      NonyaBusiness! In Cuba is not like that. When people see tourist they want to show them there houses they want to have a connection with the world outside Cuba. Is just the way of life over there everyone is just to friendly. Most Cubans protect tourist when they visit. They will ask you for money or gum but they won't steal from you like that either. But you are right you always have to be careful.

      I lived in Cuba for 6 years. Cuban people always invite foreigners /tourists to show them their way if life,food ,dance and drink. They are just kind people and yes almost all cubanos

    It is true what the Cuban guy said, you smile a lot and are very polite and genuine, while other americans that go to Cuba are more serious, and like scared of meeting people, and definitely don't know a lot of Spanish. I have had Brazilian friends and I can see a lot of it in you. Spanish is very difficult language and you speak it very well. Keep learning!

    • @Churros1616
      @Churros1616 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spanish is not a difficult language. Especially if you speak Portuguese. For Brazilians it’s easy to learn Spanish.

      It's easier and cheaper to learn English in the United States. To begin with, Spanish is offered at almost all public middle and high schools throughout the United States. Unfortunately, most students don't pay any attention and, consequently, don't learn anything, but one can/could learn a lot in the US public school system.

    • @WhitneyChakara
      @WhitneyChakara 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think I went up to Spanish 3 in high school however when the classes ended we were reading a children's book. like a children's picture book. so I wouldn't say a lot. But maybe it depends on the school system, for example, I'm in the south.

I would definitely go if you have the chance. Whatever has already become Americanized will not be noticeable to you. You will not have the comparison.

    We ran around a town in Germany once trying to find Dioralyte for a friend, it was great fun going into a Drogerienmarkt and trying to explain the concept of a packed of salts to help you rehydrate, the looks we got were priceless, especially since the native speakers we were with hadn't heard of it so they could only give the same explanation as us but with better grammar. Eventually we went to a really posh Apotheke and they looked up the product online for us and found the version available in Germany.

My problem is that I was always embarrassed to speak and make mistakes with the language but I am definitely going to throw that out the window this year and actually converse with other Spanish speakers even though I still struggle. I would love to move to Spain at least to work for a bit

  • @daan8336

    I love your videos, but saying "It's nothing" to the lady in the store is just rude. 45 CUC cents may not mean a lot to the average US citizen, but to local Cubans that's more than the fare for a bus ride around town. So please be more considerate of these income differences before making such a remark. It might cause people to feel really uncomfortable or even a bit offended.
    (I know you weren't trying to be rude. Only letting you know how it comes across.)

      desiderataification Actually the most important languages are: English, Spanish and French.

    • @retro527
      @retro527 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I disagree. I don't consider French as being one of the most important languages anymore. It's useful, but not important (unless you'll live in a francophone country ofc). English is hands-down the most important language to learn, there's no denying it.
      I would argue languages like Spanish or even Arabic are growing in importance too, but only given political, social, and commercial reasons only. French is "dying" soooooo yeah.

    • @retro527
      @retro527 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm learning French btw and would love to visit France or any francophone country one day so I'm not hating in the language. But I took a linguistics course, and both my linguistics professor and my French professor admitted the language reached its peak YEARS ago (when it used to be the lingua franca of law in Europe). So its days are long gone. Still a good language to learn, especially since its close to the other Romance languages so it wouldn't hurt learning it + a lot of great literature is in French.
