Thanks John fantastic video, have seen a couple of videos but yours is the best by far. You really had a great position.
Thank you John. Greatly touched. Isn't wonderful that 68.8!!! of us adore the horses and very much love, admire and respect the soldiers.
A generic question regarding the horses used at the front and during the changeover when you have multiple horses, are they shared between the two different types of guards or three different types of guards that are used? Or does each group of guards have their own horses assigned to them?
The two regiments of The Household Cavalry Lifeguards and Blues and Royals have their own horses based at Hyde Park Barracks . The Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery have their own horses which are trained for pulling the gun carriages and are based at Woolwich .
Thankyou John. for filming this its so appreciated
My Husband was escort to the Colours in 1990. It was the Welsh Guards year. He said it was the proudest day of his life. An they had a Queen's recommend. We watch the entire Troup on TH-cam yesterday so he could point himself out to me. I wasn't married to him then. I would have been so very proud to have been his Wife.
Our forces certainly put on a magnificent show. Bless Catherine The Princess of Wales wishing her and King Charles a speedy recovery. Thank you John for a brilliant video
Katherine
Can you just imagine All the training and drilling Those soldiers have to do ? Absolutely incredible That's all I can say
Wonderful sight seeing Trooper Jeffrey riding alongside the other top 3 from The Elizabeth cup. Very special moment for Trooper Jeffrey I’m proud xxxxx
Wonder which horse he was riding?
Absolutely mesmerising watching them march. My heart bursts with pride and admiration for these wonderful men & women . THE BEST IN THE WORLD without question. ❤❤❤
That precise 90 degree turn of the lines of guards, then forming the lines abreast, is so impressive to watch close up, as is watching the pinwheel formation of the massed band. No wonder they do so many rehearsals.
Well done John on filming this wonderful event
Yes, well done John.
The thought of controlling all those horses boggles the mind. One going off could have a domino effect.
What an impressive event, very nice video tfs. Just read the letter to the Irish guards, how very nice. I certainly hope and pray for Catherine The Princess of Wales a full recovery from her cancer. God Bless her and her family.🙏 Also, may your King Charles have a full recovery from his cancer battle. 🙏🤗
The dog is the Mascot of the Irish Guards Regiment. The carriage would have been for Princess Catherine and next week will be occupied by The King
Thank you for sharing the information.
All I need to know is…was little Frank invited? Frank is like Cher now. He only needs to be known by his first name. The kindness these soldiers show Frank is heartwarming. Thanks for sharing your videos. We enjoyed them. Your naughty cousins across the pond! 🇺🇸🇬🇧🐴 😂
Adore hounds. Loved horse level. One could almost stroke a passing darling! Wonderful sound and clear vision. Who could not be greatly moved by the glorious soldiers honour, loyalty, duty, perfection and beauty. Thank you so much, John.
What a honor and privilege be able go backstage. Just shows how much respect you give the guards. 😊
Live in USA, never been to your country but would be a privilege if opportunity ever existed.
I love how the Kings Guards do their slow March.. so elegant 💂♂️🐴
Congrats! What an honor, John! Well deserved. You educate people around the world and have utmost respect for military and law enforcement, and they obviously appreciate it! I’ve learned so much from you about those. I’ve also learned not to visit there in spring break or summer - yikes!!! Someday maybe I’ll get out of Heathrow!
Have a blessed day!
Awake at 0139 hrs John , loved seeing the Life Guards & Blues& Royals arrive , got the giggles expecting Ormonde to canter up late ‘ l’m here ladies!’ ( no disrespect )
Juno was so good for her first Trooping The Colour rehearsal and Apollo , ( Harry ) Drum horses .
So many moving parts yet all make it look so seamless, much respect to all The Life Guards and Blues & Royals & British Army.
Got very sombre on the second pass trying to see our favourite Troopers and Horses, they did so well
Thank you so much John x New Zealand 🇳🇿
For those in the UK Trooping the Colour will be shown live BBC1 Saturday 15th June 10.30am till 1.10pm. Unfortunately John won't be commentating on their coverage, mores the pity. But thank you John for the amazing filming and behind the scenes at horse guards.
