    Great review, thanks for doing that - and I am pleased you watched and enjoyed the show rather than filming absolutely everything, it is far better to enjoy the moment so your short clips of each song were all that was needed.
    It is almost amazing how those songs someone may not be so fussed about are transformed into real bangers when they play them live - 'Gimme Chocolate' is a prime example, I think it is fair to say it isn't everybody's favourite, but the energy is always boosted and it always gets the crowd going - it would be a real shame if it wasn't included in the live set .... and it does sound so much better live too.

    I'm 30 and I was at the Jakarta show few weeks ago, my body felt like sh*t the next day, but my soul felt full, I was checking all the fancams I could find for the whole day lol. 2 Days after the show I already missed them. The Australian show was amazing from the fancams I've watched, good job for all of you.

    Nice review. To help get through their shows. Moa says they do a lot of physical training. Sounds like the fans are going to have to start training too. No Rain No Rainbow has only been done in Japan. While on tour around the world they tend to do their more upbeat songs. Especially for their festival appearances. Often only having a half hour set for those. They like to hit you hard and fast. Building up to the last song. At that point you get the We Are Babymetal. They're stage presence so strong they get everyone by this point. The festival crowds become Kitsunes and Megitsunes. For their own shows you were there. I know you felt it. The life altering experience. Feeling tired yet very happy. And I see you're already looking forward to the next Babymetal album. I have to say a forth coming Babymetal album will be the one thing Babymetal doesn't surprise their fans with. The only question is when will we get it? Babymetal has never released albums in back to back years. With them referring to the current album as 3.5 not their fourth. Makes me think they're already working on another album. Especially with a new member. Momoko has to get on an album recording. That will be the official fourth album. Next year after the current tour ends? Hmm could be. Babymetal concerts always remind me of a line from the Van Halen song Top Jimi. "Sang so good that the roof fell in. Now everybody wanna go." I know I want to go and it seems you're ready to go too. Kitsunes UP🦊🦊🦊

    I was at all three Australian shows, and overall it was great. I was second row center in Brisbane and Melbourne, and in the pit for Sydney. Overall, I felt Brisbane was the best show because the venue had a great atmosphere and the crowd was absolutely mental (also most reasonably priced beers at the afterparty). Both Sydney and Melbourne, being much larger venues, pulled in a more casual crowd, as a result the energy wasn't quite as intense and the crowd participation wasn't as organised or consistent as it would be with a room full of card-carrying kitsune. Regardless, they were still all great shows, and my only real gripe (apart from some of the audio mix issues) was the fact that they played the same setlist at all three shows. They hade to be aware that there were a lot of us who were attending all three nights, and it would have been nice if they mixed it up just a little bit.
    One thing you find with Babymetal songs is that experiencing them live is a whole different vibe to just hearing them. I used to not really like Pa Pa Ya!, but once I experienced it live in Japan, I understood it in a way I hadn't before, and now I really enjoy it. Similarly, I've always been lukewarm on Shanti, but seeing it live gives it a whole different energy and I was able to get into it a lot more.
    Rowing pits started among fans of the viking metal band Amon Amarth, who subsequently wrote a song in honour of the rowing community called "Put Your Back Into The Oar". There was a big rowing pit during Headbanger at Makuhari in January as well.
    Next time you should get in the pit. I'm 47 and I was down front all three nights and I survived.

      I agree with your comments about the Melbourne crowd. I was in the seated area and there was very little energy… in fact I was like the only person standing up and jumping around (sorry to people behind me). Compared to the energy at the Asian shows just prior, I was honestly a bit disappointed.
      Maybe I’ve seen too many videos from their Japanese shows and was expecting that kind of involvement.
      Guess I’ve just gotta see them in Japan to get the full experience!

    • @Icipher353
      @Icipher353 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@nicholassemmens6732 Yeah, the energy in Japan is off the charts. Everyone knows all the lyrics and knows all the call-and-responses and actions for all the songs, so the crowd in 100% hype all the time. I've only previously seen them in Japan, so it was kind of a weird experience to deal with a less energetic crowd. That's why I thought Brisbane was the best show; it was the highest energy and the small venue intensified the whole experience.
      I had friends sitting in the stands, and they said the same thing about the crowd being kind of dead up there, even though the pit was going down on the floor.

