The first time I encountered the legion in NV was at the "lottery". I was 12, I think. I was terrified seeing all of thosed individuals lashed to crosses and others burning alive. The one dude who had his legs broken with hammers. It was horrifying. I turned off the game in shock and fear when I saw the legion mongrels walking towards me at the town hall.
He describes it the same way southern slave owners would justify enslaving a"savage" people; that it gave them purpose or that it somehow raised them up. I was always curious about a legion victory because as Caesar says it would change the Legion just as the Legion would change the NCR. Does that mean it would abandon slavery? for the legion to completely hold the NCR means a lot of land and a lot of people. Overall more educated people that denounce slavery as an institution... its a shame we never got FNV 2
@@Tester-kq8zd not really. Caesar justifies his actions with amoral pragmatism. Slavery isn't about "enlightenment", it is about production, which does build civilisation.
Wrll it is some sense synthesis. I think that common ground between both cultures' ideas will be utilized in order to promote a path of least resistance. That would be optimal dialectics. @@tprime2702 I'm not so sure. The NCR seems to be more egalitarian (somehow) than the United States they try to emulate. Women take a much more active role in basically every aspect of their government, military, and civilian industries. Take Tandi for example, a woman president so popular she ran unopposed for 52 years.
It is funny, that Caesar unintentionally copied the homework of the Followers' greatest enemy: The Master. God-King figure at the very top; body of warriors, with their pre-conversion identity stripped away and erased; use of spies and agents of influence; and anyone outside of the group is basically expendable. Unity at any cost. Like Universal Unity before it, the Legion will break into warbands under command of former lieutenants. Only Richard was able to (potentially) see the error of his ways in the end, and some of his followers, like Marcus, were able to build functioning communities, based on ideas of the Unity. Not likely something like that would happen to Legion, though. Only bullet (or laser, or plasma bolt) or tumor would make Caesar stop.
Historically, slavery was humane and good because it replaced human sacrifice. Instead of being captured to be killed in a ritual, you were captured and given a job.. and most societies, for instance the vikings, if you contributed to the community, they would remove your slave status and make you a member of the village. the Ottoman Empire ruined it for everyone because they started enslaving christians just to castrate them
😐 I mean even slaves in Rome could free themselves. And as much as forced labour disgusts me, I'd rather be enslaved than killed if those are my last options. I wonder how the NCR treats tribes.

Bethesda: "you wouldn't get it" *attacks*
Thanks Emil Pagliarulo
Yeah, story in this game is so much better then anything made by Bethesda.

Ceasar is stupid though. That's the irony. He's a strongman who prefers force and always takes the first option available
