Happy St. Patrick’s Day! While this is not a St. Patrick’s Day special, per se, many of the stars featured in this video are of Irish descent. Who are some of your favorite Irish stars?
Bob Hope bought me and our singer a drink in a Orlando hotel bar in the eighties and talked to me for our entire break. He seemed like great person and that is a night I will never forget.
I just watched La Bamba again for the first time since I saw it in the cinema and I`ve spent all day watching clips about Richie and his music and short life, he will live on forever thanks to the songs he left for us to enjoy.
A year after Bob Hope died I was working customer service for MCI. I took a call from the wife of a writer for Bob Hope. During our conversation, she told me he'd leave messages on her husband's voicemail trying out new jokes, which she now has the tapes safely secured. She also says he was not 100 years old, but 102. Back in the day when starting in show business several actors would fudge their age. Interesting tidbit.
That tidbit about the age is very likely true. I've heard about some actors who did fudge the info on their birthdates to get roles in movies and shows. I bet it still happens today. I bet Bob finds it funny that HE got the last laugh and got away with having the wrong birthdate on his tombstone!
I spent many an afternoon with Bob Hope as my wife was his personal secretary for some years before his passing. I feel very honored to have gotten to know him and personally Thank him for his dedication to our troops in the military. He provided me with a copy of my favorite Bob Hope movie, "Ghost Breakers."
Ritchie Valens really has a beautiful gravemarker. It's sweet that he shares it with his mother, too. An incredible musician taken _waaay_ too soon. =( I'm curious if you've featured Yvette Vickers ("Attack of the Giant Leeches," "Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman" and "Hud"). She had one of the most depressing endings I can think of; being found in her house about a year _after_ she had died. =(
I remember watching the movie "La Bamba" when I was a kid. I was very surprised when my dad told me it was a true story. My uncle, who works in aviation, still blames the poor design of Buddy's plane for their deaths. If you watch the film, the plane had a distinctive V-shaped tail. It is dangerous as it sometimes couldn't produce adequate lift in flight and several crashes were blamed on the design. Plane companies did away with it shortly after. What my uncle told me only makes their deaths more tragic because I'll always wonder: could the tragedy have been prevented? The deaths of Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly saddened so many that it was forever known as "the day the music died."
Bob Hope was a wonderful, very charitable, and generous man. He cared very much about our troops. I have a lot of respect for him. Thank you for allowing me to pay my respects to him through this video. I truly appreciate all of your hard work.
As a kid, the Bob Hope movies came on tv on Saturdays. My parents would stop whatever they were doing to watch them. I would sit in the floor and crack up. His quick whit and humor in the face of danger made a huge impression on me.
The movie was good, but the Filipino Mix actor LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS just doesn't look ANYTHING like the Mexican Richardo 'RICHIE VALENS' Valenzuela. Sorry, but if they could do it all over again, get somebody huskier with a square face!
I liked when you visited Ritchie Valens. He was one of my favorite singers. I liked all his songs. It's so sad he died so young. It would have been great if he was in the movie Coco like other musicians. Rest in peace Ritchie Valens you will never be forgotten.
Ritchie Valens was a great singer for his age he was very talented he died way to young and to soon at the time he died before I was even born in 1975 he maybe gone but his spirit lives on and his music. Iam 45 years old and I love his music better than today's music god bless you Ritchie Valens may soul rest in peace sweet prince of rock and roll fly high to the angels and play for god and the angels in the heavens.
