Nice work man. I own a newer X5 but anything prior to the 2012 model have some crazy issues. Glad your scan tool communicated well and let you reprogram etc. Man that exhaust sounded a world better too when you hooked the come along to it. Smart call there. U have new subscriber..2008 750li been sitting 8 months..replaced ivm and vvt computer..and main dme today... watching this video I realize the dme has to be programmed or realigned.....I accidentally stuck 🪛 in cigarette lighter port and it would only turn over with no fire..and the shop gave me exact codes...I'm going to try this TODAY..you're awesome..and do u think it likely is same thing?
If you stuck a screw driver in the lighter socket and then it wouldn't start, I see no reason it would need a DME. The DME has nothing to do with the port. If the DME wasn't programmed to the car it needs to be programmed and coded or it will never work.

I have a crank no start on my 2006 BMW x5 e53. It was no crank, no start and drove to store and went to start and it just turned over. Towed home, bought an ebay aftermarket ignition and same thing. I think it's the ews as it now asks for 4 digit code. Will your scan tool work for resync? I won't need it for really anything else, so is there an inexpensive scanner that I can rsync with and reset computer? Thank you very much. Loved your video. It should be linked in the description. Any professional scan tool should work or you can buy and icom or use a j2534 device with ista which is the factory bmw software. Ista is only $40 I believe but a good j2534 tool is around $1000. Icom is $800.

I’ve put on some cheap battery and didn’t register it back then, and after 2weeks batt voltage dropped and suddenly won’t start,got so many codes cause of low voltage. So i change it again with a good one and register it but still won’t start. Some says i just have to synchronize ews so it’ll start again. Need help on this man. Thank you!!
Btw im from japan, dealers and local garage here sucks and their advice is just to buy a new car since the cost they would charge me can buy a new car. 😞
You have to try the resync if that does not work then you need to look at service information and do troubleshooting. There is no way for me to tell you exactly what is wrong since I don't have the car here or any results of diagnostics performed.
What kind of tester do you use what up do you have I have a 650 I my battery went low And after we’re in place it did the same thing I just want to get if if I can now which one is the name of the device do you have
Rob you sure do get some winners. Looks like it was pulled up from the bottom of a lake with all the underside corrosion. Are these cars brought to you from used car dealerships? Anyway hope you had a good holiday. I’ve been working on my neighbors sons car with a P2004 IAMR Stuck open. Pulled the actuator lubricated the runner shaft put it back together cleared codes and will see if the CEL STAYS OFF. if not I will check it electrically. I found a schematic on line. Don’t want to pull the intake as he has to drive it back to college Monday or Tuesday. Wish he didn’t wait to give it to me. It’s a Dodge Avenger 2009. Todays generation wait to the last minute and say gee can you fix it. The CEL has been on forever. He drove it back and forth to Maryland numerous but now needs it to pass NYS emissions. Whatever I said I’d try and fix it for the family because I’m a good neighbor. Thanks for listening Artie 😊

Rob this is a great field for someone like myself that just loves purchasing tools. Hit me up with a recommendation for a borescope. Used them plenty on aircraft guess now I should have my own. I have a few videos using the cheap Depstech one off Amazon, I also use the oaisis va480 I think it is. It articulates, the Depstech has dual cameras but the oaisis can articulate 180*.

There is no way to know without testing. I try not to guess because so many things can cause the same symptoms.
So I looked up your car and it does not even use an EWS, it has a Cas module.

You need a scan tool with BMW functions built into the tool.

Really the only way is with a high end scan tool or to go to the dealer. When you swap parts you can create more problems.

You should see if there is something preventing it from moving or if something is broken. I would look in with a borescope.
The BMW was brought to me from a guy from NY that found me.
