I am currently 75 years old. My audio system used to be tuned to listen to classical music and Jazz. (Miles Davis, John Coltrane...) But by pure accident, in 2021, I bumped into BABYMETAL on TH-cam, and have been hooked since. I have an entire new audio setup... Dolby Atmos, twin sub-wooders (need two more!) . in 2023, I flew to Japan to see BABYMETAL's first live in 3 years (thanks to COVID), drove to Philly (from DC) , and then for their last live of the year, flew to Madrid. Get this: they performed 94 live performances in 25 countries in 2023! and you're absolutely right. They train very hard so their dancing does not disturb their singing. Only BABYMETAL can get 55,000 fans to go crazy (Tokyo Dome, 2016) / Hell, I was running around in the circle pit, twirling a towel in the air... of course, I was younger then... 74 yrs. old. 🦊🦊🦊
Play songs, the horizon song vs. [ Taking you out Tonight! ] Final 2018 tour at zepp Divercity Tokyo. Who's way loudest super Apex magnitude screaming! There's a very passionate lovely song note massage past the minute mark. A young japanesse lady walks very attractively and very impressive sings! Mostly lovely. Very fine, 🙂 very fine, very fine. Then the music plays faster pace of pure lovely perfection of total successful greatnesss of very grand achievements. Which song is the impressive beautiful made song! Make your greatest judgment? Choose wisely! Yes, Kingslayer vs passcode. Oh by the way the once great very finest SCREAMING VERY LOUDEST Lady, Amada Yuna play very truly perfectly performance skills! During the 2018 "Taking you out, the very impressive concert event"! My great inspiring message is out! Have a great fabulous wonderful day.😀😊
im 41 and fell in love with Babymetal the first time i heard and saw them. Their crowd control and stage presence is top tier. I understand when people arent into this type of music and skeptical to being with. and to answer your question they are considered Kawaii metal, kawaii means Cute so you were spot on when you said are they cute metal The lead singer Su-Metal actually trains her vocals while running on a treadmill
I sadly have to report, the running on a threadmill story has no basis in anything Babymetal has said or done that we know about. It seems pretty likely someone was thinking out loud or asking a question who probably has English as their second language and it somehow was seen as a statement of fact by other fans.
I'm in my 50's and became a fan after giving them a 2nd try. Became a huge supporter when I heard their story. I think the fact that they are performers, not musicians turns off some metal Purists, but once you get over that, you can appreciate the show and their effect on the metal genre. Nothing wrong with getting a killer show with good music for your ticket price:)
I'm in my early twenties. Su and Moa are older than me and I've been following them since I was 12 (I think). Growing up they were a huge source of inspiration for me and brought so much positive energy into my teenage years! They still inspire me of course, but there's something special about having grown up "with" them. Going through all these transformations and maturing roughly at the same time they did really helped me and provided me with a healthy role model I could always relate to.
Just to satisfy your curiosity Im 26 :) The boy with the Yuyu hakusho t-shirt understood it immediately, BM are in fact cute metal, they invented the genre and it is a mix of idol jpop with metal. With all that that implies, if you don't like idol culture, the fact that a band belongs to a company, that girls don't play instruments but dance and sing, well then babymetal is not for you. That's just what they are. Even so, everyone involved in babymetal are very talented and professional and puts on some of the best shows in the world. If you are willing to follow the path, I recommend the song "Megitsune", which is generally one of the fans' favorites(ideally a live version but the MV is very good too).
That is true, tho they evolve all the time. The album from 2023 is quite far from the original kawaii concept in my opinion (like Monochrome or Metal Kingdom) and has much more "serious" sound than their previous albums. This is another thing I love about them that they mix genres and evolve, playing with music instead of closing themselves in a boundaries.
I'm 28 and a fan of babymetal. I would say babymetal has one of the most diverse fandoms there is when it comes to age. When you go to their shows you can literally see everything between 10 year olds and 70 year olds. Also BABYMETAL is the 3 girls and they only sing and dance. They have a session band called the Kami Band who plays their songs for them in their live shows and all of the kami band instrumentalists are really great musicians. Also it was Bring Me The Horizons show and babymetal were the guests. It just shows how hard workers babymetal are since they went all out and came up with a whole new choreo just for a guest appearance.
Although the Jami Band was used only one time (2 dates) in 2023 all other concerts were given by the Western Kami Band , an American Band that was organiced for their US and European concerts.
@@ksbrst2010 Well yes sure. Didn't want to go into details with different kami bands yet since they are new to babymetal. Also the western kami band played also in australia south east asia and Japan for babymetal so not just for their US and European concerts.
@@Tyyppl Yes, the big Problem with the Kami Band is that their Musicians are simply to famous in their own right. It simply got more and more difficult and since the Western Kami Band can more or less keep up with the Originals. The girls are old enough to handle their younger American counterparts. We must not forget originally they were needed for their security as Well as for their Instruments. With 27 Su is old enough to handle Stage Hands and musicians. Originally they complained that they never had children in zheir concerts, now it is pretty Commonwealth that small boys and girls come with their parents. It is obvious that the security staff has trouble to organize for Babymetal. I am certain that this is far outside Kobametals original expectations. He never expected that his renovation of the Japanese Metal market would overwhelm the International festivals. They simply needed more female security staff than they had available.
Way to keep open minds👊🏽⚡️Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Joe Elliot, Joey Belledona, Cory Taylor, and Johnathon Davis. Just a few dudes who only sing, and maybe play tambourine sometimes..🦊🤘🏾
i am 58 and been a fan since 2013. like others have said, Babymetal fans are all ranges. when i went to see them in 2019 at the Forum i was surprised how you see every age range, from kids to grandparents. and we all knew what to do at certain parts of all the songs. they are not for everybody and i am find with that. lot of us have seen them grow up so we kind of have them as nieces and are protective of them if they get disrespected.
I bought my first Black Sabbath in 1970, I've lived through half a century of Pop Rock Metal, this year I'm 70, I only listen to Babymetal and it's the only band I've ever bought a T-shirt from...Now, whether you like it or not, there's no need to beat about the bush and fuck flies.
I'm just 34 and can completely understand this. Never ordered a band shirt (bought three at three concerts though, as memory) but after encountering Babymetal I just felt like I had to support them. They deserve any support and success in the world. 🤟🦊🤟キツネだお🤟🦊🤟
I had to be 58 years old to stumble into the foxhole. I love these three girls. In November I went to their concert in Munich. Pure energy from the first to the last second. Including mosh pit and crowd surfers... Last year they gave 94 concerts, five of them in Germany. Have a good time kitsunes 🦊🤘🎌
I'm 34 and am a Metalhead all my life. With Babymetal it was the first time in my life that it felt like I finally hear some NEW and fresh metal, I felt immediately in love with them. I read the ingredients first and thought I will completely hate it and it's impossible that it'll work, turned out they proved my wrong in the first seconds. I love everything about them, the queens, the band and the whole staff behind it is top notch at their parts, was on many concerts, never saw anything close to what Babymetal pulls out. The most unique and fascinating band humanity has. 🤟🦊🤟キツネだお🤟🦊🤟
57 here. They bring thier heart and souls to every cencert. They bring the feels, there something about them that just reaches inside you. I was hooked when i found them on youtube years ago. They never disappoint, they always make you feel good. As much as other have put them down when they first started, those people dont know where they came from (SG), how they matured to became what they are, a unique legendary metal band. they'd payed their dues. Plus they played with the best metal bands out there. BABYMETAL FORVER 🤘🤘🤘
I can't tell you a lot about BMTH. Babymetal is a song and dance unit backed by a band. Formed in 2010 by a long-time metalhead producer (Kei Kobayashi, a.k.a Kobametal) who felt that the metal genre was aging and dying, especially in Japan and needed an injection of fresh blood. He built his experimental metal project around the vocals and stage presence of then 12 year old Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal) and paired up 11 year olds Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) and Moa Kikuchi (Moametal) to fill out the dance elements. Together they created a new sub-genre called Kawaii (cute) metal. They started with almost no financial support from their parent company, A!Muse and had to borrow clothes for costumes, perform in strip malls and small food court stages reserved.normally for magic acts and such. The could not afford a backing band either. In early videos you will see guys in skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments over backing tracks. As they gained popularity, A!Muse took notice and started funding them and they were able to phase in the live Kami (spirits/gods) Band at live shows. Yui left the group in 2018 due to undisclosed health issues. Su and Moa continued as a duo with rotating dancers performing the choreography (no mics, they didn't sing) in Yui's spot. In April 2023, one of these dancers, Momoko Okazaki (Momometal) became the official third member. The show this video was recorded at was the 4 day NEX_FEST hosted byand headlined by BMTH. Babymetal performed their own set all 4 nights and then would come back out during BMTH's set to perform Kingslayer. To learn how they came to record Kingslayer, there is a short documentary video on TH-cam titled "Road to Kingslayer". To get the indepth information on Babymetal, there is "Everything you need to know about Babymetal - A Babymetal Guide Updated" by Cryptic Misery. It runs about 40 minutes (there is also a shorter version, but the longer one is better). A couple of recommendations are: "Headbangeeer!!!! Live at Legend 1997" (2013 show celebrating Suzuka's 16th birthday) "Road of Resistance Live in Japan" Official MV. "Ijime, Dame, Zettaii" live at Sonisphere 2014 "Rondo of Nightmare w/Mischief of Metal Gods Intro" "Distortion" live at Download 2018 KITSUNE DA O! 🤘🦊🤘
Great reaction. Thx for the upload. To answer your question, I'm 34 & have been a fan of *BABYMETAL* since 2018 On another note, I find it kind of funny whenever somebody shitting on *BABYMETAL,* tries to justify their hate by stating: "they don't play their own instruments". 🙄 That's what the *Kamiband* is for. And they're all highly skilled, world class musicians. So, the fact that the girls don't play the music, is completely irrelevant. BUT, if we're going to use the hater's logic, then surely they must keep that same energy when it comes to any & all of the countless other bands, who's lead vocalists don't play an instrument. They don't even dance, either. So, tbh that's a *1up* for the *BABYMETAL* girls. 🤘🏻😏
BMTH is a band that started in 2004 in the Deathcore scene actually but with time they slowly graduadet towards more "mainstream" genres, they are pretty awesome because they were able to completely reinvent themselves and held the course for so long that the old fans finally thought alright they are gonna end up in Pop but then they started combining EVERYTHING they did in the past except for a straight deathcore song. Their album Sempiternal is regarded as one of the greatest metalcore albums ever as it made "mainstream" listeners as well as gatekeepers of the metalcommunity happy. The album AMO was full on experimental in a pop style and Post Human (the album Kingslayer is on) was their latest album and shifted again, it's insane what range this band has. They met Babymetal in 2015 i think when they just started to tour outside of Japan, at the time they were still minors and Oli (lead of BMTH) saw them excited but also nervous in the backstage of a festival so they apparently took them under their wing when they met in the west. over time they were seen at each others gigs, etc. and in 2019 Babymetal invited BMTH to play with them during their World Tour when they were in Japan. Then 2020 they released this song after a previous collab didn't quite met their expectations and didn't get released. Now 2023 BMTH organized a festival in Japan and of course their first invite was Babymetal
I think you should just enjoy it without too much thinking, being on the same level. It doesn't matter whether you know or knew BabyMetal. They are excellent artists. I love it.
54, seen them twice in concert. Used to just listen to Rob Zombie and the like. Now fully obsessed and committed to Babymetal and the One. They don't fit in a box. That's not their fault....🤘🎶

