    A classic! Easily one of the most beautiful movies ever made, even the blood is beautiful... and you cant lose with that score by Goblin... i know it gets alot of hate, but im one of those people who loves the "remake" too, i put the remake in quotes, because it is a very different movie that deserves to be watch without comparison

    The premise of Suspiria is the victims have to show direct fear before they can be killed. The director explained it via a fan showing. Also with the eyes he said he hired a Mime to stand there in all black clothes and contacts. People hum bugged the director what who killed Pat and her friend and most thought it was the head of the covern but Argento said they summoned a low level demon to do their dirty work. I know of these creatures I dont know the correct demonic name but I call them "Lurkers" They are pit bulls but summoned can be trained to kill like a human and even take on their features like Palo's arm. BTW Golden They heard what was going on but like the wolf at the door they know enough NEVER to help the victim or their entire family gets it. They are protecting the ones they love ignoring her screams for help.

    This is a trilogy. The other two are “Inferno” and “Mother of Tears”. “Inferno” is kinda dull. MOT is friggin INSANE.

    I loved this movie so much when I was 14 omg. It’s very stylistic. I need to get back to Dario’s filmography but one movie by him I recommend is “Phenomena” it has Jennifer Connelly (idk if you know her) and the guy who plays Dr. Loomis from Halloween (Donald Pleasance)

    I love this movie and glad you liked it. Italian Giallos are so over the top but fun and interesting to look at. Another Giallo I'll suggest for you is " Torso" (1973) and I'll suggest Lucio Fulcis "Zombie" since you watched "City of the living dead"(1979)

      This is a horror film, not a giallo.

      @@stevegans3517 yes I agree but a lot of times people lump it in with Giallos because it's Italian

    • @stevegans3517
      @stevegans3517 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Doesnt make it right. Let's lump Forrest Gump in with Westerns because it's an American film lol. Or lump in Parasite with kung fu movies because it's Asian. If we set the recorde straight maybe we can build some awareness and respect for the giallo genre, which has expanded beyond Itqaly's borders. Looks at films like "Seven" and "Silence of the Lambs". Both giallos in every sense, just not made in Italy. @@stephenulmer3781

    Argento also worked on Dawn of the dead, Once you have gotten into italian horror, Fulci, Argenti, Bava, Soavi. they push the boundaries of gore, of horror, they are a whole genre in of themselves they are not for the novice horror

    Check out Inferno, Argento's sequel to Suspiria.
    Argento's Phenomena, with baby Jennifer Connelly, is also worth a watch.

    • @flatcapman
      @flatcapman ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Inferno is badly under rated and Phenomena is one of Argento's best. I was in the area where they filmed it during winter and seeing the film does not come close to how awesome and beautiful the place is. Fresh clean snow air nothing like it

    Suspiria is in my top 50 favorite films of all time, I just love the colors in the background in the film, and the score by Goblin is just perfect

    Dario Argento is my favourite director. I highly recommend watching his other movies, especially Deep Red, Inferno (sequel to Suspiria), Tenebrae, Phenomena and Opera. I even loved the 2018 remake. It’s a very different take but a beautiful movie in its own right.

    Easily an all-time favorite
    I'd recommend any Argento, he's my favorite director who, imo, never made a flop
    Every film is enjoyable, bit this is my favorite. I could (and have) write essays about it
    I highly recommend Opera (1987) as another great Argento

    This is a dope reaction as always! Welcome to the world of Giallo-style filmmaking. The vibrant and vivid color grading is one element to the style/genre. It always blows me away!

    One of the best and most famous italian horror movies. I swear almost every shot of this movie could be framedon a wall. It's such a beautiful movie. It's also a really brutal one. Just an all around classic. Great reaction.

    The last movie made in the west using the old technicolor 3-pack film. Argento had to go all the way to China to buy enough 3 pack film stock to finish the movie, hence the vibrancy of the colors here. And the film was initially only played in theatres with four track sound - a kind of surround sound that preceded Dolby. I can only imagine what seeing this movie is like in a theatre! Incredible film. The actor who played the mute servant wasn't an actor at all, but someone they found working in the post office. Argento liked his look and found a place for him in the movie. Demons is good, Demons 2 is a letdown, Argento produced but didn't direct them, that was Lamberto Bava, the son of Mario Bava, who created the giallo genre. Giallo is a murder mystery with elements of horror and eroticism. Argento's Deep Red is probably the best giallo ever, and he made it just before he made Suspiria - back to back classics!

    I recently got Suspiria on blu ray and while I had seen it before and liked it, watching it again I’ve really grown to love it.
    This movie is an audio/visual feast; from the soundtrack to the Technicolor cinematography and set design is so beautiful and striking.
    It makes me wish more horror movies were made with Technicolor.
    I’m just a sucker for the vibrancy of Technicolor films

      Argento's early stuff is so artistic, and I love how he compliments the visuals with jarring rock/metal soundtracks.

    The man that is also in "Blade" is a young Udo Kier. He is in a lot of films and usually plays a villain.

    First saw this when I was in college! Love it! Beautifully shot, frightening, creepy, campy, hilarious all at once. You might consider skipping the remake. It has none of the qualities of the original.

    Excellent reaction! New subscriber here based on this reaction. Since you enjoyed this, you should definitely follow up with the sequel to this one (1980's "Inferno"). "Suspiria" is technically a part of a trilogy (The Three Mothers Trilogy). "Inferno" is JUST AS GOOD. Just as beautiful to look at. Just as interesting. It gives you a little more detail about the witches, too. Keep in mind, it is a thematic sequel, rather than a direct sequel, as is The Three Mothers trilogy as a whole. The third film ("Mother of Tears") was made many years later and is not as celebrated, but I have come to enjoy it after a few viewings.
    THEN, you should totally check out my favorite Dario Argento movie, 1985's "Phenomena" (aka "Creepers") starring Jennifer Connelly. SO GOOD. So weird. So beautiful. Based on your appreciation of "Suspiria," I have no doubt you will love "Inferno" and "Phenomena" (aka "Creepers"). Just make sure to not get a copy of "Creepers" (as opposed to "Phenomena') b/c it is super cut down.

    The remake is not worth it, the fact that they actually made a remake of Suspiria is insulting!
    You should check out the sequel instead, Inferno. There's also the 3rd movie, Mother of Tears, which is the worst movie of the Three Mothers trilogy!
    Demoni/Demons is actually directed by Lamberto Bava, son of Mario Bava. But Argento did produce & I think wrote it too & you should definitely check it out 🙂
    The one you recognized is Udo Kier.

      Mother of tears was just a dumb gore fest and too rushed to work but its better then the crappy remake which was an insult to the Original. When the dancing is the only fun in the film and real dancing shown in a show it says a LOT. It wasnt even a real remake because it went in another direction and ignoring the terror and decent kills of the Original. Inferno I find equals the Original in a different way focusing on the alchemy to explain the mothers way better. VERY UNDER-RATED.

    Suspiria means sighs in latin. Hence the breathy sounds throughout the movie.
