I'm absolutely blow away that Jimmy Stewart's grave is so common. He was and is still my all time favorite actor. We we're at our family reunion in "97" when my daughters heard of his passing and they kept is from me until the reunion day was over because they knew it would destroy my day!

It’s a surprise to me that Jimmy Stewart has such a humble grave marker. He was so popular in Hollywood I guess that shows how much of a simple man he was in real life.
Watching "It's A Wonderful Life " on Christmas Eve has been a staple in my family since I was a kid and one I've continued into adulthood. The only Jimmy Stewart movie I've seen and I think from that alone that he's one of Hollywood's best actors.

Lillian Gish, another beauty. Mary Pickford. Harold Lloyd funny guy and did some wonderful stunts too. Check out "Safety Last". So many great silent movies out there that tell really good stories. I like silent movies and watch them often. I like all kinds of movies. Old and new.

Humphrey Bogart is my uncle and aunt Lauren Bacall who we lost in 2014 are so missed. My uncle and aunt were so generous and took good care of us. That fortune didn't reach us the younger generation but we are proud. It's a strange life back in that era but I was just a boy. I remember John Wayne and Abbot and Costello at my 5th birthday among some other legends of film. My day was so wonderful as I remember. It was at his home at Holmbly Hills. The one person I couldn't get over was Dorothy.... Yes Judy Garland. I had a star studded 5th birthday but U didn't know. Who could brag at this day in age that John Huston bought you a pony for your 5th birthday or Frank Sinatra gave you a thousand dollars in cash with a signed card that said " Don't get in to sho biz my boy , love uncle Frank".... I'm 82 now and on my way out but it's a great story to pass on. Pass on your own stories whether real or fake to entertain people so you can bring them joy. Brentwood isn't my uncles place in the hills but I still get celebs who reach out to discuss my uncle and aunt. No names out of respect but you've seen attest 7 or 8 nominated for Oscar in the last 14 years. 7 who have won! God bless and follow you dreams!
I had the honor of meeting someone at at her age 100 that knew of many of the stars back then. She even has a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. The movie system back then transformed people into stars. Not like today.
My grandmother was buried at Forest Lawn (1955 - 2009) she was buried on the the highest part of the cemetery on the hill side. I had no idea there were so many Hollywood celebrities that were buried (including Michael Jackson)

One of my most treasured autographs is that of Jimmy Stewart when he visited the UK in i think 1974 a true gentleman of the first order we both shook hands and exchanged a few words, my late moth was also a great fan of his i managed to get some pictures as well............ they don`t make stars like him these days alas.

Fun fact: The famous, Wyatt Earp was a technial consultant during a few of Tom Mix's movies. After Wyatt passed on in 1929, it was reported Mix openly wept during Wyatt's funeral.
From what I researched, he indeed was. Wyatt shares his grave plot with his 4th wife, Josephine and was a historical advisor during western films back in the day including Tom Mix's films.

After watching these videos, which I very much enjoy, I have to ask why are some of the areas open to the public and others closed off? It seems that the cemetery does a great job of upkeep and making the grounds secure so vandalism doesn't seem to be a big problem there. If the graves of other famous people are not destroyed or vandalized why do they think they need to sequester some of the graves but not others? You can walk up to Jimmy Stewart or Elizabeth Taylor but you can't walk up to Sammy Davis Jr. or Lon Chaney, it doesn't make sense to me.
I'm pretty sure that Sammy Davis Jr was able to be walked up to, he showed it in #2 video of this cemetery I believe. But yes, I know what you mean. It's weird. Probably wishes of the family.

There was rumor that Rex Harrison, who was having an AFFAIR with Carole Landis at the time of her passing, either killed her himself, or had her killed. Apparently his wife found out about the affair. And Carole was wanting to make a more PERMANENT relationship with Harrison. Also, Thank-You for the tidbit on Bogey being buried with a Gold Whistle from Bacall. NEVER heard that!!!!

These videos are excellent! Very informative and detailed but also entertaining as well! I'm lost for words as to how huge this cemetery is and how many famous legends are buried here! I hope to visit Hollywood one day when I can for a holiday and I will definitely be paying this cemetery a visit! I am intrigued to a few things though, when you talk about the gardens that are locked from the public and you talk about needing a key to get in, but show what's in them anyway? Do you have a key? Also, I noticed in some other videos of the tour there were areas with as cord in front of them (like with Clark Gable), yet you still went in there anyway? Do you have special access to some of these areas? I'm just interested to know :)

Regarding Robert Young. A long time ago I read or saw on tv that he made sure that his co-stars on Father Knows Best were insured that they would receive residuals from reruns of that show. Classy guy.
Others have tried to provide a famous grave tour but none have your simple guide to the world of famous graves. The music is never too loud. I watch all of your videos but this is my first comment. In 1970 Billy Graham brought his crusade to East Tn. And I and my dad were in his choir. I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Ethel Waters. I was only 15 years old but I knew who Ms. Waters was. I helped her up a steep flight or stairs up too the stage and she talked with me for several Minutes and as we said so long she kissed me on my cheek. That's been almost 50 years ago and I will never forget that encounter. Thank you for your great tasteful postings Hollywood Graveyard.