Can always watch on red button if the commentary becomes annoying on BBC no comms and imagine John doing it 😊
John, I have watched a couple of other presentations of Trooping The Colour, and yours takes the cake mate. Thank you from Australia!
Thank you mate! 👍
I agree 👍
The bands on horseback are phenomenal as well.... playing while controlling their horse... just.... wow!
Thanks so much John for your insight/info about these traditions that those of us who do not live in the UK, are somewhat unaware of. This is why John has the most informative, interesting vids on TH-cam.
Thank you again for this view of pageantry in UK, nobody does it better.
I found myself getting all teary-eyed watching this! What on earth's wrong with me! I'm just proud to be British, I suppose! 😅 Also, I felt a yearning to go home. Lack of finances, bad health, and old age prevent me from doing so. Plus, my grown children are here in Australia. Ah, well. That's just the way it is.
Absolutely AMAZING!!!! The amount of work that goes into this parade is astonishing!!! 👏👏👏
I spotted my favourite NCO...the marvelous Blues and Royals CoH Dan..looking magnificent as always!!! ❤❤❤He always steals the show!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much for this wonderful video John..the ground zero position is fabulous!!! ❤❤❤ xxxx
good afternoon john yet another fun day at horse gaurds hopefully no idiots disrespecting the kings guard
Thank you for posting these wonderful videos! I will be setting my alarm for 4am next Saturday to watch from Boise, ID. We were lucky enough to be in London during a rehearsal for the Trooping in 1993. I was standing at the railing right in front of Buckingham Palace. We had been talking to a lovely police officer about her husband's love of the Los Angeles Dodgers and baseball when some very rude German tourists pushed me out of my spot. She scolded them and made them move to give me back my spot. When I couldn't get quite the shot I wanted of the horses, she took my camera and got them for me. We got her info and sent a package of Dodgers gear when we got back to L.A.. Definitely one of the highlights of the 3 weeks we were in the UK.
GOD SAVE THE KING.
LONG LIVE THE KING.
Like you, I was desperately trying to spot Ormonde. I think he was in the line furthest from the camera. I nearly made myself dizzy looking at the horses' legs as they passed, trying to spot the 3 white socks.😀
So many three white socks in parade kind hard spot your favorite horse. Watching on video I also tried spot my favorite Pegan ❤️ she’s so beautiful.
Мой любимчик усатик Тор,кажется был в оркестре кавалерии. Красавчик!
Me too!!! 🤣🤣🤣 xxxx
Magnificent video John you did a splendid job Godbless all our Magnificent Military and their Blooming Marvellous Horse's. Thank you John Stay Safe ❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Absolutely wonderful so pleased for trooper Jeffrey and his colleagues too
Thank you for taking us all John. We really appreciate it
Well John all I can say is nobody in the world does Pageantry like the British and to think these men and women also defend our country when we go to war absolutely outstanding, thank you for another great video
TY John for giving us first hand views of this glorious event. ❤
I am amazed at the precision of the marches, such a lot to remember, they must be so proud to be on the parade ground today, the work that goes into this has paid off, they are second to none..
fantastic sight and sound from horse guards. No one can do it like the Brits. Your camera work is exceptional . Thank you for your hard work.
Yes John it has been wonderful to watch.I was born in England but have spent most of my eighty years in Ozz.I have been to England on visits to see family but never made it to horse guards much to my embarrassment,That k you for your wonderful coverage.
Thank you for the great video. And great you captured Seamus 😄 The Irish Guards answer to giant horses is a giant dog 😂. Funny how the Parade ground, which is so familiar to anyone who watches your videos, looks so different on a formal occasion. And oh wow…..watching the horses coming down to the entrance to the parade ground…..just stunning. And the sound of all those hooves……great as the military bands are, that was REAL music. Kudos to all the HCav troopers, the horses looked fantastic as indeed did their riders. (And ofc the other regiments…..but who am I kidding, it’s the horses I’M watching for 😄)The timing of the whole thing is mind boggling really isn’t it.
