- The Return to Bloody Nights is a very popular FNAF Fan Game that centers around the concept of Fredbear's Family Diner, one of my favorite concepts from FNAF as a whole. Unfortunately, despite its flashy visuals and satisfying writing, the gameplay is anything but. Let's discuss!

i honestly dont mind the flaws, i think this game is perfect if you consider it in context of it being based mostly on the first game: the sound and visual design is incredible and it arguably has MORE story and content than the original

I’ll remember this as the ONE Fnaf game which scared 8-Bit Ryan so much, he quit playing it because he couldn’t mentally handle the suspense and dread. That’s when you know, you did Fnaf PERFECT.

The return to Bloody Nights manage to create that simple and classic feel to what makes a FNAF fan game as a whole very special when it comes to horror. The part where the animatronics pop up at the door very close in your office, definitely gives the vibe when we played FNAF for the very first time and how it was the scariest thing ever.
And it was extremely helped by the fact Markiplier played it. It felt like a blast to the past...
Indubitably. How shocking the jumpscares were wound up heightening the terror even more as opposed to defusing it over time.
I had always kind of assumed that the night gameplay isn't in sync with the Henry and William phone calls.
Correct, each call happens weeks before gameplay story starts.
22:11 you are missing something lmao. the timeline of this game goes like this:
The location William and Henry are talking about on the phone is Circus Baby's, they say it's a new location, meanwhile the CEO stats that Fredbear's has been around for a long time. The new animatronics that look too scary are the funtime animatronics, not the springlocks. The phone before night 5 is not talking about the bite of 83, it's talking about Elizabeth's death. This is stated during the night 5 cutscene.
So Elizabeth dies, William kills Charlie at Fredbear's, then 5 other children at Freddys, and pins the blame on Henry. The Bite of 83 is actually never mentioned in this game, and its been implied that it didn't even happen in this universe??? If I did have to put in it there., I'd say it happened like the day before night 6.

Yep! I’ve commented on this on a few RTBN videos because everyone just assumes bite of 83 because it’s fredbear related, and I’ve also had one that also got a response from the game’s creator just as you did (the comment above mine)
At the very least the bite of '83 did happen because this game is so accurate to the normal games that it'd be weird if they just randomly decided to remove a part of FNAF's canon for no reason, while being super accurate with everything else. Plus the paranormal scanner (totally a real thing)™, picked up stuff going on in Fredbear 2.0, and while that might be because of the missing childrens thing, it's heavily implied within the games that crying child and Cassidy end up in the same animatronic, which means that animatronic would likely be Fredbear, which I guess doesn't really make sense as its a prototype but it's very possible that he _was_ on stage once, and was put in the backroom because of the bite, maybe? I don't know but I really feel like it'd be out of place for the devs to just throw a canon piece of lore out of the window for shits and giggles.
6:45 you don't really need to flick your mouse to it, from what I can understand, you're moving the mouse so fast that it goes through the hitbox in order for the game to understand you want to go to the left door, you just need to hover the mouse over said hitbox and you can see the left door

@@NinjacatCreative I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but I made this comment because he said he has to flick to it and I stated that he moved too fast so it went right through the hitbox instead of actually hitting it
@@orangelightning2352 in games like these where eventually things start to get quick paced, it's not really a good design choice to have the sequence to turn to the doors be a hitbox that your mouse has to hover to a specific point through, when most likely you'd be flicking your cursor as the gameplay gets more aggressive that your play style also has to get faster, which includes quick flicking of the mouse.

I mean bonnie 2.0 it makes sense that he’d stay for a bit after knocking on the door, knocking is done when you want someone to open the door.
Broggie also says a few hints to the Fazbears Frights Books:
He says he saw children sitting in a ballpit pretending its a time machine, referring to "Into the Pit"
When introducing the puppet he says he dont wants a puppet to crawling into a sleeping mans mouth, referring to "Room for one more"
there's also another where people haven't noticed yet is the phone guy saying about how he had a dream where he turned into metal junk which could be referring to the ending of "to be beautiful"
From what I've gathered, our shifts in this game might actually happen quite a while after the Bite of 83? Assuming William hasn't been killing any kids yet by the time of these phone calls, it seems like we're simply taking a peek into the past. The calls happened, then the bite happened, a while later the disappearances happen, and a month later, the gameplay happens.

@@j.jonahjagerson5497 I think he assumed it was still 1983 because we all think Fredbear's would've closed shortly after either the Bite, or Charlie's death. But no, apparently it's still open for at least one more month after the Missing Children Incident.
Such a good game. Personally my only gripe is that the title suffers from “jumble words to make a fnaf fangame title stand out”-itis.
I mean, it makes sense at least, the game is quite literally the dev returning to their old project, bloody nights at freddy’s
..i mean how else do you title a fnaf fangame nowadays. Thinking of something thats actually original while still making sense relative to the game itself is pretty much impossible, unless the game isnt even fnaf related in the first place…

I remember seeing markipler olay this and was genuinely terrifying, but my cocky brain was like “it can’t be that bad” so i tried it with my brother, in the first night he quit and when i was playing, there was so much fear and anxiety going through my head to where my brother scared me by tounching my shoulders, he laughed and a jumpscared happened and scared both of us, and i was wearing headphones XD
I absolutely love this game, the real time mode is something that has stuck with me to be honest.
Also a use the cameras have is that they stall any animatronic on said camera. Which can save your ass when you need to let the generator cool down.

