm looking at this and shaking my head
Just had a thought.... If you can do a pedal like that that... You should be able to do your wireless unit like that.... Just hollow out the back so it doesn't show in the front and wore it into your guitar 😐
Kevin G Ikr, I was thinking the same. Much easier mod too. But then there are sounds you can get out of a WH-1 that are really hard to reproduce with and actual bar. XP Personally, I love both.
+Shotgun Zombie Well, this does have it's advantages. You always have it regardless of your rig at the moment, you can use the effect at any time (away from your pedals, in the crowd, lying down on the floor, etc), you can change the effect easily since it's right there and you don't have to crouch down to your pedal. I think it's a great idea. And if it fits his playing style/needs, then more power to him.
Some valid points, Still seems like a lot of work to me for a little payoff though. Personally, I like that with the pedal, I can actually still play while using it. I suppose a rig with both would be pretty awesome. I also think that the WH-1 is much more versatile, but that's just me.
Shotgun Zombie it might’ve been because he likes and to me it looks BITCHIN I love the look this is that one guitar I would want but I see what your saying and how it would look better
The idea of the pedal is good but I wish he would have just took the electronics out of the pedal and made a killswitch type whammy bar because he still has to go and push it just like a regular whammy bar so it's kida redundant other then the fact it will stay in tune and keep tone but to each his own:)\m/
I've wanted one ever since they came out (I'm 11) No one is selling one from what I can find but I just found one but it is $1,400 and then shipping and tax it's $1,500. 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I understand why he used the conduit originally, but when making you're own signature model it just looks cheap theres a million ideas better than even just drilling internally so there not visible. Personally I've tamed the the whammy bar beast it love them but I will admit tuning to a different key is a pain, his idea is pretty smart if done better, for example he is a semi famous guitarist if he went to boss theres no doubt they could put a unit in his guitar and just use a switch or something plus not effect his tone no where near as much as he has to be know. Or he could just be like everyone else and put it on the floor lol if he's worried about bending over and hurting his back to use the controls he surely could afford some oknobs.
Whatever works I suppose. You couldn't find any other way of getting that effect other than putting a full freakin size boss pedal on the body lol. To each their own I guess.
+baalguitar bass tons of reasons why this works better than a floyd, tons of reasons why it doesnt he only wants it for fun he doesnt use it very often, usually plays without it anyway he probably just did it for fun and then went ahead and used it in a song or two on the new album
+TheEpicLinkFreeman yeah but what if he's Palm muting (he does it all the time) and it bends the strings because his hand is making the fr go down? And plus he doesn't have the fine tuners in the way which makes life easier. His way is totally better and has an even less rate of being detuned because it won't happen.
Jason's cool and so is the Explorer, but that pedal would drive my right elbow insane and unbalance the guitar. I think putting in a tremolo or just using the pedal on the floor is more practical. I'm afraid he may have done this just to "be different"? I do think Gibson should use the same access cut at the base of the neck and the beveled cuts in the upper portion of the body are awesome ideas (even though the beveled cut was first used in the 1979-1980 Explorer E2s). As for the black exposed wire conduit, it doesn't look so good. I would have just put the pickup selector under the volume/tone knobs in order to not have a pick guard. One major plus is that I haven't seen these guitars "yellow" as most white Gibsons do due to the Nitro finish (see every Lzzy Hale Explorer headstock after 1 year... ugly yellow while the body is still white!). Overall, its Jason's signature model and his choice. Everyone has their own opinion. I have two of these guitars and they kick ass.
I'm going to put my entire peddle board on the body of my guitar. Only 11 peddles.
Going to put an axe-fx in mine
+espltdguitarlover LOL, good one.
I'm gonna put a drumset on my flying v
Oh my shit!! Ha! That's fuckin funny man!
+austin cutty I'm gonna put an entire orchestra on my guitar
that "integrated" pitch shifting pedal for whamy effect is genius.
diazzsama the fact that you could switch it for pretty much any other boss pedal the same size is pretty cool too
It’s retarded.
@@morejake0391 That's not true at all lol. FFS, they even make tremolos for BASS guitars.
Bob you are a little slow. He is correct, he is actually referring to the tension of the string when he says low tuning you dork.
Thinking outside the box that is what makes you unique!!
That 45 degree angle's just dope!!!
Electric guitars are made to be customized. Rock on brother!
Don't think I've heard much of their stuff, but he seems like a nice enough dude. The guitar seems right up my alley as well!
+scubadog2000 Same here. That extra carve below the neck is a definite plus too.
check out wash it all away
"Now I know there is whammy pedals and this pedal is self also works with feet, but I wanted to make it kind of inconvenient and difficult for my self." Lol what's life without challenge
Lol Zakk will probably rip him in half after finding that out
