The "shoving cake in the face" thing has to be very clearly communicated before the wedding. My husband and I agreed no shoving cake in our faces, though we did end up putting a little boop of frosting on each other's nose. Something I could easily wipe off and then touch up my face so I don't look a mess for the rest of the night
I think it being communicated beforehand gives all the more reason to push for _actual_ tradition. Barley cake. Crumbled over the bride's head.
Yes. Communication. It just seems like a waste of money playing in the cake like that, AND the brides makeup, AND her dress getting all messed up.

My cousin wore a poncho over her wedding dress to prepare for the smashing. They went to town on each other. It looked like they had a lot of fun, but I was like “Nope, not for me.” My husband very gently fed me a bite. We’re not that intense. 😂
2:16 i think it depends it have to be agreed on before the wedding and follow it on the wedding( i always think about how the bride is gonna clean herself fix her make up hair and dress if it was a surprise) i would hate if someone did this to me on any day even more on my wedding day so i gonna talk about it with my future husband and this is not gonna be a thing on my wedding i will juat hapilly eat my beautiful cake with my husband

You take all the time you need to bond with your little one when she comes, that is far more important. We can patiently wait for when you are ready. I have two of my own, 7 and 5, so I know how it is.
I remember making a 5 tier wedding cake in August with no AC. My belly was HUGE, and I was bumping it on everything. I gave birth 4 days after that. 😂 Def something I dont want to do that pregant again. Lol

I love the USA. I love its culture both high and low, its music and food. What I don't get at tall is the seemingly passive aggressive ( sometimes agressive aggresive ) tradition of smashing wedding cake into faces. It's an ick to me. I'm from the UK where it isn't a thing.

When I saw this was a reaction video again, I was soooooooo happy for you. You’ve said how long it takes to make cakes and I can’t imagine being on your feet that long at that stage in pregnancy… well… I don’t have to imagine… I have four kids and have been on my feet that long at that stage… So… sooooooooo happy you’re taking it easy!

My parents actually saved the top two cake tiers from their wedding cake and kept them in the freezer. One was eaten at my brother’s christening, and the other at mine.

I work in a bakery where we use those cardboard boxes for wedding cakes. I can confirm that we NEVER carry it by the handle. You have to carry it by the bottom.

I think wedding cake smashing can be fun if the couple is into that. If my partner were chill and down for it, I think it'd be fun to both do it to each other! But if they aren't up for getting messy on their big day, doing it is a huge AH move

I would be absolutely furious if someone smashed a cake in my face. I think the big red flags are people who specifically have discussions of “Hey, don’t smash cake in my face please,” and the husband just… doesn’t listen to that boundary.
