What a lovely collection of good old days photos of Hessle road we lived down Gloucester St down Hessle road for a short time in 2007 was a lovely house really loved watching the old photos so lovely how it was put together who ever did it and the music fitted in well shame you could not get pictures of how it is now and compare then would be nice 😊
I was born into a 2 up/2 down on Flinton Grove, a terrace off Flinton Street in 1976. I hold a lot of my childhood from there till it was all levelled, moving on through Hawthorne Ave for a year, onto Bilton Grange, and then around the Uni area. I've lived in northern Europe for the last thirteen years, and in many ways I think the memories of how Hull used to be hold greater power than the city it has become. I miss it, and equally I know that if I visited I would have those memories destroyed also. Very bittersweet, thanks for uploading Keith!
I really love this songsof Hessle Rd great story's as they played only if those days was still h❤ere I was born down there wit❤❤h❤❤ my mum and dad and 3 brothers😅 love listening to this always none stop ✋️ thank you for this videos
Born down Bean Street, 1 Industrial Terrace. Remember great (and dangerous) fun when they started demolition. Moved to Orchard Park. Thanks for the memories good stuff
I remember the Hessle Road. We were visiting my uncle in 1960 who lived in Hessle! Took the bus and was struck by all the terraced houses. To me it didn't look too bad because I came from Glasgow and if you had seen the tenements of the Gallowgate and the London Road then Hull looked ok.
I just love hull those where the great days i was born in abby street ho i love to go back in them days u could leave your babys out side your door no kidnapping no beggers asking for money 💰 you could leave your children playing in the streets those good old days are gone now horrible technologyv etc hessle road songs are so great to listen to and the pictures of the houses i feeo so relaxed watch your videos thank you keith 😅
Mam was off Wassand Street, dad off Strickland Street, I was born down Stricky…dad’s local boozer, Stricky Arms And Wassy Arms…spent many a Saturday afternoon sat on the step outside Stricky with a bottle of pop and bag of crisps…

@@shaunlee9627 the thing I remember most about Rugby St was a “wire rope” business towards Hessle Road end. Looking through the gates I always wanted to go in and look round. Both of my Nans lived down there 👍😀
bigmick, People say, " The Good Old Days ", but there was no n.h.s. yet : it was all "privatised".... Will those bad old days return ? Not sure what decade these photos are from : it looks pretty grim... Hardly any gardens or trees ....🤔🌿 Two up, two down houses, With small backyard, and outside toilet... Front door right on the road.. Coal fires, smog, no central heating, single glazed windows, no insulation....🤔 Has it improved at all ? Hope so ...🤔 Must look on Google Earth Street View... 🇬🇧🤔🦉👎😢🙄🇬🇧
I was born down Bean street 1959, great video showing just as it was back in the good old days

I was born and brought up down Field St....
Remember visiting my aunt and uncle in Gillet street in the early 60’s before they moved into a prefab.
Vintage google street view. I suspect that there is only one of those buildings south of Hessle Rd still in existence (Wassand Arms)
How nostalgic, I was brought up down Gordon Street, Boulevard, for my sins :)
I was born in hessle road hospital, in 1965
Who sang the first song.
Mam was off Wassand Street, dad off Strickland Street, I was born down Stricky…dad’s local boozer, Stricky Arms And Wassy Arms…spent many a Saturday afternoon sat on the step outside Stricky with a bottle of pop and bag of crisps…
The first song sounds like Dorry (Calder Rivers)

no street trash laying around or weeds being allowed to grow in gutters ... in fact everything looks better cared for than today
A pity about the sound quality 😢
I lived down rugby street till 1985 and the photo of rugby st isn’t rugby st as it wasn’t that narrow down there

Are we just supposed to know where Hessle Road is?
Hull
The more observant would have noticed Hull UK in brackets. Guess you aren’t one of them😂
If you know, you know. Besides, the clue is in the title.
