Defiant, due to the slightly higher complexity and paint; black ain’t best just black. However! That North Atlantic Wildcat makes me dribble. Ooft! 🤤😇 Good to hear from you Jenn, it’s always a pleasure. Don’t worry about your channel, as you said things will pick up. Incidentally, and I’m sure time is an issue for you, but have you considered a livestream one evening? Just a thought. All the best Jenn. Simon 🤘🏻
The Airfix 51 kit is one of the best kits I've built. With that being said, I vote for the Defiant as Jen will be able to show the weathering process better. I vote for no PE.
Defiant! Weathering the night fighter camo would be most interesting and add lots of goodies. Mustangs meh, dime a bushel. All the best as always! Gord
Looking at the three kits, the all-black Defiant is the most challenging to paint, weather and draw interest to, so that gets my vote. The Mustang, however, will see a plethora of painting and weathering skills displayed thanks to its yellow, D-Day striping, natural metal and olive drab scheme, which could be a bigger benefit to more of your subscribers. That would be my second choice.
I want to say Defiant, the black can be a challenge to get looking good, but I think the P-51 would be better option to show different painting techniques with the silver and bare metal surfaces. The additional of some simple PE would be good.
The Defiant seems like an excellent choice to me. With a complete night black finish it can be quite difficult to make it both suitably subdued but also show sufficient detail to be pleasing. Oh, perhaps it would be picky of me to note that the Defiant is a twin-seater. 😉
I lurve the Defiant. So that woulf be my choice. The all black livery does not particularly appeal to me, but will give you a great opportunity to give instructions how to liven up such a challenging dark monochrome finish. I assume you misspoke when you called it a 'single seat fighter'? As for aftermarket: The level you mention is pretty much what I consider necessary for an ambitious build. Seat belts and wheels certainly.
Must do Mustang, me says - with the zoom set or whatever extras you're contemplating - keen to see how the Airfix P-51 shapes up, as well as seeing a master at work. David.
My vote is for Defiant and the Mustang.I would say that if there were the matchbox kits and the old Airfix kits. They were great for the beginners but only the Airifx kits are existing now in the Vintage Classics kits.Great models for the 1/48 kits beginners were the ESCI'S kits nad the Otaki/Arii kits.
I would love to see the Defiant at some point (especially with weathered Night), but feel the P-51 could show a broader range of finishes and techniques, so I'll vote for the Mustang.
While I would love to see the Wildcat, it doesn't look like that's in the works. So, Defiant is coolest (gun turrets rulez), but black doesn't feel to me to be a good demonstrator for weathering, The P51 does have a whole world of fun painting to it. Add a little aftermarket, no matter what you pick. That little Mosquito sure looks all cute and perfect, that was a very nice project, thanks again.
Not much help, but any of the three would be good to see you build. Adding the suggested aftermarket options would also work for me. Maybe also add a canopy masking set?
Mustank Smustank. Defiant all the way personally. However I concede that plain black does not really move on much from plain blue. Something with 2 tone camo would be more useful.
I look forward to all your videos no matter what you do your a gifted modeler as well as very very good with the camera bottom line your videos are always fun and enjoyable and that's the point of this hobby 😀 😊
Hi Jen I think you are right in saying the Airfix Mustang is a little overseen. It is a very nice kit, having build one, and several waiting to be build. My biggest challenge was to make the insert for the guns in the wing look perfect mating with the wing, It has a different feel than the Eduard Mustang. Eduard is no doubt perfect, precise and builds into a very sharp Mustang, but it lacks the sharm of the Airfix Mustang kit. Maybe the Airfix Mustang challenges you a little, but with care + skills and perfect decals you get a great build, and a wonderful Mustang. Thanks for the Mosquito build, it was perfect, very helpful and inspiring.👍
I'd say the Defiant gets my vote, I'd love to see how you can make an all black scheme look interesting. Plus I've never actually seen a build of the Defiant anywhere so it's something a little different. I'm not too fussed about adding PE, for my skill level I don't think it adds enough to the finished kit to be worth the effort, I'd rather get a resin seat with moulded seatbelts and use that as the only upgrade for my builds. All three are good choices and, apart from the Wildcat, they're all in my stash so I'll join in whatever kit you go for.
I do like the idea of the Defiant. Every time I try a black finish it looks like a hole in space. It would be good to see how you do it. PE… if you want to but I can take it or leave it.
