    Great video Tyrone! I'm always jealous of your Garden.. Makes me miss South African! Btw... I tried slugs on my hw100 with little success... I recently found out that all normal barrels are choked... Meaning the diameter of the barrel is always slightly smaller on the end which works amazing for normal diabolo pellets which have a very small contact area on the barrel... Slugs are completely different as any form of a choke will completely throw them off. The contact surface area is huge in the barrel... FX do great as their smooth twist technology is really aimed at this.. Only the last few centimeters of their barrels are rifled, which creates a lot less friction... Just my two cents 🙂 for now I stick to my jsb heavies! Take care... Keep up the great work!!!

      @Airgun Nostalgia thanks for dropping a comment. Yes that definitely makes sense and I don't think that I have seen anybody have too much success with slugs in a PR900 but I agree with you that the fx Smoot twist barrels do lend themselves to slugs. The big fx guys usually have certain guns set up for slugs and others set up for pellets.

    Hi Tyrone. Thanks again for your great video. I have had great success with H&N 21grain 217 slugs in my Artemis PR900. But still I can't find a pellet that beats the Gamo Expander. Very great results and good impact. In my PR900 the Expander even beats the JSB 14 grains. Lekker thing is the Expander are R90 Rand for a tin of 250. Keep up the great videos.

    My pr900w have a 3.5mm transfer port and stainless spring hammer. With 1 gram ( 15.43 grain) pellet, the power of airgun is 35 joules ( 25.8 fpe). It's really fun to shoot with this Chinese airgun.

    I have a Diana Stormrider .22 version of this gun. I use it with regulator, set at 135 bars (relatively high). I guess the bullet speed is above 800 FPS but the gun shoots awful with slugs. I tried Jsb KO slugs. With pellets it shoots fairly well. So we can say, it is not a slug-gun at all.

      @@peteralexben It is like asking why do you want to tune your car, it can already exceed the speed limit. If slugs make it possible to shoot at longer ranges, why not? It is a different story, that this particular type of gun is not capable to shoot slugs, so it is out of question now.

    The problem with slugs is its to heavy so you get blow back from through that horrible o-ring that get damaged from pellets pushing through it so the verlicty is all over the place . I rectified the problem by turning a groove for an o-ring on the stainless steal bolt so the o- ring seals on the aluminum hole were the pellet enters . Increase pellet verlicty and accuracy as no more blow bag pasted the o-ring as theres now 2 o-ring one in the barrel and one on the bolt

    @jeffslade1892 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Whilst we can get slug pellets I find they don't fit the barrel well. Besides which slugs are slow moving and you can sneak up on them - they do not present much of a challenge.
    Changing the subject - I've just discovered in a down & dirty test that rearranging the baffles in the CP2 moderator had an interesting effect. The large chamber is factory assembled nearest the gun, there is some logic to that. However I reassembled it with the large chamber at the exit, my logic to provide more muzzle brake.
    I did not record the temperature but it is February and winter and quite cold. Maybe 10°. It was only just warm enough, for me, to shoot off one CO2 capsule, certainly not shirt-sleeve weather yet.
    177 CP2 pistol
    Default assy = 420fps (consistently) , quite loud too, a "pop".
    Reversed order spacers = 455fps, perceptively quieter too, more of a "phut".
    This was after shooting 3 mags of 9, the CO2 eventually expired during the 6th mag - 54 shots, would be more when warmer.
    I ought to repeat with the dB meter and bench rested grouping, and more chrono. But the next job is replacing the mangled CO2 capsule seal on the piercer.

    • @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner
      @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is very interesting I never really moved or changed the order of the baffles in the silencer maybe worth a little experiment. I have been testing out a piece of leather for my co2 seal and it is working great. It is actually a piece from an old welding apron. If your seal is damaged you might want to try that

      Haha no stress, well in theory gen2 with the regulator should be a little more accurate due to more consistent fps but the unregulated gen1 can be very accurate once the sweetspot is found. The regulator is an item which can give issues which is something you won't need to tend to on the gen1. If you set the reg pressure down on the gen2 you will get a better shot count on the gen2

    Have no experience with slugs in cal .22 with that rifle but in cal .177 the same rifle shoots just as badly as what you show your rifle can. Be glad it's not at 50 meters you shooting, because then it takes many shots before you just hit the target. It is not the muzzle velocity that determines that the rifle is not suitable for slugs but the construction of the barrel.
    I did not think your rifle shoots particularly well with diabolo as I see several keyholes in target with them. The holes should be absolutely round.
    Greetings from the cold north.

    • @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner
      @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @TheLandbo Thanks for your comment and it seems to be that the barrels for slugs is designed specifically for that. I thought the pellets looked pretty good but it is true that there sometimes seems to be the keyhole effect sometimes but usually only when they close together so I think it is more likely the paper and not the pellet. If I shoot apart it doesn't have that "keyhole" effect

    • @webreakforsquirrel4201
      @webreakforsquirrel4201 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The barrel would have to be absolute trash to keyhole a pellet. The inherit design advantage of the Diabolo shape is they will always fly skirt aft. It's almost physically impossible to get them to broadside a target at any distance.

    • @TheLandbo
      @TheLandbo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner It is not necessarily the case that a barrel can not shoot both diabolo and slugs with great precision, it does the majority of air rifle barrels actually.
      Especially on your shots number two and three, it looks like diabolo is overturned on the target before removing the proof with shot number four. I would argue that if it is due to the background of the disc one would think it would also look as if your slugs are also overturned at the impact.
      I have a hard time seeing what background you have placed the target on but it looks like a wooden board of some kind.

    • @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner
      @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes the catchbox probably needs a little TLC. There was a cardboard support for the paper but it has been shot away so all that is left is basically the old rags and clothes inside the catchbox.
      The best test might be a piece of soft wood shot perpendicular and see how the pellet imbeds in the wood

    • @TheLandbo
      @TheLandbo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@webreakforsquirrel4201 Sorry but I definitely not agree with your considerations. I have seen many times that a diabolo flies in spirals so that it hits the target more or less with the side so that keyholes are formed. The fault list can be damaged diabolo, crooked or damaged barrals, a poorly / skewed or damaged silencer or just that people shoot a diabolo at too high speed.