Ages and gender example: The Five Fox Festival in Japan was a captivating concert tour by the Japanese band Babymetal. It took place from July 18, 2017, to October 15, 2017. (1) Black Fox Festival: This event was exclusively for males. (2) Red Fox Festival: Reserved for females only. (3) Silver Fox Festival: This festival was open to two distinct age groups: elementary school children or younger, and adults aged 60 and above. Quite an unusual combination! (4) & (5) other requirements.
👍 👍 BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old. All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. In the beginning Amuse showed little interest and the girls had minimal financing. They performed at strip malls and small venues borrowing clothes for shows from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They quickly became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to HQ pro shot videos of LIVE performances instead of official MV's (the reason is that the vast majority of MV's use studio audio over LIVE footage AND without the awesome Kami Band instrumentals) They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more. Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.) Suggest reacting to these HQ Pro Shot videos of LIVE performances for a start. Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles. Good luck and hope to see you again.
I liked that comment about BM doing live music videos. It is a show and their job is to hype up the crowd and get them involved, its why there are so many callbacks in their songs for the audience to participate. I would say a lot of their songs are written with the intention of how they will be live. I don’t like bands that just get up there and play their songs, I could stay home, skip the crowd, and get the same thing. I want the show. If you did another one I suggest “Monochrome at the Pia Area”, Yava or Syncopation.

