Feels like this all needs an overhaul to be honest. Needs bringing more in line with something like the Lego vip program. £35 for a couple of 1/72 wwii fighters and a “discount” to bring prices in line with all other retailers doesn’t really scream good value. Collecting stamps and sending postal orders was going out of style in the 90s never mind thirty years later.
Yeh I'll join, was looking for a PRU Spitfire anyway. Is there a time limit on flying hour tokens? I've been buying cheap (yay Lidle) airfix kits for a few years but only just started making them... I've quite the stash.
As alraedy mentioned 10% off can bring the price of buying direct from Airfix? In line with what you can pay from some retailers, infact one of my local retailers normally rounds down what i spend making it much cheaper. Its as if Airfix puts 10% on its products to start with.
Seems good value and I like the flight hours. Probably won’t get though as I don’t really build 1/72 kits very often. I’ll save my flight hours for Models for Hero’s
Hi Mos, a well argued case. However for me, I would say the club badge and poster would be useless clutter, an attraction for kids but not surely grown ups. Ok the key ring might be useful for the shed key, not to lose it. Without the membership, carriage is free if your order is large enough (more than £40?). I always make sure it is. So for me it would be down to the included kit(s), the flying hours and the 10%. The down side to that is the kit(s) are not to my choice. So, as you say, its an individual choice. Now for a bit of positivity, I notice the pilot of the spit has separately positionable arms (so for instance he could be reaching up to the windscreen rail to be climbing out after a gruelling mision). Thats a step forward I'd like to see more of.
It's 30 pounds for free delivery. which sometimes works in your favour too.. I see a lot of modelling companies charge 3.95 whatever you buy so it could be cheaper to buy from airfix.. The pilot debate will rage on with each generation of scale modellers, same as stands in boxes lol.. I think they do need to change it more often, a new badge would be nice too Thank you @emmabird9745 for leaving a comment. Please subscribe if you haven't as yet.. It really helps the channel grow.
Used to be a club exclusive kit, but no longer. Last years after saying they wouldn’t ever put out to general release, is in this years kit releases. Then this years duo are in the general release. Thanks airfix for making your club members feel special for their support.
That never happened. They always use a tooling thats already out there, what they do is release the kit with a exclusive scheme that will never be in the range. for instance they wont release a first and last hawk kit with those schemes to the public because it was a club only release. not for general sale. The meteor was always planned but the scheme will not be sold to the general public, it was only for club members. I hope that answers your worries my friend
So just watched this and I think all in all its a no brainer to sign up, for the 10% discount alone knowing that I am going to be purchasing a lot more Airfix kits in the future, thanks for the video and the heads up.
Cheers MOS; a good update...I'm very glad that the member's magazines will still be physical. 😃 That digital idea only was I believe, just a silly rumour that got out of hand very quickly, and began to reported on as 'fact' by unsuspecting channels here! Having said that, I'm still waiting for at least the last one from 2023 (Me 410 cover)... 😞 The kit looks good; I got my red-box on Tuesday (yesterday!) and I look forward to the calendar arriving soon too... 😃
Contact airfix for your magazine.. i believe a few got lost in the post!! They will send it out again. The wording on the website didnt make that clear.. it was put under digital perks so assume people thought it was going to be digital. Like me lol
@@MOS6510Models: Cheers! 😃 I guess that rather opaque phrasing would be enough to start the incorrect rumours! I'll get in touch with them; I know Airfix have excellent customer service - had you contact them once before about a missing part on a 1/48 Meteor a few years back...got the replacement piece within a few days!! 😁
It’s worth it for the 10% off the range of products and the free shipping over £30 ….i live in Dartmouth Devon to get to my nearest model shop it costs £10 easy on diesel and ferry crossing …so it works for me
The free shipping over £30 is nothing to do with the Airfix Club - anyone gets that. And the 10% discount just about brings them into line with other retailers. For example the video shows the Wellington for £35.99 after discount which is exactly what Jadlam charge.
