U saved my sanity lol. My problem was I couldn’t find the ground to hook the green wire too. I bought that exact dryer today because my other one died so 5 hours later now I think I can’t put the 4 prong cord on. But in the morning I’m wiped out lol now I know to remove that ground and the other hole to use as a ground . Finally ! Thsnks
I seriously cannot say THANK YOU enough!!! My mom and I have spent 10 hours today on this washer/dryer adventure. We had a stacked combo and the dryer went out so we thought it would be easy to just go get a new dryer and keep using the washer that's part of the combo. Once we got home with the new dryer, we realized that the combo also uses a 4 prong plug and so does the new dryer obviously. Our laundry room only has one of those outlets. We had to go back to the store and ended up just buying a washer to go with the dryer. Got home and couldn't even get the washer inside. It was pouring down rain (hoping it actually works- we haven't tried yet). A neighbor walking by helped us get it inside. We tried to drag the stacked combo out of the room and ended up having to take the entire door off the hinges. Now we just got finished watching your video to set our dryer up. Going to plug it in then get the washer hooked up. We might be referencing another one of your videos soon! It has been a DAY. Thank you for the tutorials. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I am very thankful for TH-cam and for you!!
Good Morning!! My wife and I just bought a new GE yesterday and had no clue that we needed to buy a power cord. I thought it was the door, opened it and thought...Nope that's not it!!! Took back off computer part and found out it was there either. Because thats where old dryers had plug. So thank you for clearing it up and making sure I know where I need to put each wire. Awesome explanation. You are my new appliance guru!!!
Thank you! First time bew home owner, and my daddy has long passed. The used dryer was a gift I am grateful for, and this helped me out SOOO much!! Thank You!!!!
Thank you brother you saved my life. The new dryers from Lowe’s do not come with power supply cord. Took off the 4 prong from my old dryer. Followed your steps and now everything is golden. My wife is happy and now back to Alabama football #RTR
Thank you for your video. It'ds been a rough couple of months trying to find a new place. When we finally got a place 1 day before becoming homeless. A week later we go and get our washer and dryer from storage just to find our we need to change the cord. Your video made it seem so much more simpler than the manual. Thank you soo much for providing a little relief of happiness for clean and dry clothes and blankets. Merry Christmas.
Thank you so much! Your the only video that I could find that touched on every piece. Very thorough and knowledgeable. I'm a newly single mom and had not a clue on how to do this, so a humongous thank you to you!
I literally went through at least 10 other videos and then I found yours! Thank you for this video! I wasn't sure where to place the green ground wire. You answered that for me.
Awesome, with one exception: the clamp is supposed to clamp down on the black outer cord covering. It's thickness is made to protect inner wiring, and the heavy duty material of this protective layer can endure clamping pressure, but the inner wires will allow the metal clamp to ware through over time. When clamp wares through, then you have hot wires touching the metal appliance, which can be fatal.
Thank you...Just got a washer dryer ge stackable and this video was very helpful for to have better understanding oh hoe to hook up the power cord. The stackable didn't have that part so now I can try to find one that fits and know exactly how to hook it up to the dryer
Like the other people commenting, I am so thankful. I was the person that believed had to get another dryer. I ahead already begun looking. The only question I have is where to buy the cord. Will Home Depot have the part? Sometimes they are not knowledgeable- even when you show them a video they can be like. “I didn’t know you could do that״.
This was so helpful im a single mom been divorced 3 years and im still learning how to do things on my own. I was almost in tears thinking I couldn't do it
Thank you so much for including what to do for different scenarios. It was extremely helpful and I have no doubts that our brand new dryer is hooked up correctly and will hopefully last us for years to come. 😊
Thanks for uploading this video saved me hours of trying to figure out which wire goes where especially the green wire but all set and done our dryer now running appreciate you
Thank you for making this video! I've been trying to figure out how to do the 3 to 4 wires all day and finally found this video and was able to figure it out!
Thank you sir. I didn't know what I was doing 😅. I cut the crimp rings off. Is it safe to strip the insulation back, and secure the bare wire? Thx in advance.
I have a GE dryer and i followed your exact steps and also guided myself with the instructions on the back of the dryer (same as your video) but for some reason my dryer keeps tripping the switch and i cannot get it to work. Any idea why? Thank you!
Thanks for the video , my dryer looks the same but I’m missing the link for G . Because I’m changing a 4 P to a 3 P Where can but the Link that hours to the Ground
My green screw won’t fit any other holes except the one it was originally in. And the green wire won’t reach that hole…what do I do?? Thank you so much for helping!!
This video has some good info but after following the instructions & converting my new to me GE dryer it would not work Luckily my daughter is engaged to a very helpful maintenance man who was able to figure out the ground was incorrect He re-installed the jumper on the neutral Now it’s working great
Thanks for your informational and very helpful video. I was able to hook up my new electrical dryer ..my 19 year old dryer finally gave out for the first time since I bought it. It was a great dryer 😢 I got my money's worth at least. I have just replaced it and it was a bit intimidating having to set up and wire my new one. This video helped me NOT kill myself trying‼ 😳🤣 Thanks to your vid its all good to go now!! I just hope it lasts me as long as my last one did. Thing just arent built to last like they used to be.
Thanks so much for this super helpful video! I’m turning into a handy woman lol. That’s what happens when you’re a single women having to figure stuff out! Thanks again!!
I bought a GE and hooked it up with the bar still in place, ground and neutral on the white. It came on but didn't heat up. When I wire it correctly, what you show, it doesn't come on at all.?? Any thoughts?
Thanks for this! I just changed out a plug for my hindi friends after they bought a washer dryer set from Facebook. You made this so easy to understand!
I have a GE g153 dryer connected by 4 prong but the ground is not connected and is simply taped off. What do I need to do? Is this Ok? I found this in the house this way , when I bought it.
I need clarity on switching from a 3 to 4 my maytag Neptune dryer has a green yellow and I’m confused about where to put it I have red to red black to black and the white to white green to ground and idk if green and yellow is neutral or not
Thank you for this video, it was extremely helpful! No idea what to do to make this exchange. However, my machine did not have the link so I did not have the green ground screw. Can I just buy one?
So we go our dryer used and I did not have to install the black wire. But the dryer would randomly stop working. I took the back off and saw that the green wire and white wire were both attached to the middle post. Would that be the reason that it stopped working?
hi - very helpful thank you - quick question for you - does the green wire have to be in the spot where you put it? i checked out the wiring of mine as its been tripping the gfci breaker, and it looks like the green wire is attached next to the hole where the red yellow and black wires are coming out (on the strain relief bracket, i believe it's called). there is the circle next to that hole to denote ground, but its in a different spot vs. what the diagram says, so not sure if that mattered or not. A few ppl have said it doesnt matter / isnt the cause for tripping the gfci breaker, but not sure why it wouldnt be where it says it should be in the diagram. thank you!
Thank you I'm almost there but I didn't know what to do with the green wire I just got a brand new washer and dryer and I cut my own wires but when I got dropped it off they said since I don't have new wiring hoses they can't hook it up I never heard of such but anyway I'm putting it together myself thank you now for the washing machine