34 here, been listening for a full year almost non stop, keep listening...I absolutely disliked gimme chocolate when I first started listening, but its honestly one of my favorites now
35. Just seen BMTH on the UK tour was great to see them perform Kingslayer and the show they put on is awesome. I recommend BMTH - Parasite Eve LIVE Highfield Festival 2022 Babymetal - Rondo of Nightmare Mischiefs of Metal Gods Intro LIVE at Budokan Black Night 🤘🦊🤘
Babymetal is a whole performance, not just a song. Some of their productions are off the charts. An example of how the stage works with the song as a performance would be From Dusk Till Dawn from at Budokan 2021.
Welcome back, it's been a while. It would have been cool if you react to a new BM song instead of the same track you already heard. The age range, gender and demographics of this group is really large, there are very few groups like them gathering fans of different genres all over the world, so trust me when i said, you'll be surprised at live concerts when watching fans from all over the world going to see them. Next suggestion: - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official MV. - Megitsune official MV. See you next time 🦊🤘🔥
Nope Su is not a dancer by herself. Their name is a slight job on the Name heavy metal in japanese the difference to Babymetal is slight. And in this concert they use the BMTH Band. Because in this song Oli prepared the music and his vocales and he knew what Su would deliver and here Moa added her Choreo. They had minutes before their own concerts and then rushed over. And since BMHT organiced this festival they had all necessary time controls and Keys so that Babymetal could rush over. She started this moving with her singing in Babymetal. Moa and Momo don't play, they take care of dancing background singing and crowd reaction, the element that is often overlooked. You might try Road of Resistance, Headbanger or Believing.
It wasn't really "minutes" until babymetal came out since Bring Me The Horizon played this song pretty close to the end of their set. So babymetal did have plenty of time to prepare after their own set.
@@Tyyppl IT isn't as easy as you might think. It has to be after their own concerts but their muscles mustert be cold. Especially Su has slight problems and in fact she had problems when they did it the first time. She simply went out of breath. But Moa reduced her dancing from then on. And I think that part simply overwhelmed Oli after the fourth time, with his remark that it is not the same without Babymetal.
I see where you are coming from . Do they JUST sing and dance ? Do they learn to play instruments to add more to the performance as you say invested in it . Well in short No! They do not play instruments, but they have learned different courography for every single song thats over 60 songs and although they might not perform a song for years will perform it perfectly when required to do so . Think i would say thats very commitment . I do not think you explained it badly just awkwardly( got somethings wrong but hey no ones perfect ) how do you explain BabyMetal? . Easier just to say a Metal vocal and dance unit backed by some excellent musicians. I have been a fan of metal since it started . Discovered BabyMetal about 7 to 8 years ago and i have never been so invested in a band . I have seen many bands but none i have enjoyed as much as BabyMetal they are just amazing performers . They have givin me a new lease in life . If they are in the UK i travel around a 500 mile round trip to see them and que up to 12 hours to get a good spot near the stage and i am 66 in a couple of months . I ended up doing a circuit of the circle pit last time i went to a show ! not by choice 😂 BabyMetals fan base , like BabyMetal themselves you can not pigeon hole. I talked to many people in the que from 16 to 60 . There was a father with his 6 year old daughters on his shoulders at one show and whole families in the seated area . BabyMetal are for everyone all types of people you would not expect to be together as a fan base brought together because of their love of BabyMetal . try Road of Resistance live in Japan or Metali live in Japan . 2 totally different style of songs 😀 sorry for long comment
My own comment will not post so I will say that most of what MartinMetal has said also applies to me. I also wanted to say I don't think you upset anybody first time round at all, most of the comments were simply trying to explain better what BABYMETAL are about and clarifying some of the things you got half right ... it does take some explaining because they are unique and so different to pretty much everything else.
BMTH concert, Babymetal were the guest. "So, they're CUTE metal?" YES!! That's exactly what they call themselves. Kawaii metal. Kawaii = cute. They do not play their own instruments. They are a Metal Dance Unit, not necessarily a band. They use masked session musicians (although we the fans know EXACTLY who they are😂). They have a very convoluted lore involving a Fox God, a Metalverse, and a confusing storyline that no one really takes serious but join in just for fun #notacult I suggest the song Megitsune next. With lyrics if possible. The quintessential Babymetal theme song. But I would also suggest one of their newest ones, METALI, or Divine Attack.
The once great very LOUDEST SCREAMING LIONESS SCREAMING VIOCE LADY! Amada Yuna, just played very perfect performance skills at the very beginning! Way before kingslayers horizon song had ever arrived in Tokyo! By passcode of epicness or passcode band. Play [ Taking you out Tonight! ] Final 2018 tour at zepp Divercity Tokyo. Also its how to perfectly deliver or execute a very beautiful most passionate lovely song note message. The very impressive song is past the two minute mark. A young japanesse lady walks very attractively and sings. Mostly lovely. Very fine, 🙂 very fine, very fine. Then the music plays faster pace of pure lovely perfection of total successful greatnesss of very grand achievements.❤ August 3rd 2021. Amada Yuna very sadly an unfortunately will go into retirement of a poor illness! May her very impressive beautiful achievements live on! 👏 from 2018 to 2021 passcodes very impressive and most beautiful years!😍 The Red head japanesse young inspiring Lady. We all miss you, Imada Yuna! Absolutely 💯 just perfection.🥰 My great inspiring message is out! Have a great fabulous wonderful day.😀
I'm Japanese. Thank for your reaction. BABYMETAL is not metal band but 'METAL DANCE UNIT'(in official).😁 The vocalist is always selected as one of the top rock singers in the world by famous music magazines in the United Kingdom and is called 'Queen' in the metal world. The most important element of any music band is the vocals, isn't it?😁 I think you should conquer Queen's 4 solo songs. 😁 ①Akatsuki ②Rond of nightmare ③No rain no rainbow ④Amore
I am 57 and a fan of Babymetal. The only thing I know of BMTH is this song. Don't worry about what people say in the comments. There are always going to be a couple of them who will jump down your throat for anything but 99.5% of the fans are just fine. They just like Babymetal and want to teach people about them. It's not intended as criticizing your reaction. About the 'cute' question, they did refer to themselves as 'kawaii' metal. Kawaii meaning cute. Cute like puppies or a stuffed animal, not cute like attractive or hot. There was a lot more of the kawaii aspect when they were kids. Now, they still act in the kawaii way when doing their old songs but not as much now. Or it's just done differently now.