@@adrianrichards247 No need for the insults. Look you said that it (the membership fee) was worth it for the 10% off the range of the products AND the free shipping over £30. Since the free shipping is nothing to do with the Airfix Club you are basically saying that it is worth it for the 10% discount. I’d argue that whilst there is the occasional offer where the 10% discount is good, in the majority of cases the 10% off just brings their prices in line with retailers elsewhere.
Yes i lost a lot of likes and watchtime but i try to be very accurate. It clearly said on the website it will be digital only (i have the screenshots), then airfix informed me that was wrong and I removed the video and edited it with the correct information. I want to be trusted and if I get things wrong, i try to rectify it :)
Each year I am tempted by the Airfix Club and each year I decide to pass because, for me, it doesn’t seem very good value. Price, in the UK, as far as I can see, the only option is the full pack with the kit, you can no longer buy the membership on it’s own so the price is £35. Kit - because I have specific tastes, usually the kit is not something that I am interested in, 2024 is different as 1:72 British WWII aircraft is my niche so my interest is still peaked - but do I want to pay £35 for those kits. Badge, stickers, posters, key fob - not interested. Even if I were interested in the badge, they could have least made it different each year. Magazines and calendar - okay, I’d give the calendar away like I do with the one that I get in Airfix magazine. 10% discount - just brings it in line with retailers. In your example, the new Wellington comes out at £35.99 which is exactly the price that Jadlam charge. Flying hours - seem to have to collect a lot for very little. You then have to pay P&P. Seems to be a poor offer. I have spent quite a lot on Airfix kits, and quite shocked that I’m not even close to being able to get a series 1 or 2 kit that I could pick up for a tenner. Choice of free kit - after spending huge amounts on Airfix, paying postage and packing and then being told there is no guarantee that I can have the kit I want and have to provide them with three options is a turn off. I get that I can’t ask for a kit that is OOP but if a kit is currently in production I’d like to be able to say I want that one and if they can’t provide it at that moment then give me my flying hours back and refund my postage. No Flying Hours - not putting flying hours on the limited edition is about as petty and short-sighted as you can get. You need 16 flying hours for a kit that you buy for around a tenner. Minus the ridiculous P&P of £5.95 means that 16 flying hours is worth as little as £4.05 or 25p per flying hour - not including them is just so incredibly petty. I’ll keep saving my flying hours just in case but I suspect I’ll end up sending them to Help for Heroes.
I won't be joining the Airfix club this year as I'm flat broke and probably won't be getting any new kits. I've got plenty of kits in my stash that need building anyway lol. Love your videos, all the best.
Good video, Mos. Pity that I live outside the UK... it doesn't make financial sense for me to join the club for 10% reduction. It's much cheaper to get an Airfix kit from a bricks and mortar business or even Amazon.
Hi mate. I'm getting the hump with Airfix. I won a competition (Company of Hero's 3 Comp) back in July, after the congratulations email I sent my details in and was told I'd have to wait a while as it was a busy time and they'd let me know when it's dispatched. Never heard anything since n I've emailed Airfix and Calen who'd sent the email a couple of times but got no reply. You've got a big Airfix following mate have you heard of this before?? It's not a big prize it was only the Tiger starter but it's the only time I've ever won anything ever. Not even a sports day
It is good value unless you really don't want this year's collectors kits, and don't buy a lot of Airfix. I don't mind a digitised magazine, but a proper calendar is always useful, I hope they don't drop that. I'm opting out this year as I've got a new job that's going to effectively stop me from modelling.
I joined the Airfix club, waiting for my box, then got an email to say, sorry no kit,you joined at got the e-club membership, you want the proper club membership you have got to rejoin

Airfix need to put a series filter on their website. Otherwise you have to go through all the kits to choose a kit from the chosen series.
i have mentioned that.. glad you spotted it too
Gotta wait while June before I get my kit ,joined halfway last year ,but will get it
