    I have been using the same bottle of Autoglym EGP for about 15 years, just get it out once or twice a year and still going. Prefer to reduce the cure time a bit as otherwise gets hard to buff off. I got a bottle of Turtle Wax Grapheme Flex Wax on offer recently and it is better product except maybe value for money. But I'll keep using the EGP till it's gone, unless it outlives me.

    Came across this today. I really like Ultralock+. I machine apply. Let set 30 min and it buffs off so easy. Like you mentioned. Durable.

    My pick among those is actually the Collinite, which lost points on it's application, but was just off the podium on both ratings. The secret of that stuff is actually something you mentioned, machine application. A little goes a long way by machine, making it cheaper, and the machine will spread it more thinly than you can by hand. It also goes faster and easier that way too. Between that and Fleetwax (as a paste), I consider the Collinite best overall dedicated wax products, and other than the tricky application, nobody with any real experience will argue with you. For me, performance beats my personal well being, so things like ease of use, scent, etc., are secondary considerations.

    I’m a fan of Collinite in the summer when it’s warmer out. It tends to be a lot thinner and super easy to spread. Found it also a doddle to work with in direct sunlight too which is a bonus.

    Fusso F7, Very good price, durability and excellent hydrofobic. Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection!! I used it 7 years ago....About Colinite there is the 476s. Good choice for the winter. In the video the Autoglym is the Extra Gloss Protection. In the Description write "Autoglym SRP" (Super Reasign Polish). Nice video. Nice products. Thank you!

    I’ve used quite a few on here and others that aren’t but I really like collenite 845. It’s so so easy to put on and it’s durability is great. It’s my chosen protection this winter. In general from what I’ve used I’m finding these spray waxes to be quite hydrophobic but they simply don’t last as long. I’m going with a carnuba wax as base and top up with quick detailers.

    Excellent comparo as always, Jon. Thanks for doing a protection type that doesn't get much attention these days. Something I'd love for you to comment on and show some footage of in your comparos, even if it's too subjective to score, is the filling and darkening/jetting and how they contribute to overall look. You've addressed those categories with Siramik Lustrous and in your glaze comparo, FWIR. I think it's worth at least commenting on for protection products because looks is important to most for choosing LSP. Not to take away anything from your work on gloss measurements, which you're tops on and is super valuable info. Just that I started watching reviews expecting measured gloss to tell me which looks "best," and over time I've realized filling and jetting are more important to me (and I think many others) for the look I want on my car.

      @@iMANC1966 From Jeff Silver-Jescar Finishing Products at the Autogeek forum: Jescar is the importer of Menzerna products in USA. Jescar offers a completely different and unique product line that is in no way the same as Menzerna. Power Lock (latest version is Power Lock Plus) is a Jescar developed, manufactured and sold product and is in no way the same product as the sealant that Menzerna sells. In addition to the Power Lock Plus sealant Jescar also offers the new Ultra Lock Plus which builds on PL+ performance with ceramic technology for longer life and enhanced water beading. Unfortunate confusion when Menzerna decided to use the same name as the Jescar sealant and we certainly regret the confusion.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Almost certainly yes. A wax is like 50% mineral spirit. And buffing off a wax will have an abrasive effect on the sub micron film if sealant.

  • @AndreasSchwarzinger
    @AndreasSchwarzinger ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I hope the following comment is ok as it will be a rather critical one.
    The very fact that you did this additional video in which you name products YOU would choose and pick which are NOT the winners of the test shows the limitations of large shootout tests based on point systems and a proclaimed winner.
    I had this very samd discussion with another TH-camr and it‘s the reason why I personally won‘t do any large comparison tests anymore.
    The fact of the matter is this: you as a tester can pretty much pick and choose which product wins this test by the testing categories you choose and by the decision to not only give points, but also weigth these categories. If you for example decide that beading is far more important than gloss slickness, then the AutoFinesse would not have won.
    Also, you already mentioned it: some testing categories are somewhat flawed from the getgo. What I personally experienced is that durability tests based on chemical resistance testing STRONGLY depend on which chemical you use. Some products cope far better with certain surfectants than others. You chose tonuse KC Greenstar, but the results could have been VERY dofferent if you chose to use a different APC. That‘s why chemical resistance testing is somewhat limited in its explanatory power from the start. Gloss testing is another category which is extremely hard to judge.
    If you publish a video with the results from a large comparison test and you then feel the need to do an additional video in which you name YOUR winners, then in my humble opinion there‘s something wrong with the testing methodology. And as I explained above, every comparison test based on points is somewhat flawed.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      yes :) but its so subjective anyway isnt it. Because what I like might not be what others like or vice versa. At least with the original video you get a set piece test on each criteria and you can sort of then make an informed decision and filter out what is not important to you. gloss testing like this is flawed or it requires more testing on other panels with different base physical gloss to get better results.

      Methodology is methodology. It can aid in forming an opinion, but isn't required.
      That's is what this video is about.
      Overall, they're just sort of fun to watch.
      The *problem* is that these tests should be taken with a grain of salt - and they are instead often taken as gospel truth.