Nice review - as you asked I'm 73 and I grew up listening to and enjoying concerts of Hendrix, Zeppelin, Janis Joplin and many more and it's been a while since I have been exited about a band that compares to that great feeling with Babymetal (by the way, baby in Babymetal doesn't refer to the girls, it's a referance to new type of metal - they started back in 2013 as new born metal), anyway I thought I'd mention they do take a bit of getting use to with the contrast at first but the more you listen to them (as they say) you end up going down the fox hole. Su-metal is really a beatuful singer (even when she was 15 in the early start of the band. When ever I want to lift my spirit up I listen to Babymetal - They have a WIDE variety of songs and all of them are great and yes they sound better live than they do on their videos or albums. There's so many good songs they've done that it's hard to pick just one favorite, in fact my favorite song is constantly changing with them. Give them a try with an open mind and remember that most of the earlier songs are for the Japanese growed (different culture) so bear that in mind when trying to figure out what the meaning behind the song is. I can say now that I am really a big fan of Babumetal and I can't wait to see what they come up with next. I hope you enjoy the ride if you dare.
Im watching a train wreck.....It's the Blind leading the blind....LoL!!! Babymetal do not play their own instruments, they don't change costume during a concert, but yes, they are Singer/dancers but there is no "JUST" in there!! Only the girls are "Officially" Babymetal but they have a Fantastic Backing Band called the Kami Band. Think of the girls as the Frontman/singer of any Band...thats their job, to sing and dance out front. The most correct info departed here was about how big the Babymetal productions can be!! You guys just need to see more...you will be Amazed!! More Babymetal Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po! (I don't suggest songs cause they are all Fantastic!! But I do prefer Live!)
Nice reaction. You should take a look at BABYMETAL Road of Resistance - Live in Japan. it's a mind blowing video. Just remember to pause the video three to four times. it's heavily blocked
58. Discovered them in early 2014 on TH-cam random suggested videos. Instantly fell in love. Watched EVERYTHING they had and immediately vowed to see them live at least once. I've now seen them over 25 times. Have a crazy collection of memorabilia and T-shirts. And even traveled to Japan for them. Hooked for life. #notacult
👍If any performance between two bands gets better than this, I could not survive it. Pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!! Love, love Su's vocals here, and I also enjoy the original with her more processed vocals as well. BABYMETAL fans range in age from 9 to 90. 🦊 🖖❤
This live event is was actually a BMTH event called Next_Fest with several bands playing including Baby Metal, Yungblud and about a half dozen other performers, in all four shows that took place all in Japan. up until this time BMTH and Baby Metal had never played this song live together over the last three years since it's release in 2020. Although it was not announced they would be preforming it together most though they would. this song was actually the encore of the BMTH set. In my opinion I prefer this to the studio version. If you want to understand Baby Metal music which is described by many as Kawaii Metal, You should listen to the songs Give me Chocolate, Papa Yaya and Death
40, US, Babymetal fan. I’m not a fan of pop and country. Corrections: Babymetal is the 3 girls who sing and dance. THEY DO NOT PLAY instruments. They are backed by a world-tier session band, Kami Band for all live. Cute metal? Yes and no, more when they were younger. But: collab with Tom Morello, Dragonforce, Polyphia, Joakim of Sabaton, covered Judas Priest with Rob Halford on stage, and made a song so technical and prog, Mike Portnoy gave them his thumbs up. If you only watch 1 Babymetal song, then THE song is: *Road of Resistance (Official Live):* Only then, you will understand what Babymetal is truly about. I'm sorry if people were upset, you are of course entitled to your opinions, and there wasn't anything genuinely disrespectful. Us fans are just passionate lol. I hope you check them out further, they've been a wonderful musical experience! 🤘🦊
Hi. I’m 60 and a huge fan since about 2015. BABYMETAL are the real deal. I flew from Australia to Japan in 2016 to witness the epic Tokyo Dome concert(s) and the two nights were the best live performances I’ve ever seen. Perfection is only barely enough for BABYMETAL. 🤟🏻🤟🏻
I don’t know what shit you got for the last video, but BABYMETAL fans are usually a pretty friendly bunch. But this band has gotten a lot of hatred over the years for „not being real“, so some of us might be a little too sensitive. I think it’s easy to use the term „musician“ too restrictively, causing misunderstandings. A person playing an instrument is (usually) a musician, but so are singers, dancers and composers. I guess few people would say that a member of an orchestra is not a musician for not writing their own music. Likewise, AFAIK, Richard Wagner rarely ever performed his compositions himself, yet nobody would say that he wasn’t a musician. Hence, when I talk about BABYMETAL‘s supporting band, I tend to use the term instrumentalists, even though it may sound a bit uncommon. That being said, only the three girls are officially marketed as BABYMETAL, so it’s technically correct that BABYMETAL are not playing the instruments themselves. The instrumentalists are session musicians and supposed to remain as anonymous as possible (which didn’t work out very well, and many fans are glad it didn’t). On the other hand, the members of the backing band have been pretty consistent over the last ten years (apart from the fact that a few years ago, a second line-up of Western musicians was added), so in reality it’s mostly semantics. The most important thing for me when watching your videos is that the performance makes you smile, and that’s what counts. AFAIK, this festival was organized by BMTH, and both bands played separate sets. For this song, BM were a guest during BMTH‘s set.
63 and utterly obsessed with them - they change things up every single track, furious energy and astonishing levels of talent from the whole crew - right down to the choreograpy, staging, lighting, the band etc. It is a VERY visual group (I WATCH them rather than just listen to them). Great reaction and more pls. Me - I like Kagerou (with intro) or Monochrome, or Headbanger (97 is my favourite - but bearing in mind the "audience" they may seem a little young for him to accept?).
Lol “Do they JUST sing and dance?” You mean, just like the most lead singers in bands. Except they usually don't dance in sync. You don't say that about (in this case) Oli Sykes. Why?
I don't think people mean it in a bad way when they say just dance. Even I say that sometimes and I'm a huge babymetal fan. Saying it that way is just the easiest way to find out if they play instruments or not.
@@Tyyppl But why is a distinction made between, for example, Oli and Su? It is not asked whether Oli only sings, or whether he also plays an instrument. Besides that, singing is also a kind of instrument in my experience. In other words, it shouldn't be a question. On stage it is clear that the ladies of Babymetal are singing and dancing, just as it is clear that Oli is singing and that they are not playing any instruments.
@@mailbube Well this time for example it's a pretty reasonable question to ask about babymetal since we don't see the kami band since obviously it's bring me the horizon playing the instruments. So when you only see the girls it's pretty normal to wonder who plays the instruments for them. For example pretty much no one asks that question if they react to Rondo of Nightmare with the kami intro because you can clearly see who is playing the instruments.
@@Tyyppl Yes, maybe you're right this time. This performance is an exception because Babymetal is a guest, but this is of course not the only time this question is asked during a Babymetal performance.
