It bothers me soooo much that Bob Ross is given credit for not only this painting technique, but everything else he copied from Alexander, from slapping his brush to "Happy little trees" and everything else...
Before Bob Ross, there was William Alexander. My brother who was an artist always watched this guy back when we were kids. Such an amazing painter! Brings back lots of memories.
Bill was a lovely guy who cared about nature, Bob was also a lovely guy who cared about nature. And anyone who has watched Bill or Bob is probably a lover of nature as well. Each one of them taught so much, and not just on the canvas. So is one of them less than the other? Truth be told they are both a hard act to follow.
Funny how everybody says “Bob Ross,Bob Ross”. But THIS is the guy I watched when I was young. Always mesmerized at how this guy would bring a blank canvas to life. “Happy little trees. “Happy little birds. “Happy little clouds.
So enjoyed. Took painting lessons from Bill Alexander in 1977. Brought back very hood memories just watching and hearing his voice. I still love to paint. So relaxing

This man manages to sound angry the whole time while telling you to love yourself and be happy
When you're so old that you thought of Bob Ross as the young upstart that stole Alexander's show.
The man who taught the legend that is Bob Ross, who is a legend in his own right.
If Bob is ASMR, then William is whatever the exact opposite is. Kinda like how Bob talked about dark and light needing each other.
I watched William before Bob. I loved his enthusiasm! It didn’t come off as angry to me. I loved watching him.

I can't imagine Bob Ross explaining that the little house is empty beciss the man who used to live there was "a drunk, he got on that lousy bottle!"
He was fired up on this day! No copies! Are u still sleeping lol

Its nice to see where Bob’s influence came from! Both of them are fantastic painters! Bob was more mellow while Bill was very enthusiastic.
Bill Alexander taught us a joyful view of painting. Kind of like dancing on the sunflower fields.
"I shouldn't talk about that. Kids might start fire now" 😂Bill's hilarious and talented.
"Happy Clouds"! "Happy Clouds"! My favorite Bill Alexander expression!

" I need to change my ducks, I do so much for them, but they never talk back to me" made my day :)
