Are the exclusive features of the Seal Performance worth the extra cash? Or is the Premium model more than enough?

The premium model seems to be the best choice for most buyers, but test drive the premium and the performance models so you can see which one is the best for your personal needs and you can afford.

Nice! I'm pretty drawn to it myself. I'd love to hear how you like it once you've had some time to properly drive around

Thank you! You know I still have my eye on the Meghane E-Tech, maybe even Polestar if luck would have it, but I do think the Seal looks quite nice. It'd definitely be a good option.

I have the performance model here in Australia and went with the optional external colour called Shark Grey and the optional interior colour called Ocean Blue.
The Child presence detection system is set to "on" everytime the vehicle is started you need to set it to "off" via the infotainment screen if you dont want it on, it doesn't remember the setting preference you set, defaulting to "on" when the vehicle is restated.

Also bought a new Performance with the Shark Grey. It’s stunning! In sunlight it has this beautiful iridescence to it! Really happy with the car. Went with black interior over the ocean as we wear lots of raw denim and the colour transfer would have ruined the seats! But did love the colour in person. Hope you are enjoying yours as well. Came from a G20 BMW and the Seal really makes Sydney roads a bit more tolerable!!

Yes, it has joined my BYD Atto 3 extended range in surf blue colour so we are a 2 car BYD owners now.

The child lock is individually activated by a button below each rear window button on the drivers door. Each can be locked individually and includes the door and window to be locked with buttons. Just bought a Seal Performance and loving it!

That's great, well designed childproofing! Must be a great ride, what's your favorite thing about the Seal? Have you tried the Tesla model 3? Seal seems better to me...

As much fun as you could have in the performance version, I honestly think for most people, the premium one is the one to go for. We've been too spoilt with extremely fast EVs but there is an argument to be made in favour of AWD for safety, and the price difference isn't that significant in the end. It may boil down to things like heated seats, just like you said. Comfort is more important as far as I'm concerned.

Comfort is the most important to me too. But a 4x4 would be nice, I wouldn't be afraid to take it to the mountains!

Those switches lock the doors, so a child can not open their door from inside the vehicle.
The system that detects if a child is actually sitting in the rear seats is controlled by the setting by pressing the vehicle icon on the infotainment screen, then selecting ADAS, then Driving Assist, then Child Presence Detection.

I always think it is strange when reviewers mention heated steering wheels. Here in Australia nobody really needs a heated steering wheel. There are so few cold places where it would be a must have option. Air conditioning is far more important. Cars with glass on the roof are actually very inconvenient. We have enough sun as it is. I had a Subaru once which came with a lovely sunroof. Its main use was opening it to let the 50°C air out as quickly as possible when getting back into the car in summer to drive home. In summary, priorities are quite different in other climate zones.
Thanks for the informative video. I am not a person who is likely to buy a BYD but the Seal looks like a better thought out car and active suspension is something that might change my mind about the brand. The seat upholstery is however something which makes me laugh. You can make seats comfortable and supportive without going over the top with stitching. They need to understand that “Less is more, excess is silly”. For me the fundamental design principle is the one that says: “All emphasis is no emphasis”. Until BYD designers understand this essential design principle, they will probably struggle to achieve the sales figures they seek in some important European markets.