Let's face it guy's, this is the future. Gone are the days when you go to a concert to hear people stand there and play the same music I can listen to on my system at home. The show of the future is when you feel like you're lucky enough to have been invited to a once in a lifetime party by some of the coolest people you've ever heard of... you're attending a life changing event and you're now able to check it off you bucket list. A BabyMetal show, is just that sort of event.
I'm 22, little younger than the girls (except Momoko). But my musical preferences aren't quite standard for my generation. I admire Rammstein (my favourite band ever), Metallica, Marilyn Manson, Deep Purple, Queen, Creedence, Aerosmith, Guns 'n' Roses, Slipknot, Skillet, Placebo, Lindemann (and solo albums of Till Lindemann as well, which is not the same), Scorpions, Emigrate, Powerwolf, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and especially Ozzy as a solo artist, Cream, Sex Pistols, AC/DC, Accept, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Iron Maiden, Pain, Iggy Pop so on. There are much more, but I guess this list is quite representative. I discovered Babymetal just a year ago, but they already have become my second favourite band after Rammstein. And yeah, that's one of the very few bands, whose performance I want to attend at least once.
He was right on the money with “cute metal” BabyMetal is definitely considered Kawaii Metal, it’s their thing. But I hate how people generally disrespect and disregard their talent because they aren’t like traditional Metal artists. I will say though, the girls started young (10-12). So they weren’t as involved with the writing and music compared to now. They’ve also said themselves that the band caused them to actually listen to Metal music and now they enjoy it! I think that’s the fun part. It started off as a very manufactured thing that even the company wasn’t sure would work and turned into genuine love for what they make and one of the biggest groups in Japan. It’s actually beautiful when you notice how Su’s vocals have adapted and matured over the years and they LOVE meeting other artists. I’m sure the hate they got was a lot considering they would’ve been teenager girls in an already male dominated field. That being said though, BabyMetal has definitely introduced a lot more women and girls to metal along with diversity. I’ve met so many people into BabyMetal that were more like me that led to us being able to find solidarity with each other for other artists!
In general, Babymetal's fan base is very receptive, but because they love them so much, sometimes some end up acting like a toxic and possessive boyfriend. It's okay to have your preferences and listen to what you guys like it, but if you really want to give it a chance to go deeper, I recommend the song Road of Resistance.
Totally agree BM fans are very receptive with the critics, unlike some other Japanese female band fans who likes to spread shit here and there even if no one is talking about them, but i don't think is the best example saying fans act like a toxic and possessive bf, usually it's more like a father or a family defending their daughters or relatives, many fans know them since they were toddlers or teenagers when the project started. I second the suggestion Road Of Resistance live in Japan official MV (2015).🦊🤘
@@jakemuller8626 I chose this comparison because it is not just related to criticism. There are many cases of fans being exaggeratedly angry because of the reaction to a "wrong" performance. Obviously not everyone is like that, because there is a difference between true love and obsession. Furthermore, I thought they tried to be as respectful as possible, both with the girls and the fans, which is why I found some comments in the previous reaction a bit exaggerated.
@@Rawlinson777 Sure, I agree there are many type of fans but I was pointed out you did a comparison with just one type when talking about in general, it would have been more accurate to say the example I gave you to talk in general, bc the "toxic" tag it is more towards the gatekeepers or fans who get mad just because the reactor is watching a wrong suggestion, an MV instead of a live, a one off version instead of the original, if Yui is in it or not, etcetera. I'm not sure about exaggerated comments in previous reaction but when reactors act and talk so skeptical like this one (on the left) maybe fans try really hard to get around his logic and mindset, so far I saw no one disrespecting them bc they didn't with the girls. Have a nice day.
You want to know more about Babymetal and the Kami band watch "Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live" ( the Kami band intro shows the band members solos...some of their songs are cute and can ruin the song imo, but they have tons of serious songs which sound great instrumentals and vocals). Watch the Music Video Megitsune (their best older song + helps explain the Fox theme too, closet song to Kingslayer too with the EDM + metal + catchy vocals, skip gimmie chocolate) Or watch something from their new album... monochrome live or Maya live Your gonna get a lot of recommendations for Road of Resistance live in Japan and headbanger, great live shows, but there's gonna be portions of the song where I don't think your going to like if your more on the traditional heavy metal side. But still worth reacting just b/c the crowds!
If this is going to be a long story, you'll have to finish listening to all of it, because if you don't like babymetal, I can't give you the thumbs up.
I must have missed the first reaction. Sorry you got shit in the comments. BabyMetal is difficult to wrap your head around at first. XD THey are literally cute metal, having pioneered the genre of Kawaii Metal, but as they've gotten older, the cute element is less cutesy. They are a performance group. And they are good. And that's all that really matters. Also, 42yo here. And this is maybe my favorite collab ever.
Babymetal is designed for live perfomances, that is ther forte. Best way to understand BM is remember Su-metal's advice "Don't think, Just feel" A Babymetal concert is a stage show and the three ladies are the perrormers. Their supporting cast is the Kami band. Just like a stage play, the music, lyrics, choregraphy, customes, stage design, lighting, etc. are designed by world-class artists. The producer, Koba-metal, oversees the operation. The ladies have input and adjustments made accordingly. Recommendations: Road of Resistence, Live in Japan Megitsume at Budokan 2021 Monochrome, PIA Areana, Clear Night ijime Dame Zettai, Sonisphere 2014
Babymetal do not play their own instruments although Moametal backing vocals and dance does play some guitar but not within the group but yes they do have a phenomenal backing band this is from a 4 day touring festival that Bring me the horizon did in Japan the first two days in Tokyo Japan then Nagoya and Osaka Babymetal played their own set earlier and bring me the horizon headlined and this was the last song they did with Babymetal coming out to join them
