Thank you 🙏. I was only 2 years old but I remember many of the attractions here as I was growing up. We lived on De La Pole Avenue not far from the fair ground. I absolutely loved fair time.
This is brilliant Sandie. So many memories! I grew up just around the corner from walton st. The first memory I have is being carried by my sister and turning the corner into walton st. Seeing as all those lights, it was a fairy land! Thank you for giving me those memories.
Priceless memories, I was 10 years old in 1973 and would have been at the fair virtually every night, in your video I have seen images such as The Caterpillar that I haven’t seen for 50 years…thank you so much.
Such wonderful memories of the excitement of saving up pocket money for Hull Fair. The walk from Bricknell Ave down Chanterlands. I was 10 in 1965 and my father who was in Hull fire brigade would be on fire duty. The smells of hot dogs, burgers and stalls with pomegranates and coconuts. Oh happy days and nights. ❤
@@barrytraversen2850 sorry, no. Laws is my married name and I left Hull in 1971. I did have a friend though, who's parents ran the Marrowbone and Cleaver pub. Also my brother attended the grammer school. Life was so much fun in those days. Kelvin Hall was my senior school. William Patterson (Bill) was the headmaster,
That was excellent .Thankyou so much for sharing ,lovely memories put to film .Real history and a reminder to anyone about the danger of too much development around the KCOM
Omg thanks just come across this What great hull fair memories I remember Walton street old houses Like that and the grass that was so muddy Love old footage was 8 way back in 73 fair was a real treat back then happy time thank you really enjoyed this x
Thanks so much for posting this. A rare document of the time. That's some very special footage you have there. Very generous of you to make it public. The BFI, amongst others would be very interested in this, if not already known.
I twagged school for a week to work at Hull Fair, looking after the worlds smallest horse for the worlds smallest man which basically was a Shetland pony owned by an alcoholic dwarf who spent too much time in The George on the corner of Walton Street.
wow! many thanks for uploading this sandie/neil.. I was born in 73 and live near walton street, it's fascinating to see the area from that time period..
@@neilpinnock3530 yeah it was strange seeing the houses along walton street.. I vaguely remember them like that.. they were all cleared and rebuilt. and now even the george pub has been demolished

I would deffo have been at the fair...with parents..in 73. I would have been 12. It was a magical, weird and slightly threatening place..smelling of burgers ,hot dogs and onions. What times they were.
Great film record. I was there in '73 as a young teen. Every time I hear Elton John's Crocodile Rock, I think of the waltzer at Hull Fair.
Brilliant Love. Thanks for sharing ❤

Took me back to a time and place. Was 15 at that point. Health and safety of today would have had a field day lol
Lovely film. I think the terraced houses in Walton Street have since been demolished?
Brought back memories of my visit to Hull Fair in the late 60’s. Still have the photo of me holding a monkey. Lol
Plenty of opportunities, but very little chance! 😜