Wow you really got close didn’t you, John? (Dust notwithstanding 😂) how very cool!! Reminder for next year, bring a bandanna or a mask🤣
The dog is an Irish wolfhound and though they are a big dog I have seen much bigger ones 🍀
@@marymcdermott9581 yeah I know, but they’re known along with Danes, as a “giant breed”
John big Fan of your Channel great to see a video though where no one present can actually disrespect our serving Military. God bless our Gracious Sovereign King Charles III and Catherine Princess and hope they are both Well soon. Looking forward to the main Troop next week when the King is present. God save the King
Hi John and what an amazing video you have done extremely well
I felt as if l was there with you
I feel very very proud of every trouper and horse
A very emotional video
Thank you so much ❤
Hello everyone. Happy Sunday. No work today. Relaxing with john and the guards.🎉
The dedication and sacrifices of military families are profound and often go unrecognized. The experiences shared by those who have lived on army bases, moved frequently, and been intimately connected with the military's customs and traditions, foster a unique appreciation for the ceremonial aspects of military life. The Trooping the Colour ceremony, with its pageantry and precision, is a vivid representation of the discipline and history of the armed forces. It's a poignant reminder of the legacy and valor of those who served, like my grandfather, one of who made the ultimate sacrifice at Cassino, Italy and remains buried there. My deep-rooted connection to military life enriches the understanding of such traditions and underscores the importance of remembering and honoring the contributions of service members and their families. Thank you for your excellent work John, taking the videos, editing and sharing them with all of us. Huge appreciation!
Beautifully written Nadia. I agree 100%. it's a world few are aware of - or appreciate. Thank you! ❤️❤️
What a beautiful Ceremony. There is nothing like this anywhere else. Precise & Spot on. Congratulations to all the Soldiers. ❤
All horses & and soldiers looked magnificent during this marvellous event.
Atlas (aka Harry) and Juno, the 2 drum horses, took a while to settle and hold their positions when they arrived at Horse Guards parade ground but their riders do an amazing job of guiding the horses via the foot reins (and their knees, etc.,) while having play the drums...... though I did notice the use of the drum mallets to help get them into position once they were lining up at the edge of the ground. 😉
I was agog watching the drum horses as I’ve never seen foot reins.
Being a musician, I was in awe how the riders kept drumming in time whilst
manoeuvring their massive mounts. Brilliant job
@@DJKSB58 All the mounted musicians are amazing as they only have one hand on the reins while having to use the other hand for the instrument but the drummers on the drum horses are exceptional. It's also why you'll never see trombonists in the mounted brass bands. 😉
I spotted King Ormonde, he was in the second troop. ❤
Absolutely top notch video, to see the troopers and horses so close best film ever. I too watched couple of other videos but you are the best my friend🥰🥰🥰🐎🐎😎
Wow! That was something else, what a fantastic show, makes me proud of my heritage. My Uncle was in the Life Guards back in the day, pre WW11, was great view John, excellent job well done and a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing that.
Thank you for the great view and narration. Your comments are wonderfully respectful!
I love seeing Seamus who is a delight. Thanks.
Watching this later as I've been away at a family wedding. Thanks John, it's truly magnificent to watch all of these beautiful men and women and the wonderful horses. Val.🐨 💟
I love Seamus!❤
I watched that the second time at 2x speed, it really highlights the precision.
John a great great video. LOVED every second. You really need to free lance commentary on the BBC or other news outlet. You are right on and I am very sure people will listen and appreciate your sense of humor and knowledge. All the best from the USA...Sue
I feel so proud of being English. Thank you John for recording this for us . I am so overwhemlmed ❤
Firstly I hope you had a wonderful time and thank you so much for filming this and sharing with everyone. I just love watching this. It makes me very proud of our forces and the way they make it look so easy. A lot of hard work for them but it really is a spectacle. Thank you!
What a incredible sight! I am so envious.
Thank you John. Very much appreciated.
Wow the band was exemplary. Loved it loved everything. Thankyou so much John for sharing this for us.

This was an awesome sight to see. Thanks ever so much.
A magnificent display of precision by all. This has to be the most spectacular presentation of military drills anywhere. Thank you, John, for sharing this with us.
