Nothing like enjoying a hot cuppa 🫖and watching you create magic🔥✨🎆! You are such an inspiring and exhilarating slice of the day🥰🤗! Today's palette card was fantastic. Matter of fact, I am going to pour another cup, go play in my stencils and revisit some more Denise tutorials! Love ya, girl💃💃💖💖😘🙏
Beautiful exciting color palette...that pales in comparison to my level of EXCITEMENT over the texture from the cardboard 🎉🎉🎉 OMGOSH...that result drove me to PAUSE the video and head to Amazon...my search led me to order coffee cup corrugated cardboard sleeves...the least expensive and easiest to store option I liked. Love the two you love Denise. They are super pretty 😍. The corrugated cardboard gives them another dimension for the stencils to sit comfortably on. It’s interesting how we learn about complimentary colours but with this video I learnt about complimentary mark making and texture. The straight lines of the card (which I don’t usually gravitate to) vs the soft and delicate stencils. The patterns are opposing and work in harmony. Thank you so much for this 🙏🏻. Watching this feel’s like the penny has dropped with seeing the multiple layers of abstract and using marks, that alone, I wouldn’t necessarily be drawn to (excuse the pun 😆) work together when we layer them with an opposite pattern. So grateful for this Denise. Feels a bit of an eureka moment 💡. Just need to try it now 😄. 🤗💖🤗 Love and gratitude xx
Denise, have you ever thought of buy a guillotine cutter, you will never have to buy another blade again. I use to have the same cutter you use and I got tired of spending so much money on the blades, they got more and more expensive all the time. The guillotine works so smooth and cut even heavy weight paper with ease. Also for the corrugated cardboard, that comes in every box you get things shipped to you especially from amazons. You peal the top layer of cardboard off and you see the corrugated part and there you go beautiful corrugated cardboard. You introduced something amazing to us, I have fell in love with it too. Just some tips I'm putting out there.😀
My favorite is number 4 far right.the corrugated used one. I do like the orange one. When I see it, my mind wants to finish out an ammonite, or nautilus with that orange area off center. They are all real nice. Take care. Be safe.
The one with all the orange makes me think of a Koi pond and water lilies. I do think it needs the cardboard treatment to look like ripples in the water. I love it. As well as the lower left one. Those colors are one of my favorite combos (minus the orange but it works)
I never guessed that corrugated cardboard would make such interesting marks. Glad you experiment Denise! I think your fave is also mine. For some reason it made me think of looking out of a gazebo into a spring garden. 🩵
I absolutely love your infectious enthusiasm and the tips and techniques you introduce so spontaneously. You've really inspired me to loosen up and enjoy the process of creating more abstract pieces
Hi Denise I just got on here and was looking for one of your videos that I had not already watched. The one I ended up watching you talked about a doctors diet to lose some Covid weight and also how some people are kind of mean in their comments. Unfortunately I guess these days that is to be expected. I just wanted to say I like just hearing your voice while I am painting something I’m working on and often it has nothing to do with what you are teaching and I glance over and see what you are doing as you talk. I find it relaxing. Also you have inspired me to do watercolor which until now I didn’t really like. It has also encouraged me to look into having some ‘art nights ‘ for our local pregnancy center either fir the girls who are ‘in the family way’ or to others at their facility who would pay a fee and that money would go to the center. It would be a way for me to support the center. So thank you.
I love watching your videos in the mornings as they are so peaceful. About 2 weeks ago, I gathered all of my materials and put them in a stack on may desk to use in a color palette from a magazine photo. I was amazed to see how much "stuff" I had that covered the palette colors. I like the rolling brush technique you demonstrated. I have used the corrugated cardboard on a Gelli plate but will try it with the water colors. I don't think you have a bad one in the bunch but my favorite is the one with the splash of orange.. P.S. I never tire of the gold ink and that wonderful brass nib.

@2lilowlsstudio , thank you so much!! I have watched so many of your videos and I loveeeee all of them. They have inspired me to mixmatch watercolor and acryllic paints!!! 🥰
Lovely work. I am a watercolour artist but, like you, I get so excited by experimenting and by teaching others how to explore and let go. Thank you for sharing your techniques in this video. I am fired up to play with some of these beautiful ideas when I can carve out some time... Blessings, S
Love these colors and how they turned out. But I also really Loved the one with the dark stencil color. I thought Oh pair it with one of the two paintings with the cardboard because they would compliment one another. :) LOVE your videos!!!
I love the Stonehenge paper because it’s so soft and it absorbs the paint so nicely… But I absolutely can’t stand the fact that no matter what tape I use it comes up when I take it off! I’ve tried to blow dryer, and the heat gun, still tears, the paper… But, I figured out this one tedious way of getting it off there… And it may not be the best technique for everyone, but I paint right on the block, so I don’t usually tape the paper down onto a different surface. So once I’m done with the painting and everything is dry and I got all the stretch I want out of the block, I start to peel the tape slowly and take a wet, clean, watercolor brush, and I push it underneath the tape and the water releases the paper from the tape easily without any tearing at all. I have to go slow though, and because it’s on a block, it totally works… But yeah, such a pain in the butt :-)
I love this color palette. Since the original orange sort of mellowed to a yellow orange in the original layer, maybe another time you could us a less vibrant, more yellowish orange in the stencils. Will definitely be trying that cardboard technique - LOVE THAT!