Lots of great stars interred there. Bob Hope should be remembered not just for his on screen work but his support of the USO and US military. Great to see William Frawley, Michael Maltese, and Chuck Connors final resting places. Thanks for your research and hard work on these videos. Good stuff.
Fun story: I read scripts for production companies in the 1990’s. One day I was headed up an elevator on Wilshire Blvd in the Beverly Hills area. A man got in the elevator and I was SURE I knew his face but couldn’t place him for the life of me. As he got out it hit me. My face lit up when I realized who he was as he stepped out and said, “Got you.” It was Bob Hope. Genius.
Thank you so much for this! My grandmother is also buried at the Mission; she was never famous, but she loved meeting celebrities and I think it would please her to know she was among such good company. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that William Frawley was buried here as well! I am a huge fan of I Love Lucy, and to think he was there all that time. I will have to pay him a visit next time I visit my Nana's grave. Thank you again for this informative piece of San Fernando history!
Sparky 1998 It is amazing that he includes so many old movie posters, I remember these on the walls outside movie theatres when I was a kid in the forties, my cousin and I did all kinds of crazy things to earn money for the movies all of 12 cents back then, but that was a lot of money for a kid back then 25 cents bought a movie, a drink, and a box of popcorn
Hi. I am old enough to remember all this people and their work. It makes me happy that you enjoy learning about people and things gone by. I think you'll find it makes you richer.
@@psefti I agree ! ! was a kid in the forties also and i am so amazed at things that i did not now about a lot of these entertainers! I still am heavy into music, movies, and current events at 76! I wish we could go back in time! stay safe !
My dad went to high school w/ Ritchie Valens (RIP) at San Fernando High, was at his funeral. He and his classmates were all shocked and saddened! Well done video, keeping it bookmarked for future reference!!
Thank you for this video. I also am from San Fernando. This video is full of sweet memories of my family. My grandma was raised in Hollywood and loved all those old movies. She adored Bob Hope. And my mom worked at the Mission in the 70s. I love LA and miss that time. Thank you for the history lesson.
My favorite actor remembered here is Bob Hope. Not only was he very funny, but as a Vietnam vet I really respect his many travels around the world to visit and perform for our military. During Vietnam he actually came under fire. I really miss him. Thanks Bob, for the memories and God bless.
12 Angry Men is a terrific movie. Ed Begley along with 11 other stars gave terrific performances. If you haven't seen it.......see it. It is a film that should be on everyone's movie bucket list. Excellent video Arthur.
Thanks for showing the final resting place of so many persons who left such legacies. I especially appreciate your kind words about Ritchie Valens who died far too soon. I'll always wonder what additional musical memories he would have left for us to enjoy.
My Favorite musician of all time, Ritchie Valens, Its because of him that Im playing guitar and singing and making people dance and I owe it all to him, His Music and his Voice, And even though he died 41 years before I was born I owe him a lot, Thankyou Ritchie I hope to visit his grave site one day
Thank you for featuring San Fernando Mission. My Mom is buried there and I never knew how many Stars besides Ritchie Valens and William Frawley are at rest there! Your videos are great history lessons as well as highly entertaining! Please look into Mountain View Cemetery in the Pasadena area. Lots of history there.
Thank you Arthur. Your the best! I really admire your respect for the deceased and all the reasearch and hard work you do.! You always make my day with your series! You are a gem! Look forward to the next next tour!!... as always.

