      Thanks Jeff. I’ll pop in, maybe on camera or chat. Have folks coming through, we will see which way it goes. It’s got most of what I expected, I would have loved a multi-angle 2000 nits HDR screen on the rear and a higher capacity battery to run it all. LOL!

    Wayne Mattock's opinion holds significant value among Nikon shooters due to his extensive experience and deep understanding of the Nikon system. Unlike many new videographers who have recently joined Nikon, Wayne is a true Nikon authentic shooter who knows the ins and outs of the system. If you're a videographer just starting out with the Nikon system, it's worth paying close attention to Mr. Mattocks' advice.📸✌

    It's a bit better than I expected. I'm not a fan of the flippy screen, but that's not a deal breaker. Will definitely pick one up later this year. Looking forward to full reviews on production models.
    Where did you get that video with the designers btw? I didn't come across that one.

      I used to be in the camp that didn’t like the flip forward screen, using the FX30 that had no viewfinder, gave me an appreciation for it. Later with the A7R V, that’s what I used mainly, due to having some hand pain with it’s ergonomics when using the EVF, it’s multi-angle screen made it such a joy to work with. Those clips were from Nikon Japan, we (I am in that camp for sure) complain how Nikon doesn’t do a good job with their marketing like Sony however, when watching their site, you get to hear from the engineers and designers about how and why they made the decisions for a particular camera. From the presentation, it almost seemed like the Z6 III wasn’t going to happen.

    Wayne So far your opinions on the value of the Z6iii gave me more insight into this camera than any other TH-camr video. I do not shoot video I'm a still photographer with a Z8 which I purchased because I was tired of waiting for the Expeed 7 technology to trickle down. My entry into Mirrorless was the Z6ii which is a capable camera when I was shooting events and some types of larger wildlife. I felt is lacked the mirrorless focusing experience I was looking for. I did love the Z glass with the Z6ii. The Z8 fulfilled those focusing and high resolution imaging needs. I will be buying a Z6iii to replace my Z6ii.

    Granted, I’m neither a professional photographer nor videographer and my comments are simply those of an amateur Zf owner/enthusiast. The badass EVF is cool, but would have preferred/expected the bling to be brought to the rear screen on a video-centric camera. Debating on whether to add this camera to my bag as a complement to my Zf or a Z8. First world dilemma!

    • @waynerm002

      I’m with you on that rear screen, phones have HDR screens and I would like to see a larger HDR screen on the back of cameras. I do understand those screens can use a lot of battery power when used at high brightness outdoors. That may end up on a pro-camera first, Z9 II or something with more battery power. I’m right there with you on adding to my collection or selling one of my cameras to get it.

    I wonder how much baked in noise reduction are inside the internal raw video of this camera. Nikon raw has some noise reduction and detail filtering in Nikon-raw video files, but what about Proresraw ?

    • @waynerm002
      @waynerm002  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From my experience with the Z8, the RAW files needs some work to clean up the noise, especially in low light. I have a couple of 8K videos I shot, one with the cleaned up files and the other where I explained what I had to do to get the night footage noise free. In Gerald's Undone's video of the Z6 III, during dynamic range testing, he mentioned NRAW does not have any noise reduction applied like what you get from other cameras. I tested ProRes RAW and the footage was grainy however, since it is not supported in Resolve natively, I don't use it.

      @@aiseurnae5976 I went to look at the article, the images posted looks like what I have seen in high ISO night photos I have taken with my Z8, not what I have seen recording N-RAW. N-RAW does look grainy/noisy at ISO 800, but not as bad as at higher ISO. Check out Cine D's dynamic range test of the Z9, they did one on an early V1 log profile and then another after firmware 3.0 V2, they didn't mention N-RAW having noise reduction added. I don't recall hearing/reading anyone else stating this.

    • @aiseurnae5976
      @aiseurnae5976 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@waynerm002 Thank you, indeed Cine D never mentionned NR inside N-raw on the Z9 review.
      I'm very interested by the Nikon Z6-III because I'm tired of Panasonic, mainly because they offer the same sensor from 2017 (since their S1 released in 2019), even the video quality of the SII is worse than their S1 and S5 because they added a lot of sharpening, detail filtering and chroma noise reduction making the image really not appealing each time I need to crop a bit in my videos.
      And also the lack of Panasonic S Pro lenses (the last one was released in 2020) is another issue.

    • @waynerm002
      @waynerm002  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@aiseurnae5976 I've seen some photos and video from Panasonic cameras as well as Leica and they sort of have a similar look. I started my channel with a Panasonic camcorder and wanted to give the S1H a try but the AF was worse than my Z6 so I didn't bother with it. I like the result from the Z8 in SDR, NLOG or RAW. I want to get back fully into the Nikon system but, I do like using the FX30 as well. The Z lens are great and some of the S versions aren't too pricey. If you do decide to get one, I would suggest the 24-120 f4 S lens over the 24-70 f4 S, you get more range and it's only $100 more. If you can go all in, the 24-70 2.8 S is a really nice one to start with or the 1.8 primes. Nikon optics are really good.

    Z6III is too expensive !!!

    • @waynerm002
      @waynerm002  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why do believe it is too expensive? What price do you think it should reasonably be sold for? Let’s look at what the competitors are doing.
      Sony introduced the A7 IV almost 3 years ago with a 33MP sensor but with similar specs to others in the class, for $2500. In the past year other manufacturers have re-released their sensors from their old cameras with updated processors with additional features (4K60 still with crop), while requiring external 6K RAW capabilities. Canon introduced the R6 II a,most 2 years ago with an upgraded processor, it is able to do 46K60 with no crop but, with 6K externally for $2500. Nikon has introduced a new sensor with their latest Expeed 7 processor in the Z6 III, performing closer to their flagship camera, carrying new features from the Zf, while upping the onboard video capabilities to 6K60 RAW internally, being able to record up to 2Hr 5Min in a body with no active cooling, for $2500. I would say it’s priced appropriately for the class.
