I'm currently swapping 8HP in my M57 pre facelift E53, you'll need a custom input shaft for NV125 which should be forged. I bought ATC700 from E70 and retrofitting it in pair with newer ABS unit and old VTG unit(atc400/500) with double wiring for newer VTG (atc700).

I'm even milling my own M57 - 8HP adapter plate, main benefits is technically newer hardware, RWD/AWD (xDrive) on demand, newer ABS unit which shouldn't die like 5.7 one. There's no benefits really, i'm just doing it because i have no other options :D

I was thinking of doing the 6spd manual swap for this at first. But once I tried searching for suitable parts, it seemed to become such expensive/difficult swap, that this 8hp swap made way more sense 😅
@@jospi2 The plastic pan is way higher up than the chassis is. So no real risk of it getting hit. Unless you do proper offroading, but I don't do that 😁

Toki se jotain ajonestonpoistoa ja muuta kikkailua vaatii, mitkä tunnusti olevan melko salaisuuksia. Mut mitä ite yritin ettiä noita E-sarjan 8hp lootia, niin niitä ei oikeen ollu kuin jenkeissä tarjolla. Ja semmosen hommaaminen tänne ois tullu kalliimmaksi mitä 8hp täältä + cantcu. Et jos jostain euroopasta löytää soppelin lootan, niin on ihan kokeilemisen arvonen juttu. Mut joku f-sarjan 8hp ja cantcu todennäköisesti se helpompi/halvempi vaihtoehto.

It's maybe 60-70% city and rest are highway driving. The fuel consumptions are quite difficult to compare because there's so much variables. But I have used this for same commuting trip with GM and 8HP, both on winter conditions, so the results are quite comparable.

I may even switch to nv225 from Land Rover next time my chain stretches and then I would get a low range. 16 speed theoretically in a car that came with 5 from the factory!
the error code translated means that the parking brake remains in an intermediate position for too long. but i can't tell you what this means when applied to the vehicle
@@olDirdey Yes, it throws that code when the bolt is in to keep the trans mechanically on neutral. I did remove the wrong bolt from there on the video after installing the oil lines, but I replaced it with correct one to move the car in the garage. So that's why it was showing that code. The other code is because my trans was missing the pressure accumulator. But it has no effect on anything, because there's no start-stop function in m54 😆

Ahtimen kanssa menee väännöllä rikki helposti muuta kai sitä voi rajottaa sen verran että just kestää 😅 toki semmonen 3Krpm alkaen 600nm olis aika mukava tämmöisessä isommassa autossa
in romania 8hp's from gasoline cars are a lot more expensive than those from the diesel engines , 70 is a lot cheaper than an 45 which is very weird , i suppose its because there are a lot more diesel cars here than gasoline
it should be able to show 8 gears in cluster panel. I' know a guy w/ e38 w/ m57 + 8 hp and it show's all 8 gears.. needs some recoding...(yet, he has an Turbo Lamik but should work either way)
@@tomysss1 Do you have pic of it? I find it hard to believe, because the high cluster at least has fixed numbers that only go up to 6 (or 5 in older ones)

This is exactly my plan in the future. Only I've got prefacelift X5 2002, so I will need to add that adapter for NV125 TC.

Did you cover the transmission with an underrun protection? With the plastic oil pan sticking out it seems quite risky.
