Yes it is ! We love it 😀 Don't get me wrong I loved my 79 it was my dream vehicle. And if we were just towing a camper or small hybrid it was perfect. But because we added the auto and 35" tyres plus 4" lift we needed to get more out of the motor especially because we made it auto the gearing was all wrong yes in hin sight I could of changed the diff gears but hey we live and learn. It was a weapon on the hwy and had power to burn but it just through codes everything we towed our big van. But hey that's life. Seeing we are now full time on the road and 90% of it will be towing our van we needed to right vehicle for towing. Yes cruiser's and patrols and dual cab Ute's can tow 3.5t but they are 4wd's first These American trucks are tow vehicles first so the sacrifice was a vehicle that could do 90% of what we do! Not 10% It was a hard decision to make but this is our life now. And when we finally get to the Pilbara next month love to catch up and do a trip with you both. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺🍩

i found that i drive with about 15% less air in my tires than the car companies recommend and i found that you don't wear out the center of the tires when driving on highway and you don't have to be so fussy at reducing tire pressure off road
That is a sign if your tyres are wearing just in the centre they are too hard if the shoulders wear but not the centre then they need more air. Just trial and error to see what works for each set-up. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺🍩
Watch out for the grid heater failures on those 6.7lt cummins. A bolt can fall into a cylinder and destroy the motor. Banks does an upgrade (Monster Ram) to eliminate that weak point.
We have the 2500 with Rambox , there great to drive, can be hard to get a car park sometimes lol. Hope your happy with the RAM like us you can now come to the American truck and van jamboree next year 😊 we were told same thing about the caravan cameras . Eventually figured the RAM trailer camera is digital and Australian caravan cameras are analogue , not compatible 😢 we have 60 psi cold in our tyres . When we got car it was high on pressure too 😊 will find the mirrors are setup for left hand drive too love the slide out mirrors 😮
Yes the tyres were up there 85 in rear and 77 in the front. I was happy with how it rode it was just a bit harsh on speed bumps. I'm running 55 in the rear now and 50 in the front and it is as smooth as now. Just the turning circle is a bit tight which does make it hard to navigate through tight spaces but it is all do able. My 3500 is pretty capable off road folks. Got rid of those bloody Nexen tyres and fitted Maxis RAZR AT 295/70/18s and it made such a difference in off road and ride, running about 55 pounds. I use my exhaust brake all the time as well.
If not already, join the Ram 5th gen 2500/3500 HD discussion group. Heaps of information on the faults that are going to appear in the future. Cummins went to hydraulic lifters in 2019 and have had a few issues. These are also very finicky with things as simple as using the correct part numbered air filter . Wrong ones vis the MAP sensor can play havoc with the after emission treatment system.

I have heard that too about the suspension but truth have every single car you buy and load it up and tow heavy weights needs to have the suspension upgraded. We are very close to being just the right length for Tassie just might have to take the spare tyre off the back of the caravan, but I will measure it once we put the van on the car. Hi Guys, have you towed your van with the 3500 yet? Would be interested how you were instructed to tow van on handover, tow/haul mode gear selection etc. keep the vids coming 👍
No not yet but we are during this week it will be up this Friday. We were told to use the tow/haul button and that stops the gearbox going into the overdrive gear. But will experiment with it a bit to see what works best for us and our set-up. But really hard to give a true opinion just after a couple of days. They are getting more parts available now Probably not as quick as Toyota. But we did do our lights on the patrol this time last year and Nissan didn't have any and it was going to be a 3 month wait. I Just checked. If the vehicle GVM is between 4.5t and 8t you only need a LR so you be fine the GVM on my 3500 from factory is 5.352t. And I think you can get a GVM upgrade too but it is only up 5.8t so still only on a LR. So you'll be fine. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺

But you do need to remember we are talking straight off the cuff it isn't scripted and we are just saying it how it is at the time. Just wonder if you get an issue with RAM in outback how quickly can you get parts and someone to repair compared to Toyota or Ford?
They are getting more parts available now
Probably not as quick as Toyota.

You will need a LR (light ridget) to drive this vehicle.
We both have HR licences so all good for us.