I have such respect for the actors of the golden age; the ladies were classy, the gentlemen were real men and all were patriotic! Contrast that with actors of today.
Thats why the golden Stars like Bogart or Stewart, Douglas and Lancaster still will be famous in 50 yrs and most most of the todays celebs are forgotten in 10.
I'll remember knight for being the narrator for 1970s super freund's. Never got to meet him, but I wish I could have said thanks for making my childhood great.
I am from Cameron County, the second smallest county in PA where Tom Mix was born and raised. Saw his ghost once walking across his family property while on a Boy Scout camping trip to fix up the families estate. Unfortunately now, to many have destroyed what we did and it is not managed by anyone anymore. Before Tom became an actor he delivered ice to residents of the county. One of the former secretaries from our school remembered him coming to her house to drop of ice.
The grave ar the top of the highest point is where Terry Kath is buried, along side his parents. Terry Kath was the legendary singer & guitarist for the band Chicago. I have visited a couple of times & am always amazed at the beauty & grandeur of Forest Lawn.
I love these grave tours. I snuck into the Great Mausoleum & saw Red Skelton’s crypt. Little did I know that I was close to the gorgeous Jean Harlow who I really wanted to see but it was roped off. They should really let people visit then. Most of their families are dead now and no one gets to visit so try don’t get any visitors . How Sad!
I'm wondering if Lauren Bacall was buried next to or close by Humphrey Bogart? It would seem fitting but since so many years went along between their passings, maybe not possible.

My Grandpa's cabin is right up the hill from Tom Mix home stead. They have a sign and road dedicated to him called Mix Run. Thats pretty awesome. Love your channel keep up the cool Video's

Fun fact: The famous, Wyatt Earp was a technial consultant during a few of Tom Mix's movies. After Wyatt passed on in 1929, it was reported Mix openly wept during Wyatt's funeral.

From what I researched, he indeed was. Wyatt shares his grave plot with his 4th wife, Josephine and was a historical advisor during western films back in the day including Tom Mix's films.

After watching these videos, which I very much enjoy, I have to ask why are some of the areas open to the public and others closed off? It seems that the cemetery does a great job of upkeep and making the grounds secure so vandalism doesn't seem to be a big problem there. If the graves of other famous people are not destroyed or vandalized why do they think they need to sequester some of the graves but not others? You can walk up to Jimmy Stewart or Elizabeth Taylor but you can't walk up to Sammy Davis Jr. or Lon Chaney, it doesn't make sense to me.

I'm pretty sure that Sammy Davis Jr was able to be walked up to, he showed it in #2 video of this cemetery I believe. But yes, I know what you mean. It's weird. Probably wishes of the family.

There was rumor that Rex Harrison, who was having an AFFAIR with Carole Landis at the time of her passing, either killed her himself, or had her killed. Apparently his wife found out about the affair. And Carole was wanting to make a more PERMANENT relationship with Harrison. Also, Thank-You for the tidbit on Bogey being buried with a Gold Whistle from Bacall. NEVER heard that!!!!

These videos are excellent! Very informative and detailed but also entertaining as well! I'm lost for words as to how huge this cemetery is and how many famous legends are buried here! I hope to visit Hollywood one day when I can for a holiday and I will definitely be paying this cemetery a visit! I am intrigued to a few things though, when you talk about the gardens that are locked from the public and you talk about needing a key to get in, but show what's in them anyway? Do you have a key? Also, I noticed in some other videos of the tour there were areas with as cord in front of them (like with Clark Gable), yet you still went in there anyway? Do you have special access to some of these areas? I'm just interested to know :)

Regarding Robert Young. A long time ago I read or saw on tv that he made sure that his co-stars on Father Knows Best were insured that they would receive residuals from reruns of that show. Classy guy.
Others have tried to provide a famous grave tour but none have your simple guide to the world of famous graves. The music is never too loud. Very nice presentation -- Jimmy Stewart is a favorite actor of mine -- I'm glad I can still see him in all his movies. Forest Lawn is truly beautiful and regal -- a very fitting resting place for all these famous people. I visited there many years ago.
Ted Knight also had a bit part in Psycho at the end. He plays one of the officers/guards guarding Norman Bates.

I watch all of your videos but this is my first comment. In 1970 Billy Graham brought his crusade to East Tn. And I and my dad were in his choir. I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Ethel Waters. I was only 15 years old but I knew who Ms. Waters was. I helped her up a steep flight or stairs up too the stage and she talked with me for several Minutes and as we said so long she kissed me on my cheek. That's been almost 50 years ago and I will never forget that encounter. Thank you for your great tasteful postings Hollywood Graveyard.

I have such respect for the actors of the golden age; the ladies were classy, the gentlemen were real men and all were patriotic! Contrast that with actors of today.
Thats why the golden Stars like Bogart or Stewart, Douglas and Lancaster still will be famous in 50 yrs and most most of the todays celebs are forgotten in 10.

I have learned so much about the stars and their history!
I am from Cameron County, the second smallest county in PA where Tom Mix was born and raised. Saw his ghost once walking across his family property while on a Boy Scout camping trip to fix up the families estate. Unfortunately now, to many have destroyed what we did and it is not managed by anyone anymore. Before Tom became an actor he delivered ice to residents of the county. One of the former secretaries from our school remembered him coming to her house to drop of ice.
The grave ar the top of the highest point is where Terry Kath is buried, along side his parents. Terry Kath was the legendary singer & guitarist for the band Chicago. I have visited a couple of times & am always amazed at the beauty & grandeur of Forest Lawn.

I love these grave tours. I snuck into the Great Mausoleum & saw Red Skelton’s crypt. Little did I know that I was close to the gorgeous Jean Harlow who I really wanted to see but it was roped off. They should really let people visit then. Most of their families are dead now and no one gets to visit so try don’t get any visitors . How Sad!
I'm wondering if Lauren Bacall was buried next to or close by Humphrey Bogart? It would seem fitting but since so many years went along between their passings, maybe not possible.
I'm sure the likes of beautiful Carole Landis and other long lost stars would be most thankful that you have shone a light on them once again.I learned an awful lot about the dawn of Hollywood from these videos...thank you.
