  • Hey guys,
    Sometimes I just have to ramble on to get some of these thoughts out. If I plan it out too much, the video would never get done.... So you get off the cuff brain dump. I'm not sure it makes for a really slick professional video, but it gets the info out there... I usually don't even review the video before posting, I just let em fly, so if I make mistakes,, repeat myself, curse, or loose my train of thought, it is what it is..... ALA natural.....GRINS
    PS... I forsee a drinking game..... Everyone takes a drink every time I say ANYHOW.........LOL.... Guess it's not as bad as saying Ummmm..... But geeeze I'm a goofy fella....

    I totally agree that big bore milling is an awesome option to go! Like you..... I chainsaw mill 20 30 logs a month that won't fit on my bandsaw! I think most people who trash big bores are trashing aftermarket in general and, in most cases, don't know what they are talking about! The quality (as you said) is so much better than they used to be! And an excellent option to grinding! I have 4 plus years on a farmerteck 660 with no issues at all.
    Awesome information 👏 nice video 📹

      Well you're another long bar guy seeing the same... this is why its risky to make blanket statements on what works vs. What doesn't.. different situations show different needs and results...

    Sure wish the 288 could get a big bore kit. I have the clone 288,saw could really use a big bore kit.

      I don't see it happening.. not enough interest.. i could be wrong though.. i wonder if there is something that coukd be used with modding from another model?

    Maybe I should ask if changing a 281 into a 288 is worth it Power wise ?

  • @coolestguyontheplanet723
    @coolestguyontheplanet723 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does it put more pressure on crank case bearings to the point of needing upgrading ?

    • @bulletproofsaws
      @bulletproofsaws  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think all mods that bump up power can add to wear. IMO as far as cranks go, that is one point where OEM really gets to mattering. Will clone cranks do fine for a good length of time, yes...But while I feel AM jugs can put out power, I do worry about cranks. Not keep me up at night worry... In general the crank design of say a 660 regardless of OEM or AM can be weaker than some of the Husky models where the sprocket is situated inside the clutch drum as opposed to the outside. I see OEM guys snapping crank ends on OEM saws on big power builds with aggressive rakers. Big topic there.......

    Is changing a husqvarna 281 into a 288 a big issue. Besides new top end ?
    Is the carb big enough ?

    • @bulletproofsaws
      @bulletproofsaws  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not real sure on that as it is not a saw I have any deep working knowledge on. I do find CC's matter IF IF IF using longer bars and pushing saw over capacity... And then it is NOT going to double power, but may take a saw from maxxing out at 28" to 36"... But sometimes cost is not worth it and some saws handle the added capacity better. And there I do not only mean say crank volume or getting more air an and out. Sometimes oiler and bar studs start to become not sufficient. So it is an overall picture to look at.