Also final thing, max mode gives you some nice voice lines durring the night. You should try it

You know The Return to Bloody Nights is considered to be some of the most well made FNAF fangames to ever exist, some of the voice acting in this are nice and the designs of the animatronics, hallways, rooms, the stage, and even the entire building are all amazing which gives us an insight on how Fredbear's Family Diner would've been like. Now despite this FNAF Fangame The Return to Bloody Nights to have flaws in the gameplay and what not, it's still a great FNAF fangame which took years to make by the way. Glad you made a video on it and i can't wait to see what The Return to Bloody Nights VR has in store for us.
Question: At 8:48 you mention the number pad does things if you type in the right codes and said you touch on it later in the video…and then you didn’t bring it up again as far as I can remember. So what does it do?
It unlocks a minigame if you type in good code, but as far as I know, nothing unlocks after completing minigame.
Also I was really hoping he would cover this game since it's definitely one of my favourites and is generally terrifying.
you should totally make a video about the history of Post-Shift, and how it was cancelled at first because it's legit one of the hardest games that ever existed (if we exclude big retros like Dragon's Lair or Friday 13th on Arcade and NES)

The game is so valve coated I couldn’t help but enjoy it through and through. Here are all the references I noted: left 4 dead style menu, a literal note made labeled huge success, wathel saying “let that handsome devil go about his business” quoting cave Johnson directly. If I missed any please let me know, I only bear the game up to night 5

22:10 the missing kid in question is I BELIEVE sammy from the book series, charlotte's brother. in the books, he was taken from a costume closet by "spring bonnie" when he was little.
I just realized we are almost close to the 10th anniversary of FNAF. Damn I'm old when this game came out in 2014.
I think, that for one it's one damn amazing fan game, and it's clear tons of love was poured into this. And secondly, while the gameplay may be lacking, the fact that every other aspect of the game shines kind of makes that alright. Sure it's not a perfect game, but it did something worth while. That's enough for me to think it's pretty damn good.

It would make sense that all the games are a different universe with an extremely similar timeline. But that’s just a theory (would also help with the whole 87 vs 83 argument, as both could exist)
Honestly I like the rng elements of the game as it keeps the nights tense and unpredictable, which is the perfect catalyst for a good scare, even if it muddies up the gameplay

I think it’s implying that the phone calls take place before the main five nights, in the last week after the bite of 83 where Fredbears was trying desperately to stay afloat, this would explain the odd timeline arrangement.
Just curious what does fnaf series and games need improvements on? And what do they need to make it better in your opinions?

I think this probably has already been mentioned but the child that's been missing for a month I THINK is supposed to be a reference to the silver eyes where Charlotte has a twin brother that gets grabbed and killed by Afton before any of the events of the bite of 83 or missing children's incident happen.
Those nights at Freddy's sure get bloody...

The difficulty spike from the early nights to the middle nights is huge
I still really like the game of chicken you have to play with Fredbear 2.0
Reminds me of (U)CN Ballora and HW2 Ennard, it's not exactly clear when they'll kill you (Ballora especially) but the difficulty is/gets high enough that you need to push your luck to have enough power for the whole night
Really love this one. Probably my favorite fan game due too how authentic it feels to a real Fnaf 0 game.
i highly agree it being in the top 3 fnaf fan games, but i also think that the glitched attraction and the joy of creation story mode are also up there too, having TJOC:SM rated as number one in my opinion, the return to bloody nights is better than the glitched attraction, but not as good as TJOC:SM. I would love to see nikson make more but i know he said he was done with the fnaf fan game scene
Apart from this one, the only other "missing link" in the franchise is a game set at the original Freddy's location around the 1983-1985 timeframe. I think it would be pretty interesting if you played as the night guard during the week of the Missing Children's Incident. Your character would be the first in the timeline to encounter the possessed animatronics - and you'd have to figure out how to deal with them without any advice from the phone.
I personally love voice acting. One of best in fangames. Story was well written imo. too

Hands-down one of the best fnaf fangames. I’m also a sucker for games based on Fredbear’s Diner and for British William Afton.
I appreciate what you do and all, but it seems that most who play this game, dont understand it or miss things or misinterpret information. I've picked up most of the information linking this game to to the FNAF games and thats why I love this game so much. I challenge you or anyone who replies to this, to give me a TH-camr who didnt jsut play this game for its popularity, and actually played it to pick up on all the things that links this game to the FNAF games. Please
The game is great and recommend for people to play it if they have a chance but the difficulty had me spending days on night 5 that got so bad i was hearing fredbear 2.0 in my left ear even after turning the game off. 9/10 though, controls were a little funky.
I still believe this game is perfect, I have played it and attempted to beat 20/20 mode alot, and just reading the title and intro was enough to give me the same feeling of nervousness, which sis my mind means this game is so perfect and scary that even it's name and image is enough to scare me

We all are
what i would 100% change about the game:
1. make controlls for looking in directions like A left, D Right, S look back, and not really important W cameras or space
2. the nights being 9+ minutes makes the game so stale but then the last two nights all the animatronics get so active, like i cant win the last night from 2023 ( payday ) because its really hard to control generator heat, you really need to know the timing for the withered fredbear that slowly comes from the left, because you can let him stay with the door open when he is in the last stage for approx 10 seconds
I just deadass have to say this, every time I heard Wathel introduce himself I always heard it as “Waffle” and so whenever I first heard it I was so confused 😭💀

There is one thing that I find weird about this is game is that apparently the in-game time for nights are random every time you play a night. So sometimes the nights are shorter or longer.