I love the use of the cardboard, and those two are my favorites. I saw someone use a mask/ stencil in the same way letting the watercolors dry under and around it. I think she said that acrylics might stick mask/stencil to paper. Thanks Denise, great video.
I loved the two with the cardboard but in the original orientation. I was getting a Maxfield Parrish vibe from them even though they weren’t as saturated as his colors. You’re always so inspiring to watch.
I just try to come close. I’m not trying to be exact. Just getting close and working with the colors I might not normally try is my goal. Don’t worry about trying to match exactly, sometimes I’m close… sometimes I’m off. 😊
Oooh I gotta get those stencils! I have dexterity issues and have had a hard time with keeping stencils from bleeding but I got some of that adhesive you can use to re-stick 🤞
Loved that palette. I swear, you could make an entire prompt deck just from bird colors. The cardboard is cool too - at least on video, it almost looks like little slices were cut into the surface where the corrugating is.
I absolutely love these colors! I recently found your channel. If I’m not mistaken, I think Ceri the Crafter mentioned you but don’t hold me to that. Anyway. You have inspired me to paint, which I aspire to do. I love your style!
I have the corrugated cardboard also, but never use it! I will use it today! Don’t you just love the Color Cube?! I feel like I’m in my art rooom so much more because I can’t wait to see what colors I’ll work on next. Watching you do your abstracts is very inspiring, I’ve started doing more abstracts for the backgrounds of my mushroom and bird sketches 😊 thank you for sharing with us! Oh, my faves were the two with the cardboard lines and the stencils are in my cart 😉
I loved the same ones you did. Those blocks you mentioned are called breezeway blocks and I thought that stencil looked like them as soon as you brought it out. I have some of that corrugated cardboard and I need to remember to use it. Thanks for another great video. ☺
Denise I thought the sponges were some kind of cut up fruit or sweet potatoes w cinnamon on top lol😂 anyway I’m still in the middle of the video but I love these more vibrant out there color palettes you have been up too. I really need to buy a set of these. I keep saying I’m gonna make some out of paint chips and my circle punch but that never happens.

Great tip! Thank you! 🥰
I love this color palette. Since the original orange sort of mellowed to a yellow orange in the original layer, maybe another time you could us a less vibrant, more yellowish orange in the stencils. Will definitely be trying that cardboard technique - LOVE THAT!
Thank you! 🥰
I love the use of the cardboard, and those two are my favorites. I saw someone use a mask/ stencil in the same way letting the watercolors dry under and around it. I think she said that acrylics might stick mask/stencil to paper. Thanks Denise, great video.
Great idea! Thank you! 🥰
I’ve just discovered you and am loving watching your videos!
Thank you! 🥰
Love them all💖
Thank you! 🥰
I loved the two with the cardboard but in the original orientation. I was getting a Maxfield Parrish vibe from them even though they weren’t as saturated as his colors. You’re always so inspiring to watch.
Thank you! 🥰
I loved all of them except for the one you are going to cut hearts out of. I kept wanting to add something to the upper right corner.
Thank you! 😊
I'm fascinated with the Color Cube, but don't know if I could match the colors with the paints I have. You matched exactly. Nice!
I just try to come close. I’m not trying to be exact. Just getting close and working with the colors I might not normally try is my goal. Don’t worry about trying to match exactly, sometimes I’m close… sometimes I’m off. 😊
@@2lilowlsstudio OK, thank you! Maybe I will get them, I've been eyeing them a long time. Thanks again.
Oooh I gotta get those stencils! I have dexterity issues and have had a hard time with keeping stencils from bleeding but I got some of that adhesive you can use to re-stick 🤞
💛
Loved that palette. I swear, you could make an entire prompt deck just from bird colors. The cardboard is cool too - at least on video, it almost looks like little slices were cut into the surface where the corrugating is.
That cardboard is cool in person too! I love how it turned out. I agree - you could totally make a card deck from bird colors!! Thank you! 🥰
I absolutely love these colors! I recently found your channel. If I’m not mistaken, I think Ceri the Crafter mentioned you but don’t hold me to that. Anyway. You have inspired me to paint, which I aspire to do. I love your style!
I'm so glad you are getting inspired to paint!! Thank you! 🥰
I definitely love my color cube. I'm like you and can't wait to see what comes out next! So glad you enjoyed this!! Thank you! 🥰
I loved the same ones you did. Those blocks you mentioned are called breezeway blocks and I thought that stencil looked like them as soon as you brought it out. I have some of that corrugated cardboard and I need to remember to use it. Thanks for another great video. ☺
That’s what they are! Breezeway blocks! I love those. Thank you! 🥰
I’m obsessed with playing in the palettes. So many fun surprises with the ones I’ve done! Thank you! 🥰
My faves are the same as yours😊..
Love the colour combo a lot
Thank you! 🥰
