Hi all - we've created a new video on your role as an exam invigilator UPDATED for 2023-24 th-cam.com/video/pbEhh4TC2jo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YhgwdNGcDjLGzIii

Hi everyone, a viewer made a good point that we wanted to highlight:
A bottle of water may be taken in if you wish to do so. However, the water bottle cannot have any labels and needs to be see-through. You will need to show this during the environment check process.
No watches at all are allowed in the exam room, not even a normal watch.
We always welcome feedback on our videos so thank you Marcus for the feedback!

Excellent work done. I will always replay it each time I am called to invigilate.

Given that most exams in England and Wales are done under JCQ regulations, there are some things in the video that aren't compliant with the JCQ regs. (eg telling people times)

Hi Neil, thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. In regards to your point, JCQ regulations state that an invigilator must not give an indication of time elapsed or remaining unless the candidate has been awarded a prompter, where a 5 minute warning may be given at the end of an examination

I don't agree with the instruction not to let the candidates write on the question paper. With English papers in particular, candidates normally annotate texts before answering the question.

So many things wrong with this! But two main things, candidates must NEVER use blue ink, and ARE alllowed to write/highlight on their question papers.

Only a 5 min warning is allowed but must consider the impact on the students taking the exam re 15 min sorry but this is now out of date !
