Thanks a ton man, Just bought my first ever washer and dryer without realizing the tubes and power cord are sold separately 😅 🤦🏿, so I really appreciate the info on how to put it all together
Another excellent video. I used to work at a big box home center and you wouldn’t believe how many people needed to install a washer and dryer. I know this only showed the dryer, but it’s def the most intimidating of the two.
Hey Tyler! The washing machine video is coming out next week, so stay tuned. Hooking up a washer and dryer is relatively easy but if you have never done it, it can be intimidating. Thanks for watching!
Always loved when I got a job that venting was easy. Having to do rigid pipe and even ones that are telescoping which are helpful. Our area you need to make sure what the code is as long as making sure what the electric dryer manufacturer calls for. Taking shortcuts, can destroy a unit as well. Just like if the dryer has that bridge on the unit, making sure you do it properly. Great explanation on that Making sure the wire and breaker is the proper size wire in the rough-in or pre existing is so important. Sometimes wire in a pre-existing job the wire could be too small for the load required. I know you didn't mention the breaker amp size, but that is determined on the rough-in as well. That's why it's so important to check with the codes and requirements. I've had some jobs that I could not do because the homeowner did not want to upgrade to the proper wire size to accommodate the new dryer. I won't do short cuts at all. Thank you for the great video with the information as well. Have a great week. 🔨👍🏻
Yes, it is important to wire properly for your dryer. Obviously since this is an electric dryer it is much more important to pay attention to the breaker and wire size. A washing machine is much easier than a dryer to install! My next video will be installing the washing machine, but obviously not as in-depth has this video. Thanks for watching David!
@@TheExcellentLaborer always look forward to them. Washing machine install is easier if course, but the rough-in for draining is. Some can only drain in a utility sink instead of a drain box. All are still important. Some old houses with the utility sink drain that go in the floor drain are sometimes a challenge because of newer washers, longer cycles etc. I would always try and hook them up into a schedule 40 drain if close by and trapped. When I did my nephews washer and dryer in there addition, I built a platform for them to be elevated with drawers underneath instead of buying the platforms from the manufacturer. They loved having extra storage. Have a great week Josh. 🔨👍🏻
Can you make a video on how to lay compound to make a floor level in order to install flooring? My home is built on slab foundation an has become un-leveled, so that's why I'm asking.
Hey Josh! Love your videos man! I just noticed that you don’t have a video on how to frame/install pocket doors. Do you have any plans in the future to do one?
What is the risk/issue in leaving the white wire that was on the chassis ground there and adding the green wire from the cord? And then putting the other three colored wires from the cord to their appropriate places on the dryer? That is how home depot shows to do it.
Josh, I know this is an older video but just found you and subscribed. Question: what do I do if the new dryer purchased has a back for the hose like the one you have, but my hose goes down thru the bottom of the floor? I have my pulled out right now just so I can use it, but 1) its not sitting even with the washer.. 2) its taking up too much space because I have it pulled out and looks awkward. Its all wrong.
I didn’t hook up the steam system, I have it though. My dryer takes 3 turns to dry completely no matter the setting. Is that because I don’t have the steam system set up or did I buy a bad dryer? Also the dryer gets to hot to the touch when settings are paused on the top of it if it’s not on. Once it’s on it cools off.
Hello my new ge electric dryer the wires are like yours BUT my middle wire is yellow not white and the book it came with says its nutrual but everything I read says yellow is not nutrual...mine is red, double wire yellow then black any ideas
I just bought a GE dryer, and it is a 4 wire. The instruction manual plainly show 2 black wires, 2 red wires, one white and one green. Any ideas about that?
This is a long shirt you will even see this comment: at 2:07 those 3 wires - is there a way to replace those? The 3 screws to remove my 3 prong cored: I could only remove the top one the other 2 I swear on god is glued in. I tried everything. Now the screws are stripped. The box piece holding those wires comes off easily. Is there a way to get to those 3 wires to replace that black box without having to know slicing wire reconnect knowledge? I know long shot but i had to try.
I watched it like 5 videos until I got this and I really appreciate for your time to explain clearly
@@JuanGarcia-wz6jr Great, I’m glad I could help!
Straight and simple. This video has helped me quite a bit thanks for posting!

Thank you for the video! I didn't know that they had 4 wire cords. Always used gas or 3 prong connectors.
You are welcome. Yes 3 and 4 prong is the common electric dryer cord sizes. Thanks for watching!

I don’t have any projects like that coming up soon, but I’m sure I will in the future. Stay tuned!
Wonderful
Thank you!
You are welcome!
Awesome video very helpful thanks for sharing 👍 💯
Josh, good info as always. I agree, the stainless hose upgrade is well worth the price as you don’t want any leaks from old & cracked rubber ones.
I’d like steel braided waterlines as well. Thanks Dan!
Thank you so much
Thank you for the information Josh. I'm curious why would there need to be a water line for a dryer?
Great question! This dryer has a steam function. Not all dryers have this. I hope that helps!
@@TheExcellentLaborer Where does the steam go?

Thanks, gef

Followed exactly with a new whirlpool dryer and it fried the circuit board

Why isn’t there a gfci near the water source. Also, the 4 prong near a water source is not allowed.
The vent is pretty close to the ground what about snow?
My vent is like the one in the video. When we have snow, the hot air blowing out melts the snow within a foot or so of the vent.. no problem.
Wish the washers dryed the clothes in NA like the rest of the planet... I mean are we going to be buying dish dryers next? How smart is our market!?
the dryer need a water to
I just purchased that washer and dryer set up and they are trash. Great video tho
✌️👍
Thanks for watching Handyman!
My dryer not heating up after this ….🤷🏽♂️
Skill issue
What is the purpose of turning off the breaker? You're not doing any electrical work.
Filmed one long vid with full dyer installation steps which included electrical work. Then cut up the vids to segments - electrical vids in desc.
