Thank you. What has been fun is introducing this chord pattern to a jamming circle. Having a guitar player with the Bridge chords to keep it flowing as well. It was awesome. As a pal of mine wrote. Almost a spiritual experience. This tune has a profound way of drawing me into a zone and I get very lost into it as I play it.
Wonderfully played. One of the all time best movies and soundtracks. Thank you so much for showing that this is possible on the dulcimer. Maybe one one, I can get there.
Laura, words cannot describe how beautiful a rendition this is!! makes me think of the breathtaking scenery in the movie, as well as daniel day lewis :)
I am inspired...this is a wonderful tune...you might have a fret or two more than I do...but I am not above bending the strings....thank you thank you thank you so much for playing and posting this excellent song....very well done!
Well, now you'e done it. We all want the tabs and we're going to stay up for night after night trying to play it! Please add me to your list and I'd be happy to make a donation for it.
Superb. I can see how tiring it must be to keep up the repetitive chord progression and still play the melody at a different speed. And you are so right about how the tune draws you in and can mesmorize its plays as well as its listeners. Thank you. I also would like to purchase the MD tab for it if you have it available digitally preferably by email. I am in Canada and am not able to return to Florida this year probably.
I just got my first dulcimer a few days ago...and Laura this is the first song I am going to try to learn..Great song and u do it so well. I hope I can learn it half as good as you play it.
Thank you. Not chromatic. I do have a 1.5 and a 8.5 fret tho'. The tuning is DAD, played in Em. The 1.5 comes in handy for the bridge part. But is not needed. You'll just need to play C position up on the fret board and play off of the middle string.
Hi! I love this! I am new to mountain dulcimer and would love to learn this. I have been trying to learn it on hammered dulcimer as well. Do you by any chance have tabs for mountain dulcimer for this, or know where to get them? I am much too new to the instrument to competently pick it put by ear...Thanks!
Wow! Did you learn this song by reading notes? I got a dulcimer not long ago and I can't really play it. I absolutely love this song and would love to learn it! Have u been playing long?
It's a shame I can't give a "like" every time I listen to this!
This is insanely good. And in spite of the somber tune and incredibly sad movie is somehow cheering me up this dark night.
This is my favorite version!
Beautiful, Laura! 🙂

Your fingers are dancing a lively jig on the frets! All they need is a kilt. Wonderful music!
Hmmm
Would make for an interesting effect
Have heard Bing Futch and his electrified dulcimer, it was good, but this is sublime!
Thankyou.
I agree!

A very distinctive sound. Looks difficult to play unless you have 14 fingers on each hand! thanks for posting.
This... melts me... ecstasy ~
Now that’s fantastic!
One of my favorite dulcimer TH-cams!

Tabs or lesson please.
Have you tabbed this at all?
Kavik v.d.Hexenholtz
Yes I have it tabbed out
Laura Elder Is it at all possible to get a copy? I don't have a chromatic, so no 1 1/2 fret, but I can usually work around it.
Kavik v.d.Hexenholtz
I don't think I have a file saved on my computer. I would need to send it snail mail.
Laura Elder That would be great. If you could drop me an email at nhcalligrapher@yahoo.com, I'll let you know the address. Thanks!
Do you know where one could find the sheet music?