I’m a 53 year old rock music lover from Australia and I discovered Babymetal during our lengthy COVID lockdowns and the fun they brought to the music scene gave me so much excitement. I’ve seen hundreds of bands live, both internationally and domestic and I have to say that the recent BM show I saw last year was the most enjoyable I have ever attended. Most bands sound fine live but are pretty dull to watch. The huge appeal for BM is that they are different, so don’t go in thinking that they aren’t like your traditional band, that’s the whole fxxking point. Yes, they are manufactured and highly produced but they do it so well. Their music is great and covers so many genres, their backing band are from another planet good, and the girls are polished, rehearsed and entirely engaging live. Their early music was happy metal and their more recent stuff is a little more sombre but hopeful. Also, don’t dismiss the two dancers , they are amazing singers in their own right but given their warmer tones, would probably struggle to fight over the sound of the band. No one is saying that you have to love BabyMetal, they are not for everyone but check out the music videos for Megitsune or Karate but the rest should be live performances. There are some stand out performances that are key to their development, namely Road of Resistance (live in Japan), IDZ in 2014 Sonisphere performance and I’ll throw in Headbanger from their Legend 1997 show (birth year of the singer). If you can get through all of that and you think you can handle complex, technical music, try Tales of the Destinies from the 2016 Tokyo Dome show and tell me these girls aren’t talented.
Nice reaction guys, and thanks for giving it another listen! I appreciate that you are very much looking to give a balanced, honest opinion...kudos! I "discovered" Babymetal in 2018, and it got me back interested in Metal, to which I have listened to since the 70's. I am now 61, and this band has gotten me back into Metal music. I love the contrast, diversity, energy and music. Love or hate them, they have been an influence in Metal since 2010 and have the support of many big name bands/artists in the Metal scene. My suggestion (and probably many others), would be to check out "Road of Resistance - Live in Japan" th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.html. The show is from 2015 (I believe). They kill it every time!
Guys - Babymetal have been going for 13 years ( and the lead singer Su-Metal is still only 26 ! ) . In that time they have either opened for , toured with or collaborated with bands like - Metallica , GunsN'Roses , RHCP , Korn , Sabaton , Rob Halford ( Judas Priest ) , Tom Morello , BMTH to name but a few . All this is in addition to their own World tours and shows which are always sold out and they regularly play to crowds of 20,000 - 30,000 not to mention being invited to some of the biggest Metal Festivals in the world - these ladies have earned the respect in which they are held by their peers . Babymetal IS the 3 girls and their backing band ( they have 2 ) is either the Kami Band or the Western Kami Band depending where they are playing - all of them are TOP class musicians .
I'm a diehard Babymetal fan. I'm 47 from Australia, since you were asking about their audience demographics. But when you go to their live shows, you will see everyone from toddlers with their parents, through to senior citizens; Babymetal's audience is all ages and world wide. This performance took place at NEX_FEST which was a festival in Japan hosted by Bring Me The Horizon in November last year. The song Kingslayer is one of BMTH's so the performance was part of their set and Babymetal came out to perform it with them after they had finished their own set earlier in the evening. To clarify a couple of points of confusion, Babymetal aren't a band in the strictest sense of the word. They are a group that comes from the Japanese idol music culture, which means they are more like a K-pop group than a normal band. They refer to themselves as a "metal dance unit", which is about as good a description as any. The do NOT play their own instruments; they are singers and dancers. When they perform live, they have a backing band called the Kami Band (God/Spirit Band) made up of top tier professional session musicians. The kind of performances they do at their headline shows straddle the line between rock concert and theatrical production and is a big part of what they are known for. We always recommend to watch their live performances because Babymetal is in their element when they are on a big stage interacting with a live audience. The group is the creation of their producer/manager Kobametal, who is an executive at their management company Amuse Inc., which is the largest talent management agency in Japan. He has overseen their entire 13+ year career and remains to this day the creative architect of the whole act. Babymetal also have a whole team of support people who contribute to making their theatrical stage shows possible who are known collectively as Team Babymeta,l that comprises song writers, a choreographer, costume designers, and all manner of production staff. A Babymetal performance is the result of the work of many talented people. The following are a few of suggestions of Babymetal performances from across their career that give a good sense of what they are about: Ijime Dame Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014 - th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html Road of Resistance - Live at Legend 2015- th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.html Karate - Live at Download 2016 - th-cam.com/video/qXF94RGYEmw/w-d-xo.html Pa Pa Ya!! - Live at BABYMETAL AWAKENS: THE SUN ALSO RISES 2019- th-cam.com/video/j246TQ5pBcQ/w-d-xo.html Karate - Live at 10 Babymetal Budokan 2021 - th-cam.com/video/uOS40J3fg-I/w-d-xo.html Metal Kingdom - Live at PIA Arena 2023 - th-cam.com/video/xd-lswJ2e3k/w-d-xo.html #notacult
I’m 63 and I have been a fan of their form 2016 same time I came a fan of Blackpink an all girl South Korean K-pop group of one of the best in the world
Just so you know, Babymetal doesn't refer to the ladies ages. Baby sounds like Heavy to the Japanese and is a play on words, this happens a lot. Babymetal death is a song they use a lot to open shows and 'Death' sounds like 'Desu', this is used as a cute way to introduce themselves. As others have stated Kingslayer is a BMTH song, Babymetal are the guests and had their own set to do at this event.
This is a collaboration because years ago BabyMetal took Bring me the Horizon on the Asian leg of their tour. Playing every night to the huge 20, 30 and 40 thousand BabyMetal fans at their shows blew up BMTH's popularity in the Asian Market. So BMTH just had to have BabyMetal on one of their songs. Took some time to work it out, and it took another couple of years before BMTH and BabyMetall were in the same place, at the same time, so that they can be both on stage to perform this song live.
LMFAO... wtf guys that look both of you gave @1:58 was frickin classic... im 57.. been a fan of BM 2014 or 15.. hell i forgot i am to old to remember shit like that.. but my first live, was them opening for Korn in San Diego Ca think it was 2017.. ehh
They invented a genre called kawaii metal or cute metal. They were at a festival where they both performed but, Babymetal came out during BMTH set as it is their song. The girls front a band just like Ozzy, Alice Cooper, and such. They were girls in the idol industry so playing instruments was not part of their skill set. They have fully embraced metal and have shared the stage with the biggest bands in metal history. They are theatrical like kiss or meatloaf. I'm 48 and absolutely love them. Most old people can't stand the bland hateful boredom that metal has become after the grudge error took the fun out of music. A lot of metal in the seventies and eighties was having fun, except for Bruce Dickinsin's self-righteous ass. So us older people like the fun they bring. If your mind goes to perversion, that's more of a you thing. Babymetal has suffered the loss of a true guitar legend to a tragic accident and the loss of a crucial member due to things out of their control and yet has trudged on through naysayers and doubters to be one of the best bands in the world. All of this before they were 21 years old. They don't have one love song in their repertoire, Sis Anger being the closest thing to one and it's not a nice one. It's like Bruno Kirby said in Spinal Tap, " When you've loved and lost like Frank(Babymetal) has, you know what real life is about."
74 yrs. old. 🦊🦊🦊