Great filming John, I could taste that dust had to have a sip of my tea
It’s so precise and faultless it’s beautiful to watch this is why they need to rehearse ❤❤❤❤
Thank U so much Mister John absolutely incredible ❤❤The plight of the Commonwealth is well catered for AMAZING....from New Zealand
The dog made an appearance in a documentary of Kashkets Royal Uniform Makers, when he had to be fitted for a lovely new coat. You know, changing all the ER's to CR. You might like to watch it John, it's so interesting. Thank you for this video, I really enjoyed it. And it was lovely to see the sun shining for you.
Thank you so much for this! Thank you for conducting yourself in such a way as to let this happen.
As a fateful follower of the Horse Guard and a family history of English and Irish forebearers even though American I had tears of happiness watching such an outstanding display of The King’s forces. John, what a great job of capturing the close pictures of “our” men and women and especially horses of the King’s Horse Guards. I did miss Ormonde although I think I saw Monty.
Was able to catch it live this morning John but prefer it with your quiet commentary well done was fabulous watcing thevformation from a different angle
What a great recording. A small commentary makes all the difference. Thank you John.
Wonderful John! TY for sharing I'm so enjoying this.
Really am enjoying this John, thank you very very much. Greatly appreciated 💙
Magnificent amazing to see thankyou john for filming ,behind scenes shows how much they trust you for your always respectful and looking out for them at horseguards ,horses stunning wish l was there❤all troopers should be very proud they did amazing
That was amazing John 😊 especially when you moved lower, we tried but weren't lucky enough to get tickets this year, but that was like being there. Thank you 😊
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful event. Everyone involved should be very proud.
Thank you for braving the dust for that glorious pass buy of those magnificent shimy troopers riding their majesric 4 legged troopers!
Your explanations of who, what, etc., make your videos the only ones worth watching, thank you. When there’s coverage but no commentary it is so frustrating, not knowing anything. Hugs from a Johannesburg, South Africa. Please keep it up!!
Thank you John ,another wonderful video ,miss your talking! All the soldiers plus woman ,Fantastic.Enjoyed it immensely.🇳🇿❤️
Absolutely stunning, much ❤ from Las Vegas 🎉🎉🎉
Какая красота! Вам очень повезло.Завидую...

Thank you John for the great video so we could see all the amazing soldiers ❤
Thanks!
That's very kind of you Jean, thank you! ❤️❤️
@@LondonCityWalks my absolute pleasure. Your videos have given me hours of entertainment, and I'm learning so much. Your humor is so appreciated, and your directness in protecting the dignity and honor of the work these guards when tourists get out of line do makes me so happy.
Nice one John, better spot this time👍😁
Wonderful, John. Thank you.
It’s amazing to watch thank you for covering it and sharing it with us all 👏👏👏
Excellent video, John. Thank you so much! We really appreciate it. 🎉

Another fine video John. Thank you for sharing this with us! 🙋🏼♀️💂🐎🐎
Absolutely spectacular John. Didn’t see the dust! Wish our Elizabeth Cup winners were more visible. Horses all sowell behaved! 🥰
Thank you for this video! As always beautifully done and it brings me from the US right to the action! Thank you again!
Thank you, John for such a magnificent video. ❤
Hello John, I knew it: the secret fotoshot of Downing Street 10, you naughty boy!
Looking forward to all the fun at Trooping the Colour part 2 😊
Absolutely Brilliant video again John, thank you so much. I recognised a couple of HCav troopers including the handsome Life Guard Trumpeter! I think I recognised some of the others including a couple of Blues And Royals Troopers who haven't been at Horse Guards for ages. Didn't see Ormonde, perhaps like you said, he was on duty. Also a couple of the Gunners from Kings Troop as well. Anyway, once again, thank you John, I really enjoyed it. Hope you weren't too dusty from the parade ground!😂😂. God Bless the Princess Of Wales.
Красота!
How awe inspiring, thank you John 😊

7:18 trooper Jeffrey and co arrival?
I know the Foot Guard Regiments are magnificent but the Horse Guards are very spectacular. You choice of seats have been excellent allowing us a grandstand view. Thank you John.
Hi John. Linda from Florida. Thank you for filming this. Wow! This was truly spectacular! The English blood in me was just bursting with pride!
