Another football game without Portugal :( The cover looks nice and it was cool to see the score section used. I have only played the Mega Drive version (on the Mega Games cart) and have fond memories. The Master System version looks very nostalgic to me, I would like to have it. BTW, American Football should be called American Rugby or Handegg :p
The best part of this game was the penalty kicks! There is an easy way to score, you run in the direction of the keeper and when he aproaches you touch the ball to the player at your side. It works most of the time and when I discovered it I beat the game easy as a child. But I didn't play this one very much, not the best soccer game at all.
I like the Mega Drive game, but this...not so much. But at least it is a lot better than Champions of Europe on Master System or Pelé on the Mega Drive. I think the players on the cover are supposed to look like real players. I am not an expert either, but the German player is probably Rudi Völler.
You know, I kind of got that same feeling, which is why I made the comment about if you could mesh the World Soccer engine with the World Cup setup this game has.

Definitely a little surprised at having China as a bonus team over Portugal and France.

I didn't like this game at all when I was a kid with my master system. It really was awful lol.
If you don't figure out the trick to scoring, it's basically unplayable, similar to Pele on the Genesis.