Then the music plays faster pace of pure lovely perfection of total successful greatnesss of very grand achievements. Which song is the impressive beautiful made song! Make your greatest judgment? During the 2018 "Taking you out, the very impressive concert event"! My great inspiring message is out! Have a great fabulous wonderful day.😀😊
im 41 and fell in love with Babymetal the first time i heard and saw them. Their crowd control and stage presence is top tier. I understand when people arent into this type of music and skeptical to being with. and to answer your question they are considered Kawaii metal, kawaii means Cute so you were spot on when you said are they cute metal
The lead singer Su-Metal actually trains her vocals while running on a treadmill
That’s an awesome thing about music. We both hell all of us can relate for sure. We will look into some more.
Just to satisfy your curiosity Im 26 :)
The boy with the Yuyu hakusho t-shirt understood it immediately, BM are in fact cute metal, they invented the genre and it is a mix of idol jpop with metal.
Thank you lol, I (Dustin) just have questions some appear to not like me saying cute metal lmao!!
I am 66 years old. This song is fucken amazeballs

I had to be 58 years old to stumble into the foxhole. I love these three girls. In November I went to their concert in Munich. Pure energy from the first to the last second.

As much as other have put them down when they first started, those people dont know where they came from (SG), how they matured to became what they are, a unique legendary metal band. they'd payed their dues. Plus they played with the best metal bands out there.
BABYMETAL FORVER
🤘🤘🤘
A couple of recommendations are:
"Headbangeeer!!!! Live at Legend 1997" (2013 show celebrating Suzuka's 16th birthday)
"Road of Resistance Live in Japan" Official MV.
"Ijime, Dame, Zettaii" live at Sonisphere 2014

