Inspired by the Mercedes AMG 6x6, the new Mercedes G500 4x4² is the latest go-anywhere G-Class, complete with portal axles for killer ground clearance.
No music, just the sound of this V8, the sound of nature, and the lovely sound of the studs going all over everything that are in front of them :) I just come back to this video all over and over.... I don't know why I always enjoy this video. This G500 is simplely perfect. Love this car.
The G is a timeless legend that is build to last. Defenders were never as reliable as the G. The Toyota Landcruiser would be a better competitor. The G 4x4 however is a beast stockready. Jet it is just top expensive for most people and this is the problem with the G in general. The car is too expensive for those people who would use it as intended. Back in the days many people working in the woods here in Germany used the G. It was reliable and indestructable. Over the years it became so expensive that nowadays no woodworker etc can pay the price. Therefore the G farmed much hate. However, the G has always been and is still a phenomenal offroader if one can pay the price and is willing to take it offroad.
I actually see some older ones getting used to drive in forests, where I live. But I saw also somebody doing the same offroad stuff but with an new Cayenne Turbo...

Cars aren't just judged on rock crawling capability alone though, but rather on road and off road abilities along with driver comfort and reliability too. Therefore as a complete car it would wipe the floor with the rubicon or anything that the USA manufactures

Went off road with my friends before, one of my friends had a G500 4x4 and he saved me and my G550 along side my other two friends Wrangler and Land Cruiser Classic. These really are bulletproof off-road with a knowledgeable driver.
Andres, I've known plenty of people who haven't had issues. The Wrangler Rubicon can perform just as well in almost every situation and costs a fifth of the price. Not to mention its aftermarket support and how easy it is to fix.

Make this thing armored, and any president want it as support vehicle for his lifeguards. Make it army green and it will do great on special ops, or red and usuable for crossing the artic. Nice they refine what is already fine. Bessermachen!
we have seen these stuck in desert of dubai, while a tiny cheap suzuki jimny running circles around them in desert LOL. even the rule of dubai who has one of the most expensive model of this was stuck in desert with this and others helped him out LOL
There‘s a quite cool video on youtube with a Fiat Panda cross vs a Land Rover Defender. The Defender got stuck in the mud while the Panda passes by like nothing.
@LWRC Its not a pretender, its genuinely a really nice looking car, it looks unique. Just because its marketed as an offroader doesnt mean you have to use it for off roading... sports cars are for racing but it doesnt make you a moron for not racing with them.
Maybe 1 percent of the people who buy this car will ever take it off road. It's cool and all and hell I want one. But for off road use you can buy a 4 door wrangler, mod it with a crazy suspension, tires, off-road equipment etc, and still be less than half the price of this thing. Yeah it's got a sweet interior but if you're going off-road you're likely to get dirty and mess that up too. They should advertise this going full speed of NYC potholes. That's what I would get it for ;)
I was thinking the same, then I saw the mercedes logo at the end and it hit me. I think they are not driving the car or reviewing it (in fact they are not talking at all), somebody from the brand brings and drives the car, they just do the shooting, cinematography and editing with no music or talking, just sounds (which is awesome)
This is actually the 6x6 cut in half, and that monster shares the chassis with unimog. So this IS actually a unimog, just a bit more friendly, and with heated seats.

Bob Roger you're wrong the G Wagon is an old design and a terrible vehicle to own. And the articulation is terrible. Horribly overpriced for a vehicle from the 1970s. We were going to buy one before doing some research on them. Glad we never bought one, waste of 200 grand.

So now tell me this is not a freakin good car for offroad. And, just for the record, the normal g wagon is still one of the best design for offroading and one of the best equipped, out of factory (not the g65, i'm saying the 500).
Giacomo Paganini it's still an overpriced & outdated design from the 1970s that only the rich people of Beverly Hills & Russian mobs buy, it may be good at offroading but it's not worth $200,000 and there's tons of other vehicles that cost less & can do way more off road while also being more comfortable, reliable, and practical in the long run.
