    I am currently riding my second S1000XR model 2022 M Package and between the two I have done about 65.000 km.
    Never once did I feel any need for earplugs.
    My bike has the same windshield as yours, tinted version.
    Perhaps my helmet muffles the sound sufficiently, it is a Shoei Neotec II.
    I found my bike's seat very comfortable and can easily sit on it for hours without any discomfort whatsoever, and I'm just as tall as you are.
    I can't say that my bike is wobbly and found that to be an astonishing remark.
    Make sure you get the suspension settings correctly sorted out.
    You can open the tank's cap when you switch off the ignition, i.e. press the black button.

    I had an XR, 2016 model, was a beast, took wife and I to Spain 2up loaded to max capacity. It never missed a beat, was comfortable and fast. Set cruise control on nice clear and great condition Spanish roads and it ate the miles. Also took on track at Donnington, wasn’t quite same as sport bike due to size and geometry but was still awesome. Had it on track setting, most enjoyable. I was going to fast way to easily on the road so to keep me out of prison I chopped it in for an R9T, also a very good bike but in a different way.

    Thanks for these mate, do you have any tips for reducing wind noise on motorbike cams so you can get a nice engine sound minus the white noise? I have a ghost xl drift and tried plsying with microphone sensitivity, maybe its just the camera ..

    I've noticed that many lightweight engines make more noise when running at lower revs in particular, less material to absorb noise I suppose.

    The difference is that you wouldn't want to rider the R all year round. It's a summer toy. Whereas the XR is the versatile machine and can be ridden all year round. So it's a stupid video comparing the two... they're completely different bikes.

    You can set the rear spring to rider + luggage or rider + pillion and you get more preload without making it bouncy in dynamic

    Gotta set the suspension to Dynamic Pro. Its a lock in the sub menu settings to open it up. Much stiffer.

    I’m still a newish rider with just over 3 years under my belt and I currently have an F900R, which I enjoy doing everything on from the daily commute to sporty twisty road action, and even taking it out on multi-day long distance motocamping tours, it’s great! I’ve been looking at the XR though as my potential replacement bike as another great do-it-all option if you could only have 1 bike in the garage, while also getting rid of that itch I have in experiencing a high performance in-line 4 bike. Kill two birds with one stone!
    I’m not a track guy but I feel a liter sportbike is something I’ve gotta experience at least once in my riding career. At the same time, I’m thinking the XR might also be too much a compromise for actual touring needs, at least for those times when you really just wanna chill out and not go hard at times…like would that inline 4 get tiring after a while on the open road? Wouldn’t it be begging you to wring it out all the time? Thinking the Triumph Tiger GT Pro might really be what I should be looking for, especially with that shaft drive (though chain maintenance while on the road really doesn’t bother me all that much…).
    But ya, the S1000R has also been on my radar, if I were to go the two-bike route and have more specialized machines for round-town and fun duties, and long distance touring, instead of trying to find a unicorn. It was great hearing of your review of the XR as an R owner to get your thoughts 😊

      I am in the same boat. Currently own a f900r. Had the chance to test ride a 2021 s1000xr and absolutely loved it. I’m looking for one bike to do it all- speed, semi touring, comfort and of course it’s gotta put a smile on my face and make me want to stare at it every time I see it. I think the XR does that. If it’s like the f900r, it will need the seat upgraded and possible with the heated option. I am also going to test ride the tiger GT pro 1200 as well because that is my second option, but I’m learning more towards the bmw

    • @benwells2338
      @benwells2338 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ridegnu6815 Sweet! And haha ya, it DOES sound like we’re one in the same as far as the needs we have of our bikes. I’ve also been highly considering the Tiger 1200 GT Pro. I’m a taller rider at 6’2 but in my mid thirties so my back never gives me any issues over long distances being slightly forward on the F900R, but that knee bend…oh my. I’d very rarely take my bike off road so the road-biased nature of either the XR or Tiger GT are right up my alley. The Tiger does provide shaft drive but to be honest, lubing and cleaning the chain while out on the road really isn’t THAT annoying.

    • @ridegnu6815
      @ridegnu6815 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@benwells2338 lol we are definitely on the same page. I have no desire to go off rode either. I think having the chain makes it easier to change a tire or make a repair on the side of the road but I could be misinformed on that

      I'm basically looking for the same thing... Another bike you may want to test ride is a BMW R 1250 RS. It has less HP at 136 BHP, but it has over 100 LB-FT of torque! For me, and I know these are totally different machines, but it's up in the air for me between the..
      2021-2022 BMW R 1250 RS,
      2021-2022 BMW S1000R,
      2022 BMW K1600 GT,
      2021-2022 BMW S1000XR... Although older, if I found one in mint condition with low miles, I'd possibly even buy a 2015-2016 BMW K1300S... The K1300S has 175 HP & also has over 100 LB-FT of torque. By next spring or summer, I will buy one of these incredible machines. Best of luck to you! 👍

    Thank you for this honest review. I have ridden bikes since 1979, and have had parallel twins (Triumph), V-twins (Yamaha) and a straight 4 (Suzuki GSX750) and a single (first bike, a Honda 125)). I have had two BMW boxers in my life, and my latest bike is an R1250R, I have preference for the boxer. One cant ride it like a straight 4, buzzing the engine, it is more like a diesel, where there is tremendous torque at low revs. I never take it above 4500 revs, cant as one is then well above the speed limit. There is no fairing, but I wear ear plugs which negates most of the wind noise in the helmet, and wind noise as a whole is not that noticeable. I found wind noise was worse on the Suzuki with the blast over the cockpit fairing. The only way I suppose is to have a large fairing, but then large fairing bikes do not appeal to me, the 'bikiness' is lost. But of course, as in all things, everyone to their own. Saying that the S1000XR is a handsome looking bike.

      Worst bits of the bike for me are the OE tyres, OE chain lasts 5000 miles, tunnel noise

    Ive just had one as a courtesy bike, the mechanical thrashing noise on start up annoyed me, didnt like the seat at all nor the footpeg position in relation to the seat position. Windnoise another issue. When comparing engine characteristics with my K1300R, there is unfortunately no substitute for cubic capacity. PS the quickshifter up and down is sublime. Verdict 7/10

    The ZX-14R or ZZR-1400 as it is known in the UK is the perfect combination of performance and comfort. The Kawi is faster and more roomy than the BMW. The Kawasaki is also less expensive and more reliable. My friends who have owned BMW's all had reliability problems with them. I would never buy one. The Kwacker also does not have a nasty vibration problem at 4500-5000 rpm. Let's get that Blackbird finished.
