When I started learning playing piano a year ago, my teacher (she was not only pianist, but also a composer) suggested that we started learning not by learning to read sheet music, but by understanding structure, chords and their relationships in music. I played pieces without melody (consisting only with chords) for 3-4 weeks, and now I automatically try to understand chords and their relationships in music I learn to play. And it also helps with memorization 😀
Hi Matthew, These videos are the most useful ones, which really helps me to become a better pianist. Please repeat this with a different piece, in which you analyze and identify different patterns. Thank you very much.
This kind of song analysis presented in such a clear manner is rarely seen on YT! Very helpful for beginners/intermediates! Can this be a recurring video theme?
Very helpful stuff, thanks for doing this. A bit unrelated, what tablet are you using? What's the screen size? Would a 12.1" be enough? I have tried a 10" one in the past and it was too tiring reading from that.
Hello, do you have any particular recommendations on learning jazz piano theory and improvisation ? I'm a music producer and my main goal is to be able to improvise complex jazz chord progressions in the studio. I'd say im a low to medium level classical pianist with 21 years of age. If you or anyone reading this comment have any particular TH-cam videos, websites, courses or books to recommend to learn in the most efficient and comprehensive way, I'll be very happy to hear from you !
Is there a way to suggest him reacting to certain channels/pianists? I'd love to see him react to phyxinon but I don't know how to get his attention on the matter .-.
Welcome to Matthew's painting course with lots of red and blue rectangles and circles next to green letters! 😁Just kidding! This is really a great and helpful video that tells me so much about these few notes on a single sheet of paper (or on an iPad). Great job! 🙂
hello everyone i just came here to say that ive been spending a long time trying to find the song that goes "d a e d c#" and it's some sort of rock guitar and i need help finding this song

That makes sense because we don’t read a language by letters but by words and phrases
@@Thojounomy wife often asks about the memorization process that musicians use and I try to explain it to her in just those terms.
This is exceptional.
What a gift…
Thank you!