Therse aren't circles,it is a sign police and army use to show they rank
Keepitgrunge lol I think he was talking about the fret wire.....
Good thing Zakk is no longer with Gibson
Thank you for showing this. These innovative ideas are really creative. Love it
Does he know the pedal will work on the floor too?
NorthWest NW it looks so cool on the guitar
he may not
It’s better when on stage and moving around , he won’t have to move all the way to the front of the stage just for the pedal .
Edit: does he know he could've jusy as easilu put in an actual trem?
I will forever love this man. He is such a goofball.
I think everything you do on the guitar is pretty cool, luv the ffdp style.....before I rip my dirt bike at the track always ffdp before throttle time......
Gibson n Hook . Amazing to see you play .Guitar Art !!!!.
This guitar looks and sounds awesome!
I like it.....apart from a boss pedal in the body. But the contours are a great idea.
*WONDERFUL GUITAR AND DEMO!*
Not a fan of FFDP but this guitar is sick, having a pedal built in is his personal preference and I love the idea, reminds me of Devo, they duct-taped pedals onto their guitars which ended up being bulky and could easily drop to the floor and break. Super smart idea with the pedal
That pedal is inSANELY creative. Good fucking work, dude..
please upload some tutorials about playing remember everything and ...
we need that from you please do that
having a pitch shifter in place, instead of whammy bar is genius !!
I’m not going to lie, that thing with the pitch shift pedal wired into the guitar is probably the smartest idea I’ve seen in my life. 0.o
"Ill grab that note and the whole band looks at me with... Anger"
Great guitar and seems like a top bloke. Will be checking out their stuff.
What's the name of the Pedal. I can't find it and I've been searching for it
I like the pedal in the body, sure it's unorthodox but it's very practical in a way, no hassle, just put a full size pedal in.
What strings are you using on this guitar??
My new fav guitarist.
What strings jason use please?
The pedal thing is pretty creative and neat. I wouldn't do it though
What boss pedal is he using here? Name? I can’t find one and I’ve had the pitchfork but I’d prefer not to have to use the damn expression pedal with it
that subtle "ah fuck"
How did he wire the pedal into the guitar? Anyone know?
The pedal thing is cool and so but how is it powered? There needs to be an extra 9V bat somewhere
+Oliver E Punkt surely its just in the pedal, like most boss pedals
I love playing guitar
Who can tell me the name of that boss pedal he's using, like which model cuz at first I thou it was a PS-5 but it doesn't look like one?
Jacob Vance yeah I thought the same thing but then as I looked at it on the video...the peddal had no writing on it so he painted it gray instead of blue...
You could probably ask Gibson to put a Floyd in
Why cut a big hole in your guitar for a tremolo that'll neatly cover said hole when you could instead hack one out of the edge of the body to put a pedal that poorly emulates having a tremolo?
I mean, other than common sense, obviously...
Why cut that space for the pedal when you can put the circuit inside and have a neat control mechanism on the body? I love Explorers and this bloke seems OK but I'm looking at this and shaking my head
Fuck Yeah Jason, you're a Legend.
My guitar goes up to 11, most people's just go up to 10, mine goes to 11
I would have just had the custom shop set me up with a floyd bridge on the explorer body would have been much easier.
boss pedal put into the body......fucking genius
wich pickups are these?? and what pedal is that?
They're Duncan jb and 59, and it's a boss pitch shifter
Creative I can say that😐
А педаль на скотче держится, или это дополнительный экран?
Pretty cool rig with the pedal...only think i would have done different is put the boss chromatic tuner right there instead
good work
They don't make whammy techs anymore or something?
Nice customizations.
Hey can you buy this guitar
Very unique
That one part reminds me of The Osmonds - Crazy horses ;)
Just had a thought.... If you can do a pedal like that that... You should be able to do your wireless unit like that.... Just hollow out the back so it doesn't show in the front and wore it into your guitar 😐
Copy right
My idea
what pickups?
Duncan jbs I believe :)
that's actually pretty cool. yeah.
you can cut a big chunk out of your guitar and mount a Pedal in it with tape...or just use a whammy pedal..
that's so cool
i'd buy this guitar to step on it on stage
Thomas Mims in front of all 10 people at your show?
@@phil8249 OHHHHHHH BURRRRRNNNN
@@marnie9452 Oh, hype mannnnnnn!
I love the “wiggles”
amazing mods 2 this guitar 👍👌
Jason your band is good in specialty you🤘🤘🤟🤘🤟🤘🤝🤟🤘🤝
The Greatest guitarist ever HOOK
Actually a cool idea...wouldn't have the heart to cut a chunk out of my explorer though. Clearly inspired by EVH's old destroyer.
I give him props for trying something original.
Have you thought of stepping on the pedal like everyone else does?? Just an idea!
Why go to the pedal in a live show when you can just take it with you.
Being like everyone else sucks.
Cut a hole and put the pedal into the guitar? Hello Nigel Tufnel!...Glass half empty or half full?..I think he would say "wrong size glass".
Lol that's bad ass! I highly doubt anyone would have thought of installing a pedal directly into the guitar.
Dave Grohl, James Iha, Mark Mothersbaugh and Les Paul himself have done it.
cool dude
why the sergeant major chevrons?
Barnaby Wylde I know this is late but that’s gunny chevrons
That is creative as fuck!
interesting mods, but why not just use a whammy pedal :/
Or just a floyd

