*Small estimate from me of what I think you have invested in the SRX;*
    - Left fender: $100
    - Front bumper cover: $175
    - Fog lights: $30
    - Hood hinge: $30
    - Inner fender liner: $10
    - Stereo with trim (on black Friday with discount): $40
    - Amplifier: $30
    - Butt connectors: $4
    - Pigtails: $25
    - Some cleaning, shampoo, and other material: $20
    Parts investment: $464
    Car price with fee's: $265
    Total investment: ($465 + $265) = $729
    Estimated value: $4000
    Profit: ($4000 - $729) = $3271
    _That's a decent profit mate!_
Weldone! Wen are you going to do a Classic Car from Copart?! Like an '80s Chevrolet Cavalier?
Like if you argee on my estimate and if you wanna see a classic car!

It's easy to buy new parts...
Like this content more than others... Keep up the good work..
Like the DIY way and tips... 👌
Don't have this here in belgian...
The most junkyards are gone, because of environment issues...
You can find parts in specialized shops.... The magic of walkarounds... Are sadly gone here.... Should I move?? 😉

Idk about OKC but my families dealer in ST Louis and my dealer in Upstate NY where I am just required the Vin number from the salvage car. I explained that I just wanted to upgrade my base cd with a cd cassette combo and they did it. Ny dealer wanted 100 but I was in st louis and Chevy did it for 140

Nice series. These Caddies may be old now but still look good and turn heads. Must admit I prefer them in presidential motorcade black to Jewish racing gold but the new grille smartened her up no end. Radios can be a pain, especially when there are hidden amps and the like to contend with and add complexity. I'd imagine the newer touchscreen / hard drive based ones are even worse. That's another reason I prefer to mess around with 40 year old Volvos, everything's analog and there's maybe five or six wires to the tape player :)

  • @veelside200sx

Nice job on the amp - those vintage GMs have two types of Bose amps - a regular Bose amp that you saw in those two SRXs you took apart, and then there's a "Lux" amp which I believe is the one your SRX had (the bigger of the two). I believe the latter is fed by a databus signal for volume, has some digital signal processing modes, and more power. It's a shame the prior owner hacked the wiring. Always check your RPO codes on the GMs in the glovebox before diving in.

Nice to see you got the radio working. Your persistence paid off, something I like to see. I think you got lucky, but what would life be without some luck along the way. I know I like getting lucky here and there. I hope you don't get mad at me for bringing this up but I found a really good video on replacing the timing belt on the CTS. done by Nthefastlane. Very well done except for one thing. The antifreeze looked really rusty to me when he replaced the water pump and just said to refill with antifreeze and nothing about flushing out the system especially when he went to the lengths to replace the cam and crank seals. Who knows maybe he did eventually, just didn't mention it in the video. Only drawback was a $200 tool he used to hold and align the cams and crank to properly install the belt. He has listings of all the parts and tools he used. I'm not judging you on how you go about your business in any way. That's something you have to deal with. Never know what you'll find when taking something apart, lol. He did mention being careful with all the plastic stuff GM uses. Just sending you some info on the research I find. Ironically it makes me feel better passing on some tips that might help. Seems like you get a some feed back about not doing enough 'rebuilding', lol. Best wishes, Randy and thanks for sharing. Kevin