Loved the 1st series, I'm a beginner and I thought it was at the perfect level. Defiant for my vote this time around with some PE as I don't know much about that at all
Hi Jen any of the choices are fine with me but I think the mustang gives more opportunity for learning different painting techniques keep up the great work
I don’t mind which Jen. I watch for techniques and what to avoid / make mistakes with, not actual model build. I tend to agree therefore the mustang would show more variety. Looking forward to the MRP vs SMS paints as I am considering a trial of one or the other. TY
I vote the airfix mustang and a zoom set . Challenging but straight forward. I've got an eduard p-51d kit thats waiting for paint , when your at that stage, I'll get the alclad out . Im doing big beautiful doll as duxford is 20 miles from where i grew up. I hope your well . M
Tough competition!... I was for the poor Defiant. Poor both for the unfortunate category of 'fighter' and for the apparently unattractive scheme. A realistic black overpainted scheme is not easy to achieve, though... But with concurrents like those, she had no chance! So, between the flashy Mustang and and the silly Wildcat I would go for the Wildcat because I like the less well known Atlantic paint scheme and because a navy aircraft was my original suggestion. With all that said, the Mustang in this particular livery is also attractive, with plenty of opportunities to demonstrate modelling techniques... (My first Mustang had this scheme but without the yellow nose.) I am looking forward to this series! Edit, just to be clear: 1. Defiant, 2. Wildcat, 3. Mustang.
Hi Jen. Not sure why i haven't been catching up with your channel for a while but I've just tapped the all notification button so hopefully that will sort that out! As per the next build, reluctantly, I suppose the Mustang would be perfect for what you are going to be doing although not many people seem to do the Defiant. Personally, my preference would be, and you mentioned it on the models for sale site, the Hurricane tropical. The weathering aspect for the tropical schemes has always been a problem for me and hence why i still have about 5 in the stash! Whatever you do will be awesome so i will look forward to the series. Cheers Bobby
Must admit to being just a bit confused Jen when you said you were going to do a 1/48 single seat fighter - and then introduced the Defiant as the first choice - I think the poor Air Gunners in those things suffered enough without now being ignored....!! 🙂Anyway FWIW Daffy would be my choice as even after 60 years of model painting I still struggle with weathering black. Not bothered about P.E., these days unless there's no other choice provided in the kit I won't use the stuff.
Hmmm...good selection. I'm always a sucker for odd aircraft and shark mouths...but in consideration I do think the P-51 would probably provide a better basis for your videos. I would enjoy seeing the Boulton-Paul in the future though as weathering black is always a skill I need to improve. On the subject of PE, I would say...Yes...within reason. Something else to consider, although it might fall outside the scope of what you are hoping to achieve (and I don't know your opinion of the tech) is you might in addition to or an alternative to, use some of the new 3D printed/decals for cockpit detail. I love building cockpits...but admit...these 3d printed decals are awfully nice. Good luck!
The Mustang is my choice for the reasons you gave Jen. Some simple PE would be good. I'd also like to see a very simple bit of scratch build - if you lose or break a piece, what can you do to replace it (e.g. an antenna, a cockpit part etc.).
Instead of PE, why not use a 3D printed set like Quinta Studio set 48254 or Eduard Space set 3DL48101 (if you do the P-51D, obviously). These are easier to work with than PE and don’t require the use of superglue to attach (although the Eduard set has etched belts).
The Defiant please Gen for first choice as I`ve started it and it`s at the paint stage, cept mine would be No 264 Squad. Duxford NF.1 so no teeth !! bit like me !! Blenheim would be my second choice as I`ve also got that one too.........
Airfix are anything but cheap here in Canada. I don't know if it is the exchange rate or the distributor jacking up the prices, but Revell of Germany kits are clearly cheaper in the local hobby shops. Unfortunately, Airfix is producing subjects that will pry open my wallet!
BP Defiant. the others are well covered. And, you just got me into trouble for ordering a chipmunk and a blenheim from models for sale! Keep up the good work.
Definitely the 48th Airfix Mustang please!! 😊 Is that a new- or 'newer' version from Airfix? I like it because it is the early version of the bubble canopy P-51 minus the fillet in front of the vertical tail. Love the Mosquito! I think the tank is a cracking good model! Make more armour, I would like it very much because I am quite the "armour geek" 🙂
Don't overthink the channel please. It's your passion for modelling. not content creating is why I'm here...
Oh I'm not, though I certainly appreciate the sentiment. I will carry on doing what I do for as long as I enjoy doing it
The Mustang, the kit is value for money for the beginner. And will offer a simple build and options to detail it even further.