Cryptic Misery's video is really good, would do a great reaction.
Great reaction. Thx for the upload. To answer your question, I'm 34 & have been a fan of *BABYMETAL* since 2018
On another note, I find it kind of funny whenever somebody shitting on *BABYMETAL,* tries to justify their hate by stating: "they don't play their own instruments".

BABYMETAL - 「Monochrome」 Live at PIA Arena [Subtitled] [HQ]
The only way to know what BABYMETAL do and if you like them is to actually watch BABYMETAL (ideally live performances). 😁
46, lifelong metalhead here.
👍 👍
BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno.
If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to HQ pro shot videos of LIVE performances instead of official MV's (the reason is that the vast majority of MV's use studio audio over LIVE footage AND without the awesome Kami Band instrumentals)
They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.)
Suggest reacting to these HQ Pro Shot videos of LIVE performances for a start.

Yui Mizuno left BabyMetal in 2018 due to health reasons and at their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019 after Yui's departure) has officially become the third member.

BabyMetal is legit, they also know how to play a crowd as another instrument in their shows.
35. Just seen BMTH on the UK tour was great to see them perform Kingslayer and the show they put on is awesome.

Next suggestion:
- Road Of Resistance live in Japan official MV.
I ended up doing a circuit of the circle pit last time i went to a show ! not by choice 😂
BabyMetals fan base , like BabyMetal themselves you can not pigeon hole.
@Grington300 your approval is welcome and appreciated 😃
PS my emoji are not working properly 😢
@@martinmetal7481 I could live with dodgy emojis, not being able to post a comment is really frustrating.😠

@@martinmetal7481 Thanks, I tried to cut it down and all sorts, but no joy.😢
BMTH concert, Babymetal were the guest.
"So, they're CUTE metal?" YES!! That's exactly what they call themselves. Kawaii metal. Kawaii = cute. They do not play their own instruments. They are a Metal Dance Unit, not necessarily a band. They use masked session musicians (although we the fans know EXACTLY who they are😂). They have a very convoluted lore involving a Fox God, a Metalverse, and a confusing storyline that no one really takes serious but join in just for fun #notacult
I suggest the song Megitsune next. With lyrics if possible. The quintessential Babymetal theme song. But I would also suggest one of their newest ones, METALI, or Divine Attack.
Glad to see some comments not taking it as a hate remark. We shall see we are going through the comments and making a list.

BABYMETAL is not metal band but 'METAL DANCE UNIT'(in official).😁
The vocalist is always selected as one of the top rock singers in the world by famous music magazines in the United Kingdom and is called 'Queen' in the metal world.
The most important element of any music band is the vocals, isn't it?😁
I think you should conquer Queen's 4 solo songs. 😁

We intend to as we do everything we are unsure of. Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed.

If you only watch 1 Babymetal song, then THE song is:
*Road of Resistance (Official Live):*
Only then, you will understand what Babymetal is truly about.
I'm sorry if people were upset, you are of course entitled to your opinions, and there wasn't anything genuinely disrespectful. Us fans are just passionate lol. I hope you check them out further, they've been a wonderful musical experience!

47, knew the girls since 2014... they are daughters to me and I'm a proud father
61, you need to watch more of their videos, Papaya, Headbanger,IIne, Death, and so many more..
We Got One Coming Up Tomorrow!
26 year old fan of both BabyMetal and BMTH! From the UK!
71 y o
63 and utterly obsessed with them - they change things up every single track, furious energy and astonishing levels of talent from the whole crew - right down to the choreograpy, staging, lighting, the band etc. It is a VERY visual group (I WATCH them rather than just listen to them). Great reaction and more pls. Me - I like Kagerou (with intro) or Monochrome, or Headbanger (97 is my favourite - but bearing in mind the "audience" they may seem a little young for him to accept?).
That's very interesting lol I just have to ask questions is all (left cheek)
👍👍👍 l love baby metal😄🤟 thank you❣️
Thank you as well, Be sure to check for more coming soon!
Thank you! FINALLY, somebody other than just me is pointing out the hypocrisy. lol Hater's own logic debunks itself.
A BabyMetal show, is just that sort of event.
you should watch some good ones like rondo of nightmare, headbanger, road of resistance, Death, Akatsuki (live of course)
We shall see stay tuned thanks for not taking our conversation to the extreme lol!
Dad 56,mom 54, I am 19 enjoyed the concert together ❤️
Thank you for that! We will check that one out
Totally agree BM fans are very receptive with the critics, unlike some other Japanese female band fans who likes to spread shit here and there even if no one is talking about them, but i don't think is the best example saying fans act like a toxic and possessive bf, usually it's more like a father or a family defending their daughters or relatives, many fans know them since they were toddlers or teenagers when the project started.
I'm 37 years old and my daughter 8. WE are Babymetal fans and WE are see the band in London and Paris last years

Watch the Music Video Megitsune (their best older song + helps explain the Fox theme too, closet song to Kingslayer too with the EDM + metal + catchy vocals, skip gimmie chocolate)
Or watch something from their new album... monochrome live or Maya live
Your gonna get a lot of recommendations for Road of Resistance live in Japan and headbanger, great live shows, but there's gonna be portions of the song where I don't think your going to like if your more on the traditional heavy metal side.

A Babymetal concert is a stage show and the three ladies are the perrormers. Their supporting cast is the Kami band. Just like a stage play, the music, lyrics, choregraphy, customes, stage design, lighting, etc. are designed by world-class artists. The producer, Koba-metal, oversees the operation. The ladies have input and adjustments made accordingly.

@@TheWholeAzzShow i’ve subscribed to you guys ,and hope to see more bmth in the future . Keep up the good work
I'm a diehard Babymetal fan.
The following are a few of suggestions of Babymetal performances from across their career that give a good sense of what they are about:

Babymetal is legend.
BMxBmth👌👌
This is a very american review.
I don't know how that is suppose to be taken...Thank you for watching.

It's not about accepting it, these guys should say good things.I like it.
Baby Metal is a ridiculous experience live, definitely recommend Distortion or Monochrome