I happened upon your channel by accident and I must say I love what your doing. Each video is jam packed with info on not just famous stars but really notable and interesting people. Thank you so much for sharing the backstory on Hollywood's greatest talent.
This was amazing. I have a lot of family buried here. The Navy brought me to the East Coast where I live now, but this brought back so much nostalgia for me - especially seeing inside the mission again.
Very nicely done! You fielded a lot of areas and gave a great example of each person in various forms of media from posters, sound clips, film and trivia! It's very nice and appreciated to see the care and respect you've given to these fine folks, who one way or another made us entertained! You've made them alive again (or introduced) to this audience and have made what every entertainer wants.. To be remembered! Thank you!
How great to see all the old. Talented stars and the it was so interesting Faces and named I knew and had the pleasure meeting In looking forward to seeing Mario Lanza snd Dom Del Louise. So much talent so many memories THANKS

Bob Hope performed at the Music Circus in Sacramento, CA and was so delighted to be in the audience to be able to see him. His autograph I do have and cherish it immensly. RIP Bob. (CA)
Arthur, I always enjoy your videos, learn a lot, and I like to remember those who have past on before me. I also liked how you shared your home video at the end, that was cool. Keep making these, and I'll keep watching. Cheers.
Wow I live right by this cemetery. Both my grandparents are interred there too. I only knew of Ritchie Valens but didn't realize there was so many other stars, and I never visited the Mission grounds either. When this lockdown is all over, first thing i'mma do--thank you for posting this :)
I clicked on this video to see this California mission. I was gladly surprised at how interesting this whole video is, great job! Also, the tree in beginning of video is an Olive tree. Oh and I love Bob Hope too!
I'm enjoying life; but so glad that I took time out to visit this tour! Thanks for the lovely memories of greats and stars! I totally enjoyed it! 👍🎬⭐⭐👍🎬🌹🎬⭐⭐
Another video very well done! Made my weekend! I wouldblikebto add that Clarence Nash was also the voice of Huey, Dewy and Louie as well as Figaro the cat in Pinocchio and the original voice of Daisy. Amazing guy! Also, William Bendex also played Chester A Riley on the Life of Riley Radio show before the tv show! Like most sitcoms of the era it began on radio and transferred into t.v. Another fact is the sitcom "Married with Children" is loosely based off of "The Life Of Riley" , although Peg's character is very different between the two, Al on "Married with Children" and Chester on "The Life Of Riley" are quite similar! "What a revolting development this is!" - Chester A Riley (William Bendex)
Oh and Clarence Nash also voiced Herman the duck on the Burns and Allen radio show! Aurther, if you like the t.v. sitcom you should listen to the radio version! Take care!
Mark Hall 2219@ Gmail.Com See my on TH-cam type in Mark Ghost Hunt and Ghost Sprint see it on TH-cam type in now Mark Ghost Hunt and Ghost Sprint see it now type Now????
I sang a song about Donald Duck on first grade so I was excited to see classes Clarence "Ducky" Nash's grave too! He's one of my favorites. I'm sure my fellow 80s babies remember Quack Attack, the block of Donald Duck cartoons that aired in the early 90s. I also want to say I'm glad you highlight lesser known stars because unfortunately, most never got wide recognition until after their death when old movies played on tv or Hollywood historians dug up info on movies.
Oh no, I'm aware. It's unfortunate that Disney, Warner Bros. & many other cartoons of that era had pro-Nazi propaganda, racist cartoons (that were later banned) & other unsavory things. But we also have to remember the context of the time. Since then, all of those companies have renounced or apologized for those & never made those cartoons & films available for sale. Disney was also very progressive in his later years & the company now is very diverse & inclusive. I feel that we can look back & learn from these things & more forward being better. If we condemned & banned every person for having those views during that era, we'd have nothing to watch. Now just to be clear, my comment is not meant to condone or excuse those views because they are wrong but we also can't speak for their frame of mind back then.
Thank you for another fascinating Hollywood graveyard tour! I can’t decide which grave was my favorite; maybe Chuck Connors. I once had a Rifleman lunch box. Wish I still had it!
Right they are still entertaining us..! By the way y'all...✔ out Bob Hope in Ghost Busters" w Paulette Gooddard.and scen w Ruchard Carlson on board ship docking describing zombies "sometimes you see them walking at nite on Island ...w no brain & dead eyes " Bob says" oh u mean a Democrat"!!?? ...think that was ablibed..haha..think Carlson almost lost it.........
I love your videos. My grandmother and mother spent many Sundays visiting cemeteries. The way they saw it, if they stood and read a headstone then whoever they spoke of had a prayer said for them, my Dad just said they were nosy!😂 I think it's nice. I find myself drawn to do the same now. Keep up the great work!!!

I know the Talmage sisters have wrong birth years on the name plates of their crypts.
I just wish a cable channel would buy your series and pay you BIG bucks to make these episodes. They’re WONDERFUL!!! I love every single one of them.

Ritchie Valens, 17 years old. What a tragic loss.
Perhaps Lou was the nearest they could get? Good film though.

Oh and Clarence Nash also voiced Herman the duck on the Burns and Allen radio show! Aurther, if you like the t.v. sitcom you should listen to the radio version! Take care!

Gloria Talbott, bless her heart. She co-starred in the adorable comedy "We're No Angels" with Humphrey Bogart.
Loved her in "All That Heaven Allows" and in the 1950's Disney TV show "Zorro."

One of the best, and thats saying something as all the videos are superb. Thanks so much, and Thanks for the Memories...
This episode was really good, d.d. and bob hopes tribute, and hey aurthur-Hardees is still around in selected states, lol🍔🍟🍦
ShinbiBelldandy yes!! We do remember!
You do such a great, respectful, and informative job with these productions. Thank you for your research and hard work. Great Job!
Awesome✌ I love your videos👍😎Thanks for sharing your work💞Keep it up👍😎
Thank you for another fascinating Hollywood graveyard tour! I can’t decide which grave was my favorite; maybe Chuck Connors. I once had a Rifleman lunch box. Wish I still had it!
Wow I love all your Videos! You do an OUTSTANDING JOB! Very Informative!
It was very interesting May you guys R.I.P 🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 you guys are still big stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌹🌹🌹🌹
Excellent video. So many memories. I just love William Frawley AKA Fred Mertz!