    Thanks for doing this, always interesting to hear what people have to say. Babymetal live is just such a different experience from album, I've always compared it to a movie soundtrack, a movie soundtrack is fine, but if you've never seen the movie it has no context, a lot less emotion. Babymetal live is the full experience. And a repetitive, almost annoying song, on the album can be transformed into being your favorite song in an instant ! It's comments like that we've seen from fans before.
    The funny bit is, you a had a seated ticket and are still spend, the energy at a Babymetal live show is just something else !
    3:00 Babymetal Death was probably chosen, because Babymetal Death is actually an introduction song, first song on the first album ('Suzuka des' would be part of her introduction if she isn't in Babymetal gear, and Babymetal Death is actually a pun, because the 'th' sound in Japan doesn't exist so they might actually pronounce it the same). The reason they choose the introduction song: they are now a new Babymetal, with a new member Momometal.
    Babymetal live setlists: gimme choco, megitsune and road of resistance is basically on everyone since Road of Resistance released (actually even before that, because it was performed live multiple times before being released). Before Road of Resistance, Ijime, Dame, Zettai was the closing song, when Babymetal performed it again after years you could see grown men cry in the audience. People thought they would never pay it again, so you can imagine fans are very happy they now use both in the closing part of the setlist.
    No Rain, No Rainbow is actually a song which they've said: takes the energy out of the fast paced Babymetal live experience, so yeah, you won't see that any time soon.
    About the sound quality, Babymetal is usually very good with their sound and Melbourne was actually the least best of this Australian tour leg. Also: be sure to get special concert ear plugs.
    As a non-that-young anymore and talking about a Babymetal show: we usually end up doing circle pits, not moshpits and only the wall of death is thus the one to look out for.
    I might not have the stamina, but I still want to be on the floor, love it. Also I like barrier a lot, you can see it all up close.
    But I do think the best Babymetal live experience is when they have a great audience response. Very different when for example Babymetal is opening for an other band (as I've recently experienced with Sabaton in Europe, even that was probably still pretty good compared to some other shows).
    16:11 yes, it's surprising, such a well received album Metal Resistance and no song was used (Road of Resistance was a song released between first and second album, so it could be argued it's not even a Metal Resistance song).

    • @autohmae
      @autohmae ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Forgot to add: BxMxC is one of those songs which really let Su-metal talent shine on stage and she loves to perform it too. And on the album her voice was manipulated to much.

    • @chrisharris1522
      @chrisharris1522 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I was right at the front and the sound was perfect, and surprisingly not very loud, I did not wear any earplugs and my ears weren't ringing at all, Su sounded great you could hear Moa and Momo clearly and Barone is an absolute beast live. My son sat in the stand and he said it was quite loud as they had a speaker pointing right at them, and Reliqa were also really good, it was a little hard to get into as I think not many of us knew their songs but they put on a great performance especially the singer she was fantastic.

    Thanks for this review. I saw some fancams around and all Australian fans did a great job supporting the group, it was a madness. They pretty much did the same setlist during this tour, i think Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong got a switch with MAYA and METAL KINGDOM for Believing and Divine Attack - Shingeki, but the rest are the same.
    You're still so young man, don't worry but enjoy the show as you want, and also if you go to live concerts frequently without ear protection expect at least some tinitus lol 👂🙉

    Mate, if you think you're tired.... I saw the Sydney show on Friday night, and I turn 66 in a couple of months, twice your age! Then after 4 hours sleep, I went away for the long weekend. Great to see your review. I was also seated, with a good view of the stage, and loved the concert. Like you, I filmed a few snippets, but mostly left the phone alone, although I did record all of Metal Kingdom, which was brilliant. I thought the sound mix at the venerable Hordern Pavilion was quite good. I only had to resort to earplugs for support band Reliqa, who had turned their amps up to 11, unnecessarily I thought. A couple of their songs were really good, and they have a great vocalist, however both vocals and guitars were drowned out by bass and distortion, what a shame.

    Melbourne show :
    The overall mix was terrible. Early in the set, it was obvious Su was having trouble hearing her IEM, complicated by her voice not sitting on top of the mix,she found her pitch after about 4 songs in. The drum sound was awful pretty much throughout the show, it never improved but live mixing can be a shit fight. What I found odd was the unknown opening band had remarkable sound.
    The western kami was a bit of a non event, none of the energy or prolific stylising of each member of the proper Kami band. Musically efficient but none of the charismatic personalities that make true Kami such a highly regarded ensemble.
    The front 3 of the band really were quite impressive, frenetic stamina and spot on choreography providing excellent upstage support for the enigmatic Su-Metal who at just 26 is really starting to show all the qualities of a massive top tier star.
    Between the 3 and the wonderful crowd of the most diverse concert goers I have ever seen under one roof, the night was pure gold. Without that crowd, it would have been too easy to focus on just how bland the western kami band are. Excellent players but no real feel for the repitoire or audience. Perhaps over time that will improve but at $150 a ticket, attendees would be fully within their rights to expect more. 4.5 stars overall thanks to the generosity of spirit provided by Melbourne's finest assembly of concert goers.