Hey Jason can you send me one of those guitars with your name on it and thanks
This is y i love pantara
We might be related my grandma's last name is Hook!!
Gibson can't give this guitar away lol. I think it's ridiculous, just my opinion.
The idea of the pedal is good but I wish he would have just took the electronics out of the pedal and made a killswitch type whammy bar because he still has to go and push it just like a regular whammy bar so it's kida redundant other then the fact it will stay in tune and keep tone but to each his own:)\m/

Ewolf5150 I got the epiphone. Have loved it for almost 2 years of use now
Huh, that's actually pretty cool.
I like how put that pedal in the guitar like it is muxh easier than to put a floyd in it XD
Badass
Looks like a cross between the evh explorer from VHIII, the matthias jabs explorer and Sargent slaughter lmao
I've been planning a guitar build and now I wanna put some fricking pedals on there!!!!
Very Fuckin cool 🤘😎

I happen to own a Gibson Explorer WITH whammy bar...no top lock tho, so it gets out of tune real quick when you use it.
I would love to have one, but I don't have that money :(
Could have got the FRX - just swap out the bridge
Whatever works I suppose. You couldn't find any other way of getting that effect other than putting a full freakin size boss pedal on the body lol. To each their own I guess.
👊🔝
you can use a floyd rose
maintenance is a hassle with a floyd
+baalguitar bass tons of reasons why this works better than a floyd, tons of reasons why it doesnt

Swaggy illuminati ?
i wasn't saying a floyd is better or worse, I'm just saying this is another option that suits his playing style and needs
heresy to do this to an explorer
that must be very heavy.

It's so weird to see a Schecter guitar in human form playing a Gibson.
