It removes the bond from the cabinet to the neutral as it was previously when set up for 3 prong while isolating the ground so if there is a fault needing the ground the whole cabinet doesn't become energized. Electrons do not know wire color so you could potentially energize the whole neutral system in your house if you didn't isolate the ground circuit
Thank you for this video. I just moved to a different state near my son and grandchildren and I needed to change my plug out from 3 to 4. Your video is very easy and helpful. I can do this my self. Again thank you.
I have an older dryer that came with 3 prong chord. In the electrical box on the back of dryer, the internal ground wire (to the left) is green with yellow stripe, not white like I see here. When I install my 4 prong cord where will I place the green (with yellow stripe) wire that’s already on the dryer?
The green and yellow wire should stay grounded to the dryer and you overlap the green wire on the power cord using the same screw that’s securing it. The ground wire is either white or green like yours. Make sense?
The wire grounded to the frame can be white or green depending on the model dryer. As long as the dryer is grounded, you’ll be in good shape. Thanks for watching!
Did this and unfortunately it doesn’t get hot (heating element) so now I have to get it serviced. Just because it’s not getting hot doesn’t mean it’s the heating element. It could be a few different things. Check the outlet to make sure it’s the correct voltage and it came back good. I’ll see how much it’ll cost to repair and if to much I’ll just get a new one. Repairs can be ridiculously expensive.
Hi I’m connecting a 4 prong to my dryer. When I opened it up there is a white cord and another green/yellow cord. How do I connect it? Thanks my dryer is a kenmore
Thank you. Only thing inhave to say is the reason i came to the video was to verify black and red sides for wires since my manual did not cover. Tip: Look on the top side of the box and see what color cord is coming in from the top and connecting to the terminal. Thank you!
Thank you! I've installed 4 prong on my dryer and stove now thanks to you. Also I appreciate your straightforward approach, some of the other channels talk about "let's get this man-sh*t" done and other macho things, but um yeah girls own appliances too, so thanks for doing things simply and clearly so they are accessible for everyone :)
Double check your power cord installation, and after you confirm that, plug into outlet and make sure breaker is turned on. If it’s not an electrical issue, the dryer will need further diagnostics. It could be something like a bad door switch…
Yup! Thanks! Same thing w/me. Moved into a newer home. 1st, I had to use an adjustable duct; had to hacksaw it; finally got ready to plug it in, WTF? Eye yi yi! A 45 minute job turned into 2-3 days!
Thank you for getting right to it and not spending 10m of preamble. You are a lifesaver, dude.
No worries, glad I can help!
Very helpful....just got rid of all my contusion over the white and green wires.. Thanks so much
I’m glad I could help!
This is the only video that made sense when explaining , thank you for the video I was able to change to a 4 plug cord , Thank you !!!!!!
You are very welcome! Glad I was able to help you out!
What if you have double green wires? Would it be the skinny one going with the white wire? I’m so unsure.
I’m wondering the same thing. Did you get it figured out?
Can you explain why the white wire (previously the ground) needed to be connected to the neutral wite
Thank you, middle aged housewife trying to install this while the hubby works OT very helpful.

do all dryers follow this same black-white-red pattern, left to right?
Does it matter which way the plate of the red black and white wires sit? Like I notice u have it to ware the wires are facing out
SAFETY FIRST: Make sure the plug isn't plugged into the wall socket before connecting wires to the dryer.
Thank you so much! YOU are the man🙏!
No problem and thank you!
My wire that comes out the dryer is green not white does it still go with the white cord?

@@TheAppliancePlug absolutely! Thank you
Good rule of thumb when connecting any electrical is to connect it 1. Ground 2. Neutral 3. Hots…Disconnect 1. Hots 2. Neutral 3. Ground
Very nice tip and to the point! Thanks Chris!
Thank you! You're a lifesaver!
You are welcome!
Thank you so very much man. You're a life saver😊

You are welcome! Thanks for tuning into my channel!
Thank you but I had a green wire with a stripe on dryer so I combined it with the plug green wire on frame

So cool it’s exactly what I have explained it very well
Thank you!
Great instructional video. Are the red and black wires interchangeable?
They should be since they’re both two equals of a 220v circuit
Dim question: Do I need special screws for the terminal?
Great Video !!!!!!
Thank you!
I was wondering why my dryer wasn't drying tysm

You are welcome! Thanks for tuning into my channel!
I don't see a short white screw to ground , so I just grounded it to dryer screw cover is that ok?

What if it don't come on after you finish what might be wrong?

Gracias 😘😘😘
Oops OP poo poo😅opp😊lovely
Sloppy. The wire needs to be pushed in more. That cord clamp should be around the rubber jacket, not just the wires.
Daaamn still gonna work tho
Sorry about that MrDelta
handsome helpful man
Thanks!
Amazing! Glad to help, thank you!
