    If your school is like mine, a lot of the basics will be covered in the beginning of the year meetings (emergency procedures, student attire, requesting time off, how to plan field trips, etc.). Check and see if you have a mentor teacher assigned to you. In the districts I have been exposed to, new teachers are paired with veteran teachers to help you adjust to the school/district. This was such an incredible resource for me and if you have access to that resource, don't hesitate to use them! But any way, this will help narrow down which questions you should ask admin so you don't have a flood for them to answer.

      Same, I work in the medical field and I just love her videos too, she is so smart and informative and I love to see all her ideas regardless of what it is. What I don't understand with this video, even though they are all great questions is that I am surprised they don't have some "before school starts" training and/or a handbook of all these answered, it's like they set you up to fail if you have to find out all this yourself.

    I am currently in college right now to become a kindergarten or 1st grade teacher. I'm so happy that I was able to find your channel. There's only so much school (college) can teach you, a lot of the learning comes with on the job experience, so watching your videos kind of helps me better understand what I'm getting myself into. I'm sure the further along in my schooling, I'll learn so much more, but even what I've already learned, I've forgotten or is a bit hazy with all the other classes I'm required to take (biology, math, political science, etc.) So, what I'm actually trying to say is THANK YOU!!! You have made me question and know whether I want to become a teacher (I do). You've been a huge help.

    Love the video! I have been teaching for 22 years now, but we were military so I got to be the "new teacher" every three years.
    Your advice is SPOT ON!!
    Decoration Suggestion: Put the gold apple directly on the desk but slightly to the right and in front of the jar. Where it is now, we do not get to see the plant. :0) It just does not flow right.

    So I've been following your channel for the last six months and you have encouraged me (and given me a much needed nudge) to apply for my PGCE. I was previously a teaching assistant and now after a successful interview I'm about to begin my student teacher placements for my training in early years and primary education. I shall be going in next week to help organise the class with my mentor and co teacher. Thank you for your enthusiasm and honesty on the profession! Love from the UK ❤️

I am meeting the teacher I will be working with on Thursday for a sit-down and talk. Thank you so much for these questions. They will be such a help to me. You are an inspiration.

    You just saved my life! I'm a first year teacher, and I'm going to be working at a title 1 and renewal high school in the Bronx, after having completed an alternative certification program! I'm so excited to get to work in a couple of weeks, and you just saved me hours and hours of stressing over questions I might have missed. Super video Michelle! Really great questions; I wish I had this 3 years ago when I was hired/new because it is extremely overwhelming and really have no idea about what you don't know and need to know. And, because other teachers are also getting ready for their own beginning-of-year stuff, they may not think of everything to tell you.
    Thanks again for being so thorough and relevant! Great job!!

    Oh wow. I'm just comparing to being a teacher in Germany 🙈 here teachers move from room to room, especially in the secondary classroom and we are allowed to wear whatever we want. I'm a secondary teacher and last year I had 8th grade and I'll have those students again in 9th grade in the coming school year. As far as assessments go: we have them in 3rd, 5th and 8th grade that's it. I guess the most grades are due in Math and German in primary school but those are around 20 to 25 grades per kid. In the secondary classroom they have about 6 tests each year in German and Math and even less in other subjects. I really love your videos even though you teach in primary but you're really inspiring and your videos are an awesome pick me up after a stressful, tiring day 💞 I hope you have some nice days days before the school year starts ( I'm starting again on 9/11 but I'll start preparing next monday)

    As a student teacher, this is absolutely what I need to prep. I have already purpose your resume, planner, etc. Question: I'm purchasing a Mac laptop for the first time. As a teacher do you recommend 128G or 256G for memory? And again you a true inspiration ;)

    • @Megan-wc5be
      @Megan-wc5be 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yankegurl2 personally I would get a 128G and then just purchase an external hard drive that's like $50-$70. I have the 128G although I'm just a college student now, I honestly haven't gotten close to 128G.

    • @starrydreamer
      @starrydreamer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ask the Mac employee, they'll be able to give you the best advice for your needs. I went with a pro because I planned on saving everything to the hard drive. The best rule of thumb though is to get the best of what your budget allows. If you can afford 256 go for that. One thing that I will say as someone who was a teacher for 7 years on a PC... a Mac is such a worthwhile investment. So much time is freed up because formatting is 1000% easier on a Mac.