Defiant, due to the slightly higher complexity and paint; black ain’t best just black. However! That North Atlantic Wildcat makes me dribble. Ooft! 🤤😇
Good to hear from you Jenn, it’s always a pleasure. Don’t worry about your channel, as you said things will pick up. Incidentally, and I’m sure time is an issue for you, but have you considered a livestream one evening? Just a thought. All the best Jenn. Simon 🤘🏻
Defiant for me. A much underexposed kit that deserves your magic touch.
Gord
Defiant would be good. Mustangs are too common. Looking forward to whatever you choose.
I think the Defiant would be a better choice for progressing with modelling techniques.
Definitely the Defiant please Jen. The other 2 have been done to death lately. Besides the black finish is really an interesting painting challenge.
Defiant for me. Interested in how you would approach the night scheme. Keep up the good work and look forward to your next build 👍
My vote goes to the Defiant.
That would be my second choice.
defiant 100%
Defiant please Jen as it would be interesting to see how you weather black, I've tried a few times but just can't seem to get it right
Defiant
Jen, the heart says Defiant but the head says Mustang. All the best.
The Defiant; it's different. Go on, you know you want to.
My vote is the Mustang, the paint scheme looks quite challenging.
Mustang please, Jen. Really enjoy the nice and relaxed atmosphere and learning A LOT from you. These videos are really helpful. Thank you!!
That Mustang livery looks interesting...that one please
I want to say Defiant, the black can be a challenge to get looking good, but I think the P-51 would be better option to show different painting techniques with the silver and bare metal surfaces. The additional of some simple PE would be good.
My vote goes to Defiant.
P-51 with a bit of PE. Thanks for asking!
I visited the RAF museum at Cosford recently and saw the black Defiant there. Effective or not, it's fiercely impressive. I vote Defiant thanks.
The Defiant! Id love to see how you weather Intruder black.
Great work on the Mossie Jen!
Not being a 1/48 builder I'm not fussed on the next one, I will be happy to see any build you do!
The Defiant seems like an excellent choice to me. With a complete night black finish it can be quite difficult to make it both suitably subdued but also show sufficient detail to be pleasing.
Oh, perhaps it would be picky of me to note that the Defiant is a twin-seater. 😉
Defiant please - those NF had some heavy weathering!
Defiant for me. There will be some challenging aspects to weather black surfaces, menacing looking aircraft. Little bit of pe, cockpit etc
I'd love to see your method of building and rigging the ICM 1/32 Stearman!
My vote goes for the Defiant 😁👍🏻
P-51.. With Eduard space set and resin wheels.
My vote is for the defiant
Mustang + PE for me please Jen. Enjoying the content.
Yes, mispoke or misthought. I don't remember which, but I probably imagined I was saying single engined ...
While I like the idea of seeing how you would go about weathering the black Defiant, I'd really like to see you do the Airfix P-51D!
My vote goes to the mustang, but being fully honest, it’s because it’s in the stash! 😂
Always down for a Mustang.
Mustang please, thanks Simon.
Must do Mustang, me says - with the zoom set or whatever extras you're contemplating - keen to see how the Airfix P-51 shapes up, as well as seeing a master at work. David.
My vote is for the Paul Defiant please, it's unusual and cool looking.

Watching you on MMM so I'm going Defiant! ;-)

My choice is the Airfix P51D Mustang with light PE, also the paint scheme has challenges and will be good to see how it should be approached, thanks.
Hi Jen any of the choices are fine with me but I think the mustang gives more opportunity for learning different painting techniques keep up the great work
Please do the Defiant. This a rarely seen aircraft build. By all means use some PE.
I don’t mind which Jen. I watch for techniques and what to avoid / make mistakes with, not actual model build. I tend to agree therefore the mustang would show more variety. Looking forward to the MRP vs SMS paints as I am considering a trial of one or the other. TY

BP Defiant. the others are well covered.
And, you just got me into trouble for ordering a chipmunk and a blenheim from models for sale!
Keep up the good work.
Glad I could help! Sorry, also not sorry, they are great prices!

When are you going to show more of that buccaneer you are building?
As I said in the video, I'm visiting a couple of Buccaneers this coming weekend to fill some reference gaps I have.
Mustang will bring traffic
Mustang.
P-51D Please
What do you do with all your finished kits?
Some are in a display cabinet, most are packed in boxes, and some get sold off.
@@JenesisDesignsandModelcraft I don't feel so bad about the ones I boxed away. Hopeful my grandsons will have an interest someday.
Mustang
GG!!!
After the Mossie which I loved by the way, my vote would be for the P-51. Love the channel! Keep up the great work Jen. It’s very much appreciated!!
I was going to say defiant but after reading the comment by @finsburyphil I'll go with a p51 for the same reasons he gives
